opportunism is seizing the opportunity of entitlements...

opportunity of entitlements

Dumped treasurer Joe Hockey will become Australia's ambassador to the United States in the new year, and has conceded staying in parliament would have been about "getting even" with those who engineered his downfall.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has confirmed thewidely anticipated news that the former treasurer will take over the Washington post from Kim Beazley in January.

Mr Hockey, 50, announced his retirement from politics after being ditched as treasurer by Mr Turnbull in September.

In a rare post-politics interview, Mr Hockey conceded that if he had stayed in parliament he would have been seeking retribution for his ousting.

The interview, filmed in the back of a Sydney coffee shop, was conducted with Australian businessman Mark Bouris for his online television show.

"The politics, at the end of the day, beat me," Mr Hockey said.

Thank you Zeus. We've been saved from a nasty bout of hockeism — that flu you catch in North Sydney between the expressway and some of the tall buildings housing the Chamber of Commerce... For a bloke whose god is not vengeful, Hockey was prepared to do some nasty revengeful damage if he did not get some rich bone to chew upon, which we are entitled to see as grand opportunism.

Joe admits he was prepared to crap in Turnbull's front yard, like his former boss, Tony, is trying to do while claiming not to do it, but got trumped by the "innovation package" announcement.

For what this package is worth to you, you should know it will be got by cutting some obscure social welfare package for the under-privileged dogs of socialism, you bastards, the entitlements of whom will be cut further to the bone...

a joe garden party...

It was modestly billed as “a barbecue and a few drinks among friends”, though it was hardly just a slab of VB and a few snags in the backyard.

As part of Scott Morrison’s US State visit in September last year, Australia’s ambassador Joe Hockey laid on an afternoon garden party at his Washington residence for 350 VIPs representing business, politics and showbiz across both nations.

Now documents obtained by The New Daily reveal Australian taxpayers picked up the full $45,650 tab for the event, including $7690 for “entertainment” and another $25,469 for catering and security. The bill also includes around $13,000 in set-up costs.

But the guest list is being kept secret.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) was coy about who attended the garden party, refusing to hand over the invite list for the event on the basis it would “adversely affect Australia’s international relations with the United States of America”.

Do you mean that Joe has invited guests, on American soil, that would be persona non grata at his little do-do? How come the list of guest to a a few snags in the backyard, would HIT A SNAG? Well, this is typical Joe... Always the hand in the taxpayers pocket... Next time you have a party in your backyard, invite the US ambassador. He won't turn up for sure, but you still will be able to send the bill of your do-do to Scott Morrison, under the pretence of encouraging the US-Aussie relations...

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has praised the White House for revising a warning for travellers to Australia.

The United States is one of the top source countries for tourists to Australia, along with China and New Zealand.

But last week the State Department published a warning saying tourists should 'exercise increased caution' when flying down under.
