PM plans $25m US studies centre
The Federal Government will spend $25 million setting up a new United States studies centre at an Australian university.
Prime Minister John Howard has announced the new centre while meeting senior US officials in Washington.
The new centre will allow study in areas such as United States culture, political climate and government.
The site of the centre is yet to be decided but the federal funding is subject to money also being provided by the private sector or state governments.
