Since the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, an activist chief executive’s first 100 days have been the hallmark for his administration: the New Deal, JFK’s New Frontier, and LBJ’s Great Society.

Right from the jump on Jan. 20, Donald Trump needs to make clear to supporters, opponents and the entrenched interests of DC who’s boss. He’s off to a good start, swatting down a boneheaded Republican attempt to fiddle with the Ethics Committee and getting corporations like Carrier and Ford to bring jobs back to America.

Here are five more ways he can leave an immediate mark:

1. Gain control of Congress by bringing the dissident elements of the GOP to heel. Chief among them are Sen. John McCain, who’s never met a country he didn’t want to destabilize or a war he didn’t want to start, and his mini-me, Sen. Lindsey Graham. The Maverick’s anti-GOP act has long since worn thin, and Graham discovered during his run for the nomination how infinitesimal his “popular support” really was. Yet with a 52-48 split in the Senate, the tandem can do some damage, which is why Trump must also woo such centrist Democrats as West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, either by persuading them to switch parties or offering them a Cabinet appointment. Heitkamp is said to top Trump’s list for agriculture secretary; her vacant seat would almost certainly go to a Republican.
2. Get started on The Wall. As one of the centerpieces of his campaign, Trump cannot afford to fail at stopping the flow of illegal immigration from Mexico. Despite the campaign hyperbole, no one’s expecting a 40-foot high fence from San Diego to Brownsville, Texas; the point is demonstrating the will to do something — now. Similarly, tightening immigration controls from known terrorist states can be done at once under existing presidential authority (Jimmy Carter did it to the Iranians in 1980). A few high-profile roundups and deportations will proclaim there’s a new sheriff in town.
3. Make it clear to ISIS that their destruction begins on Day One. No further domestic terrorism — even of the “lone wolf” kind — will be tolerated. The coy games of footsie the US has been playing with Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and the Saudis needs to cease and be replaced with a clear restatement of the Bush Doctrine — countries spawning or harboring terrorists will be held responsible for the actions of their citizens.
4. Trump must clarify his relationship with Vladimir Putin’s Russia. With a combined CIA/White House disinformation operation currently underway — designed to make Trump look like the second coming of Alger Hiss — it’s going to be tough for him to cut through the fog. But the Cold War has been over since 1991. We’re now back to the era of Great Power politics, in which nations have shared interests, not friends; in the fight against Islamic aggression, our two countries should be allies of convenience, not enemies of choice.
5. Put ObamaCare humanely out of its — and our — misery. Pay no attention to cries that it can’t be done — the program is only a few years old and has already been tweaked by presidential fiat a number of times. The bottom line is that Obama’s “signature” domestic achievement is little more than a disguised welfare program funded by the middle class under the watchful eye of the IRS. Conservative groups, such as the Heritage Foundation, have already proposed a series of market-based solutions for health care and other entitlement programs, which include repeal of ObamaCare, tax credits for the purchase of private plans, subsidies for the poor and tax-free health-care savings accounts. And Trump’s already signaled he’ll try to preserve such popular features as extended coverage for young adults and pre-existing conditions.

If the Democrats could ram it through Congress late on Christmas Eve 2009, Trump and the GOP can bury it in full daylight of a bright winter’s day. Nothing would say morning in America better.

The "establishment" is trying hard to discredit Donald Trump, even making a mockery of the secret services' (in)ability do deal with supposed cyber attack... It's utterly ridiculous... Then "they" will try to secretly "kill him off". The "establishment" is made of the political parties and of the liberal MMMM media which have been complacent allied in the support for Hillary Clinton. Clinton was their girl. She was readying herself to whack Putin's arse and bomb Damascus — and wham, Donald Duck gets the gong. So Mr Trump has to watch his back until "inauguration day" and way after that. No time to dither. This is why Donald has been very busy in creating "his" cabinet" in a hurry. There could be loonies with poisoned umbrellas and poisoned hair dyes lurking in the corridors.

They shot John Kennedy, did not they? And a few other US presidents, didn't they? (17.4 per cent of US Presidents have been assassinated. There has been 35 per cent of Presidents for which attempts on their life has been publicly accounted)

• Andrew Jackson.

• Theodore Roosevelt.

They killed off a few renegade presidents in South America, didn't they? They tried to eliminate Castro, didn't they? This is why Donald choose some powerful people, alien to politics, to help him along. But the "establishment" will try hard and fight back. Donald is not going to get a single fair day's news ahead of him. There will be massive bitterness floating around and even god, Uncle Rupe, will have to play a very subtle game to counter the crap, even if Donald is crap...

People like McCain will have to be appeased, usually by giving them something constructive to do.

A top ethics official has warned that plans to confirm Donald Trump’s top Cabinet choices before background examinations are complete are unprecedented and have overwhelmed government investigators responsible for the reviews.

The concerns prompted Democrats on Saturday to call for delaying the confirmation process, but Republicans signaled they’re unlikely to budge on the eve of a slew of hearings in the Senate.

The Trump administration-in-waiting faces its first big test in coming days, with as many as seven nominees for Cabinet positions — many of them already the subject of questions about their qualifications — scheduled to appear on Capitol Hill.

The process begins Tuesday, when Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Trump’s controversial nominee for attorney general, is scheduled to begin two days of hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. But the big show is planned for Wednesday, when five hearings are scheduled, bringing a marathon of nationally televised scrutiny to the thin public records and vast wealth of many of Trump’s Cabinet picks.

Democrats have vowed to cast the hearings as a proxy test of Trump himself, in hopes of discrediting his new government before it begins. They hope to remind the public of the president-elect’s own lack of government experience and reluctance to separate himself from an entanglement of global business interests while he leads the nation.

