WOOLWORTHS is being taken to court for the use of the phrase Honest to Goodness in its latest advertising campaign starring cooking doyenne Margaret Fulton.

An independent organic food supplier is alleging the supermarket chain's latest marketing push launched a fortnight ago infringes its intellectual property.

A hearing between Sydney organic and natural food trader Organic Marketing Australia, which trades as Honest to Goodness, and Woolworths is set down for a hearing in the Sydney Federal Court tomorrow.

The BBC faces a court case over Doctor Who after a fan of the long-running sci-fi series claimed the corporation stole his idea for the show's most famous villain: Davros, the leader of the Daleks.

Steven Clark was just 13 when he entered a competition run by the comic book TV Action to invent a super-villain, according to the Mail on Sunday. His idea, fleshed out in a sketch and essay, was entitled: 'The Genesis of the Daleks: The Creation of Davros'.

The drawing shows a half-man-half-Dalek with a microphone and third eye attached to his head. His hands are poised above a console which forms part of his Dalek-shaped lower body.

I've had many ideas that were "stolen" by those I presented them to... I have the original letters, the original submissions... I know many other persons whose ideas were "appropriated" by others in the same fashion, including original concepts for TV shows...
In my case, the projects were embryonic but very viable. That's why they were "stolen"... I was sometimes told that the value is in the realisation... These days I don't bother... I present on this site and other places valid new concepts about humanity, some of which are my own and some of which are adapted ("improved") from others. My ideas, I decided, were going to be free. Since I have no concept of the value of money, it's brilliant...
But for those who toil and have already commercial concerns and where people are making money there are things such as copyrights and what is called "passing off" (not "pissed off" — which would be valid too) in commercial relationships. The Rabbitohs court case, back ten years ago, was mostly fought on "restriction of trade" for being excluded from the league... Not only that there were some shenanigans where some of the clubs were "propped up" to make them look better on the books than they were — all to sink the Rabbitohs... The rest is history.
I was doing work for a firm whose product was plagiarised by another... There was a court case that "we" lost on a technicality... but eventually, "we" got enough cash to buy the other company which was then bigger than "us"...Revenge is sweet.
I'd suggest to woolies to make amends... It takes a big man to admit he's pooped in someone else's backyard. We shall see...
