Thousands of mourners clutching red and white roses attended a vigil in the stunned city of Charleston to remember nine African-American men and women allegedly shot dead by a suspected white supremacist.

Holding hands, many with tears in their eyes, people sang the protest-anthem We Shall Overcome in response to the carnage at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, as suspected gunman Dylann Roof was charged with nine murders.

Roof, 21, was ordered to be held without bond earlier on Friday.

He reportedly said he "wanted to start a race war," while gunning down the nine black worshippers, an act authorities are treating as a hate crime and investigating as possible "domestic terrorism".

The Wednesday night shooting was the worst attack on a US place of worship in decades and comes at a time of revived racial tensions in many parts of the country.

Anti-gun groups reacted with outrage and disbelief on Wednesday to comments made by Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson about the gun massacre last week at an Oregon college.

A gunman at Umpqua Community College killed nine people last Thursday and injured nine others before taking his own life. The father of one survivor said the gunman, Christopher Harper-Mercer, asked a number of victims whether they were Christian before killing them.

In an appearance on Fox News Tuesday, Carson – a retired neurosurgeon currently performing strongly in the polls and with fundraisers – was asked to put himself in the shoes of someone approached by a gunman and asked to declare his or her faith.

“I’m glad you asked that question,” Carson said. “Not only would I probably not cooperate with him, I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, ‘Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.’” Then Carson smiled and chuckled.

3 Words of Encouragement While We Wait for Christ's Return

It can be difficult to remember the security of our eternity when we are facing the ugly realities of a sinful and fallen world. In a time when human life is devalued, when virtue is weakened or even shamed, and when our God is continually shoved out of a culture that constantly claims to esteem love above everything else, it is tempting for God's people to fall into discouragement and even despair.

YES, EVEN GOD HIMSELF (GOD IS A MALE) IS SO DISCOURAGED BY HIS ROTTEN PEOPLE HE HAS DELAYED THE SECOND COMING FOR ANOTHER ETERNITY… SECURITY OF OUR ETERNAL LIFE? THREE GOONS AND A COUPLE OF BODYGUARDS TO THROW US OUT OF OUR FORECLOSED HOUSE… TEMPTED INTO DESPAIR BECAUSE VIRTUE IS DISPLACED BY LOVE? WHAT'S THIS NONSENSE? BUGGER ORF.

 

We are feeling the pains the world felt during the 400 years between the Old and New Testaments when God's guiding voice seemed silent. We're seeing the foundations of our nation's spiritual heritage broken down and threatened. How are we to cope without shrinking away into our faith with fear?

YEAH!… THOSE 400 YEARS WERE A BASTARD TO DEAL WITH, EVEN NOW… THE FORGERS AND THE FAIRY-TELLERS HAD TO LEARN GREEK BEFORE THEY COULD MAKE UP THE TALL STORIES IN LATIN FOR THE POPE TO BECOME POPE AND EMPERORS TO BECOME DIVINE... IT WAS A SIN-ECURE.

 

Here are three exhortations that I pray will keep you grounded, joyful and hopeful in a quickly-dimming world.

HEY, MORON… THE "DIMMING" OF THE WORLD (WHATEVER THIS PLANET IS. IS IT "THE WORLD"?) IS ONLY DUE TO YOUR COUNTRY, BEING TOO FULL OF MAD LOONIES, IDIOTS AND DELIBERATE SCIENTIFIC ILLITERATES FROM TOP TO BOTTOM — TO THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW SANE PEOPLE TRYING TO SALVAGE SCIENCES...

 

First of all, we must not dismay. This means we should not sink into hopelessness and stagnancy as a result of challenges to our faith. Dismay gives the powers of darkness an easier job. Do not relent! Take the challenge as a sacred calling, and be fuelled with the joy of the Lord, which will be your strength.

YEAH… DON’T WORRY BE HAPPY!… THE GUY WHO SANG THIS KILLED HIMSELF. FILL UP THE CAR WITH PETROL (GAS). JOY WON’T DO IT.

 

In fact, we must remember the overwhelming joy that the birth of Christ brought to earth. Recall what the angel told the frightened shepherds that very night: "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people" (Luke 2:10). Note, "all the people." It is not only our blessing and privilege to be recipients of this joy, but to also be joy-bringers and heralds of hope to others, just as the angel that blessed night proclaimed.

