Humbug (‘Hamas should renounce terror: Howard’, Herald, January 27). 

In claiming that his government won’t “moderate its attitude towards political movements or governments that espouse terrorism”, John Howard once again leaves himself open to accusations of hypocrisy. 

To avoid the charge, perhaps the Prime Minister could explain how our ongoing support for Israel & the US is justified, whilst they pursue secret renditions, torture, targeted assassinations, military attacks on civilian populations & other terrorist tactics?
