The ongoing operation in Mosul, Iraq, is taking its toll on US troops, with 16 killed and 27 wounded, according to a military source in Moscow cited by TASS. The US Department of Defense has told RT America it is only aware of one casualty.

“During the first two weeks of the ground operation to capture Mosul, 16 American servicemen lost their lives, 27 more sustained various wounds,” the source  TASS. The majority of the losses were due to“land mine explosions, artillery and mortar shelling.”

In certain cases, however, poor coordination between ground troops and air support was reportedly to blame for those killed or injured. “Two special operations soldiers died following airstrikes by US B-52H jets on Mosul suburbs,” the source said.

Of course the Westerm media makes a difference between terrorists and "rebels". The ISIS terrorists in Mosul are nasty geezers while the Al Qaeda rebels in Aleppo — people who destroyed the Trade Center in New York back in 2001 — are our friends because they fight our enemy Assad and the Ruskies — who to say the least have been trying to stop the Wahhabisation of Syria, while protecting the ethnic diversity of the said country. We are of course fucking hypocrites along with the next president of the United States, Hillary Macdonald Trump Clinton...

Jihadists near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul have forced 1,500 families to retreat alongside them as militants are pushed out by a joint US-backed offensive. Aid organizations say they are concerned by the "significant humanitarian consequences" of the military operation.

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists forced civilians to accompany them as they retreated from the town of Hammam al-Alil towards Mosul airport, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Ravina Shamdasani announced Tuesday.

Along with 1,500 families, IS kidnapped 295 former members of the Iraqi Security Forces.

On Sunday, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter Islamic State fighters, Brett McGurk bluntly warned that any remaining jihadists in Mosul will be killed inside the besieged city.

“ISIS is trapped. … Any of the fighters left in Mosul, they’re going to die there,” McGurk said in a conference in Baghdad. “So we are very committed to not just defeating them in Mosul, but making sure these guys cannot escape.”

Meanwhile at Blind Media Inc:
The number of civilian casualties from airstrikes by the US-led coalition in the Iraqi city of Mosul exceeds the numbers reported by the media during the operation to retake Aleppo by Syrian and Russian forces, the London-based Airwars monitoring group has said.

"Since the assault, first on east Mosul and then west Mosul began, we have seen just a remarkable change at Mosul, moving from tens of civilians reported killed every week or even every month, to hundreds reported killed every week now by coalition airstrikes,” Chris Woods, Airwars director, told RT’s Ruptly video agency.
