With the centre of the coronavirus outbreak moving from China to Europe, governments across the continent have been declaring nationwide lockdowns to prevent the spread of the disease.
Pornhub, one of the world’s most popular adult websites, has extended a helping hand to millions of Europeans during the coronavirus quarantine.
The site, which is owned by Canadian company MindGeek, on Tuesday announced that it would grant month-long ad-free access to HD videos to users in Spain and France to “help pass the time and stay entertained” as the pandemic has brought public life to a halt.
Pornhub also pledged to donate this month’s proceeds from Modelhub, a platform for amateur models to share and sell their X-rated content, to help these countries fight the COVID-19 crisis. The models’ earnings will not be affected, it promised.
Days earlier, the company also extended its Premium services free of charge to Italy. It has committed to donating the February proceeds from Modelhub to a fundraising campaign to add intensive care units to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
Italy, Spain, and France have all declared nationwide lockdowns in recent days requiring people to remain indoors to help curb the accelerating spread of the new coronavirus.
Italy is the worst-hit European country, with more than 31,500 confirmed cases and over 2,500 deaths as of Tuesday. The respiratory disease caused by the virus has infected more than 11,000 people and killed 514 in Spain; France currently reports more than 7,700 cases and 175 deaths.

Two violinists dressed in lifejackets have put on a widely shared performance in a US supermarket, amid panic-buying over the coronavirus.
Bonnie Von Duyke and Emer Kinsella performed the 19th Century hymn Nearer My God to Thee, known to many for its use in the film Titanic, in a toilet paper aisle. Video of the performance was posted online.
They tell the BBC they hope it may help people cope, and bring some light-hearted relief.

Volvo is recalling more than 736,000 vehicles worldwide because the automatic emergency braking system may not detect obstacles and stop the vehicles as designed.
The recall covers certain 2019 and 2020 S60, V60, S90L and V90 models.
The company said in US government documents that a software-hardware incompatibility glitch causes the problem.
If the system doesn’t work as intended, it can increase the risk of a crash, Volvo said in documents posted on Wednesday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Sex therapist Ulrika Vogt is not surprised. Whether alone or with several people, “during sex, and especially during orgasm, a number of positive hormones are released. This gives people a self-confident feeling and calms them down, and that is especially important now,” said Vogt.
Berlin condom manufacturer Einhorn suspects their wares are being hoarded, presumably beside piles of toilet paper, also in short supply.
Pornography would also appear to hold a strong appeal during the crisis and related social distancing.
Erika Lust, a producer of feminist porn, has reported that more people are viewing her films than usual. Since the outbreak, streaming times on her platforms have increased by 20 to 30 per cent globally.
Online porn mecca Pornhub has announced that people living in Italy – which has been especially badly hit by the pandemic – will now receive free premium access until the beginning of April.