IN FACT? JOY? I DON’T THINK THE EARLY CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCED JOY IN THE CIRCUSES WITH THE LIONS…YES THEY DID HAVE DELUSIONS, WHILE DEATH WAS NOT QUICK ENOUGH...  ANGELS? WOW! ARE YOU SURE IT WAS NOT A GOAT? OR A TALKING LIZARD? IN FACT, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “IN FACT” IN REGARD TO RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. NOT A SINGLE FACT. ONLY BELIEFS… 2000 YEARS AGO, THE ABORIGINES OF “AUSTRALIA” — A PLACE WHICH WAS NOT NAMED "AUSTRALIA" THEN, SINCE IT WAS DECLARED “TERRA NULLIUS” SO IT COULD BE INVADED BY THE ENGLISH EMPIRE — HAD DIFFERENT FACTS. 

 

Second, we must remember that God has not left us, and never will leave us. Jesus is Immanuel, "God with us," and the Bible has made it clear that He is coming back again (Hebrews 9:28). The world is aching for Christ, and we have an ordained duty to bring His love and truth to those around us while we wait for His triumphant return.

IMMANUEL? TRIUMPHANT RETURN?… YOU’RE GOING TO BE WAITING A LONG TIME!… THIS EARTH’S SUN HAS BEEN EARMARKED FOR DEMOLITION IN ABOUT 5 BILLION YEARS… THE UNIVERSE WILL LAST ANOTHER 120 BILLION YEARS BEFORE THINNING OUT INTO NOTHINGMUCHNESS... (Gusbrews 10:65)

 

Even when the world seems to be falling apart, we have a steadfast and unshakable foundation in our victorious God. And when He does come again, heaven and earth will be reconciled in a beautiful and holy display of our Creator's power. Even in the darkest days, when evil seems to reign, remember God still sits on His throne.

WHAT IF GOD IS DEFEATED BY TRUMP? IS TRUMP GOD? DOES GOD INSPIRE TRUMP? ARE GOD AND RUPERT MURDOCH ON EQUAL SPEAKING TERMS? HAS GOD MORTGAGE HIS THRONE TO PAY THE ELECTRICITY BILLS? WAS NOT OUR CREATOR THE EVOLUTION OF DNA THAT TOOK 3.5 BILLION YEARS BEFORE WE GOT A LOOK IN?. 

 

So that brings me to my third and final exhortation: we must rejoice!

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE! LETS HAVE FUN! FORNICATE, TELL TALL TALES AND BAWDY JOKES, GAMBLE, DRINK ALCOHOL LIKE IN THE DAYS OF DIONYSOS, WHO OF COURSE WAS THE GOD OF THE POOR PEOPLE...

 

We have a Savior who is victorious over the grave and was not contained by the tomb. While we await His return, let us remind others of this Gospel, this Good News. Let us live with faith, conviction and courage even in the fiery world around us.

COME ON! CLICHES, CLICHES, ALL IS CLICHES AND ALL IS VANITY TO THINK WE ARE MORE WORTHY TO GOD THAN A DOG OR A WORM!  WHAT ARE WE? EGO! EGO! EGO TO BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THAT BIG GUY (GOD IS A MALE) IN THE SKY...

 

All around us, people are broken by their sin and beaten down by their lives, and they need a loving Christian to tell them about the One who died and rose and is coming again.

In an October 2, 1910, interview in the New York Times Magazine, Edison stated:

Nature is what we know. We do not know the gods of religions. And nature is not kind, or merciful, or loving. If God made me — the fabled God of the three qualities of which I spoke: mercy, kindness, love — He also made the fish I catch and eat. And where do His mercy, kindness, and love for that fish come in? No; nature made us — nature did it all — not the gods of the religions.[109]

Edison was accused of being an atheist for those remarks, and although he did not allow himself to be drawn into the controversy publicly, he clarified himself in a private letter:

You have misunderstood the whole article, because you jumped to the conclusion that it denies the existence of God. There is no such denial, what you call God I call Nature, the Supreme intelligence that rules matter. All the article states is that it is doubtful in my opinion if our intelligence or soul or whatever one may call it lives hereafter as an entity or disperses back again from whence it came, scattered amongst the cells of which we are made.[54]

He also stated, "I do not believe in the God of the theologians; but that there is a Supreme Intelligence I do not doubt."[110]

Nonviolence was key to Edison's moral views, and when asked to serve as a naval consultant for World War I, he specified he would work only on defensive weapons and later noted, "I am proud of the fact that I never invented weapons to kill." Edison's philosophy of nonviolence extended to animals as well, about which he stated: "Nonviolence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."[111][112] He was a vegetarian[113] but not a vegan in actual practice, at least near the end of his life.[54]

This is where Gus and Edison differ: In Gus views there is no "Supreme intelligence". That we could be more intelligent or that we can invent a better intelligence through "artificial means" is not out of the question. Our consciousness at the origin of our intelligence is coming from specific precise assemblage of matter that are from chaos (organising disorder). Nothing more. Is it possible that Edison did not want to antagonise his financial backers (religious) by not being drawn on his possible "atheism" further.