I am in awe of how Uncle Rupe, the major instigator of the investiture of Donald Trump as the next president of the USA, got away with it — without him blaming the Russians for it, while everybody else is packing against Putin for NO REAL REASONS.

Sure there was one reader's letter in this morning's Sunday Telegraph (Uncle Rupe news outlet) which expressed concerns about Wikileaks — praised as the defender of the truth — releasing blocks of damning DNC emails without paying attention to the damage this could cause to the girl who could do no wrong in the eyes of the "establishment" elite.

The closing arguments for the Obama years are arriving, and they aren’t helping the outgoing president. A case in point is a new book published this week, one that acknowledges “Obama’s supporters have experienced [his presidency] as a continuous disappointment.”

Those supporters, and others, must have noticed that “for most of Obama’s term, wage gains were largely confined to the rich.” Or that “The administration’s planning in Libya clearly failed” or “It is certain that the actual outcome [of Obama’s Syria policy] was disastrous.”

US President Donald Trump's executive orders on refugees and immigration have caused enormous controversy around the world.

• Steve Bannon with Donald Trump at major events including CIA visit, Theresa May meeting

That is no surprise given the dramatic changes that have offended so many people.

But, while it was Mr Trump's signature on the document, it had the fingerprints of another man all over it.

Steve Bannon was appointed Mr Trump's senior counsellor and chief strategist, and has been at the President's side for many of the major events of the past few days — including a visit to CIA headquarters and a meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

Mr Bannon led Mr Trump's election campaign from last August, and was always going to be one of his closest advisers.

Just how close is now becoming evident.

In an unprecedented move, Mr Bannon was given a seat on the National Security Council (NSC) — the peak advisory body that warns of threats to the United States and suggests responses.

At the same time, the role of the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff and the Director of National Intelligence have had their roles reduced from regular attendees to an "as needs" basis.

For a president that has promised to "make American safe again", this organisation plays a key role advising on complex threats from places like the Middle East, Russia and China.

What better way to mark the news that the head of Breitbart.com, the alt-right news site, is now running Donald Trump’s campaign than with a conspiracy theory? And, unlike some of the conspiracy theories that appear on Breitbart, this one might actually be true.

The theory making the rounds is that Trump’s latest campaign reshuffle isn’t really about trying to win the election. In bringing in Steve Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News, and recruiting Roger Ailes, the disgraced former head of Fox News, as an adviser, Trump is making a business play: he’s laying the groundwork for a new conservative media empire to challenge Fox.

The official story is that the shakeup—which saw Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, eclipsed—is all about defeating Hillary Clinton. “I have known Steve and Kellyanne both for many years,” Trump said in a press release announcing the changes, referring to Bannon and Kellyanne Conway, a pollster he brought in to be his new campaign manager. “They are extremely capable, highly qualified people who love to win and know how to win.” In an interview with the Wall Street Journal’s Monica Langley and Janet Hook, who broke the story, Trump added, “I’m going to do whatever it takes and do it the way I think will win.” As for Ailes, the Trump campaign denies that he is playing any official role. (It hasn’t denied the New York Times revelation that Ailes met with Trump on Sunday in New Jersey.)

Does this official explanation withstand inspection? Hardly.

Senior executives from Rupert Murdoch-owned companies met the prime minister or chancellor 10 times in a year – more than any other media organisation, according to a new analysis.

There were 10 meetings with either David Cameron or George Osborne, and later Theresa May or the chancellor, Phillip Hammond, compared with seven with named executives for the BBC and four with Evgeny Lebedev, the owner of the Evening Standard and Independent, over the 12 months to September 2016.

Over an 18-month period, News Corp executives had 20 meetings with senior government representatives. Of these, 18 were with the prime minister, chancellor or culture secretary, and of those, seven involved Murdoch himself . A further eight were with Robert Thomson, the chief executive of News Corp and most senior executive at Murdoch’s newspaper businesses.

Rupert Murdoch was in the room when Donald Trump gave his first post-election foreign newspaper interview in the UK to the Times and former government minister Michael Gove.

It is unclear whether the media mogul was present throughout the interview, held in Trump Tower in New York, or simply introduced the Times columnist to the president, although the Financial Times said Murdoch sat through the whole interview. 

Murdoch, whose News Corp owns the Times, is believed to have orchestrated the meeting between the former Conservative minister and the president but details of his presence emerged weeks after the hour-long meeting.

The ties that bind the most powerful media mogul in the world to the leader of the free world just keep getting stronger. Or, more precisely, we keep learning just how strong they are.

The question is where that leaves the rest of the world when they’re done divvying it up.

They are Rupert Murdoch — the founder of the corporate news media giants 21st Century Fox and the News Corporation — and President Trump.

The Financial Times reported the latest example of their closeness last week: that Mr. Trump’s daughter Ivanka was a trustee of the nearly $300 million fortune Mr. Murdoch set aside for the two children he had with his third wife, Wendi, who arranged the trusteeship.

Ms. Trump gave up that oversight role in December, before her father’s inauguration but well after Election Day.

HELLO? HELLO!  We've been following the story since mid 2015 and the "liberal" media is awakening that Uncle Rupe and Trump have been sleeping together. I would laugh is this was not so serious. As I have mentioned here many times, Trump would not have won the presidency if it had not been for the Three Aussies (this is a conspiracy...) : Pilger who exposed the duplicity of Hillary Clinton, Assange who revealed the way the DNC shafted Bernie and for Uncle Rupe who basically stirred the undecided electorate to vote for Trump, by manipulating the bigoted Christians (blacks, white, women, Latinos) and the poor, and the unemployed — in the same manner Uncle Rupe manipulated the elections of 2013 in Australia. This site has all the answers to your "questions" and yes, the Russians had nothing to do with it.
