Top US officials have already been mocked for their bizarre choice of words and gaffes when it comes to the Ukraine crisis. President Joe Biden, for his part, happened to call Ukrainians "the Iranian people".
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed concerns around the situation in Ukraine during her remarks at the House Democrats' Philadelphia retreat, but happened to mispronounce both the name of the country she was concerned about and its president.
Pelosi referred to the slogan "Slava Ukraini" ["Glory to Ukraine"], which she pronounced in a way that sounded rather like "Slava Ukrony". She then revealed that she had spoken to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky... but in Pelosi's case, there was a twist to his name.
"I spent about 50 minutes with [...] President Kerensky the day before we came here", the House speaker said.
Other parts of her speech also attracted the attention of some netizens. The way Pelosi spoke in general had many of them thinking that she had had "too much vodka" prior to her remarks.
Additionally, Pelosi followed President Biden's lead and pinned the blame for inflation and skyrocketing gas prices on Russian President Vladimir Putin. This did not go unnoticed by critics either.
"The price of gas was already skyrocketing before the invasion of Ukraine", one user noted.
"Midterms are gonna be delicious", another predicted.
"I stubbed my toe on the couch today… it was Putin’s fault though", one netizen joked.
Earlier, Joe Biden said several times that the record-high inflation in the United States is "largely the fault of Putin".
The Ukraine crisis appears to be one of the main topics for top American officials, whether they need to offer explanations for the rising inflation or talk about the situation in the Eastern European country directly. The latter, however, does not always end well for them either: Biden, for his part, mistakenly called Ukrainians "the Iranian people" during his State of the Union address, and Vice President Kamala Harris happened to oversimplify the conflict in Ukraine when asked to describe it "in layman's terms".
“Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So basically that’s wrong", Harris said, in a quote that raised eyebrows online, with users comparing her description with what a schoolchild could have said about the conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his readiness for negotiations with Russia. He requested that the Israeli prime minister convene peace talks in Jerusalem.
“A group of Ukrainians and Russian representatives are discussing certain issues. They began talking about something, and not just throwing out ultimatums,” Zelensky said on Saturday, during a press conference with foreign media.
Kiev is of the view that any high-profile talks with Russia should be held on neutral territory, Zelensky said, naming Israel as a potential host for such negotiations.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the West to provide advanced weapons instead of “certain hunting guns” as Russia expanded its attacks to Ukraine’s far west.
Russian missiles were fired on Lviv near the border with Poland, striking an airport in a city basically on NATO’s doorstep where hundreds of thousands have sought refuge.
In the southern city of Mariupol, the mayor said fighting had reached the city centre, with forces engaged in fierce gun battles as hundreds of people remained trapped under the rubble of a bombed theatre.
But in the capital Kyiv, the Ukraine Army has given an upbeat assessment of its defences and said the Russian army had been stopped from getting any closer to the city heart.
Ukraine said it had prevented Russian troops from making any fresh advances on Friday and the Russians had problems with food, fuel and communications.
Mr Zelensky said his country needed advanced weapons and warned Western leaders they would face “moral defeat” if Ukraine did not get better military aid to help save more civilian lives.
“We still have no missile defence. We do not have enough fighter planes,” said Mr Zelensky said.
“We shall call even louder on certain Western leaders and remind them that this will be their moral defeat if Ukraine does not receive the advanced weapons that will save the lives of thousands of our people.
“Russian missiles are not going to be defeated by certain hunting guns that they are trying to sell us sometimes.”

I have been told in no uncertain terms not to call President Zelenskyy a "JEWISH NAZI"... Fair enough. Though his supporting base isn't exclusively Nazi, his fighters are. This is what the modern Jewish mafia does: they let the Nazis do their dirty work... Thus Zelenskyy was put in place by the Jewish controlling main branch of the Straussians (via his mate, the JEWISH TV media baron) that ugly growth on the face of the earth... See: war on the straussians…. So I will call Zelenskyy "that little Jewish boy" — a devious character that the Western media love like a freedom fighter, while Zelenskyy is only doing the American controller's bidding...
At this stage, the Jewish Straussians would have to know that unless Putin does a wrong move, Ukraine is lost to their cause towards conquering the "Heartland", but there will be more occasions to wring it...
