In the middle-ages until the renaissance of Europe, the images of women were mostly those of the Virgin Mary and of fig-leaved Eve, both naively depicted.

 

Then the world of the ancient Greeks and Romans was brought back to life into a pseudo-porn for the rich, using the godly myths as props. Since Manet's Déjeuner sur l’Herbe women have been depicted in various secular ways, but rarely as they are, until some people did and it was not all pretty. The paintings of Lucien Freud are bold and elicit no real emotions. His bodies are a bit green. On this site, Gus has exposed many artistic interpretations of women.

 

Much of art has now gone to the dogs in general. It has sunk into the illusion of abstractive value and shapes that have lost the connection to human civilisation and invented purpose — or art has become patches of colours representing a face no more than a blob… 


And there are ratings on what can be shown and seen, mostly no explicit nakedness in public art. But some people like to glorify women, or at least, not show them in a "bad light"...

It is the public mural that has divided opinion in Sydney's Sutherland Shire provoking two petitions, a social media debate and even a critique from the local mayor.

Critics have launched a campaign to remove the large mural, which is painted on a wall outside a retail shop in Miranda, claiming it is inappropriate and offensive. But the owner of the building says the mural was commissioned to prevent just that kind of content, and had succeeded in deterring graffiti and vandalism.

One supplier, Sex Doll Genie, says it is struggling to keep up with the surge in demand that has hit them since the lockdown began more than two months ago. SDG’s Janet Stevenson says the company she co-founded with her husband, Amit, has just added staff in both the US and Europe, bucking the global recession and the slashing of jobs across the retail sector, which continues to suffer as shops are shuttered.

Amit told Daily Star Online that, as a result of the increased interest in the rubberised companions, research and development was progressing at such a rate that models which can breathe and even simulate a heartbeat could be on the market by the end of the year.

the K family quits....

The long-running TV reality show about the Kardashian family is coming to an end, Kim Kardashian West has announced.

"It is with heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up With The Kardashians," she said in a statement posted on Twitter.

The show has run for 14 years, and made global mega-stars of Kim, her siblings, their parents, partners and children.

The final season, its 21st, will air in early 2021.

Expressing her thanks to the "thousands of individuals and businesses" involved in the programme, Kim also added: "I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years."

"This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever," she went on.

Brings tears to our eyes... But all's not lost:

 

 

In fact, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the beauty icon and reality TV star said she hopes Trump succeeds for a very simple reason — she wants the country to succeed.

“There’s obviously a lot that we don’t agree with, but I want him (President Trump) to win,” she said. “I want him to succeed, because it’s our country. It’s so crazy that everyone doesn’t want that.”

the armenians in hollywood support armenia...

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West is among an unexpected group of celebrities speaking up about a bloody conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On Saturday, the multi-millionaire announced on Instagram she would donate $US1 million ($1.4 million) to Armenia Fund, a humanitarian organisation providing civilians with food, shelter and medical care.

It follows the deaths of hundreds of people since September 27, when the long-running dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan flared up again.

The mountainous region, known as Artsakh to Armenians, is home to 150,000 majority ethnic Armenian people, but is internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s, tensions have simmered over who gets to control the region, turning it into a political powder keg.

Kardashian West, whose late father Robert Kardashian was Armenian, encouraged her fans to donate to the Armenian effort and make it the “most successful fundraiser ever”.
