Philosophical about ALP policies 

‘We will not be taking Medicare Gold to the next election
- new problems, new focus," Mr Beazley said. 

But he says the party's focus at the next election will be
on fixing problems in the public hospital system. 

"We will not be going ahead with that in the same way
as we did not pick up on the 2004 schools policy or the 2004 tax
policy." 

But Mr Abbott says up until yesterday, the policy was
still on the website of Labor's health spokeswoman, Julia Gillard. 

"Because she seems to be so emotionally committed to
it, I think it's going to be very difficult for Kim Beazley, given the
political weakness he's suffering from the moment, to make this policy
stick" he said.
