The first asylum boat to arrive since Tony Abbott was sworn in as Prime Minister - and a media blackout on new arrivals was imposed - was escorted into Christmas Island yesterday. A spokesman for Immigration Minister Scott Morrison declined to discuss yesterday's arrival, but Mr Morrison said weekly briefings would be held in lieu of contemporaneous announcements, with the first scheduled to take place today.
