loyalty divided…...Israel Summons Russia’s Ambassador, Demands Apology Over Lavrov’s Remarks About Hitler, Zelensky In an interview with an Italian TV channel on Sunday, the Russian foreign minister suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s oft-made claim that Ukraine does not suffer from problems with Nazism because Zelensky himself is Jewish was severely flawed. Israel summoned Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov on Monday over Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s comments about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Adolf Hitler. In an interview with Mediaset Italia on Sunday, Lavrov was asked to comment on Zelensky’s claims that Russia’s de-Nazification operation in Ukraine “doesn’t make sense” because “he himself is a Jew,” and that the numbers of neo-Nazis fighting in groups like the Azov Regiment was insignificant. “There is Nazification” in Ukraine, Lavrov retorted. “The captured militants, as well as members of the Azov and Aidar battalions and other units, wear swastikas or symbols of Nazi Waffen-SS battalions on their clothes or have them tattooed on their bodies; they openly read and promote Mein Kampf”, he said.
“Zelensky’s argument is: How can there be Nazism in Ukraine if he is a Jew? I may be mistaken but Adolf Hitler had Jewish blood, too. This means absolutely nothing. The wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites are usually Jews. ‘Every family has its black sheep’, as we say”, the Russian foreign minister added.
Lavrov’s comments sparked a firestorm of criticism in Israel, with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett saying that “lies like these are meant to blame the Jews themselves for the most terrible crimes in history.” Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called the comments “unforgivable and outrageous, and a terrible historic mistake”, adding that “the Jews did not murder themselves in the Holocaust”. Lapid went on to suggest that “the basest level of racism against Jews is to blame the Jews themselves for anti-Semitism”. Israeli media blasted Lavrov’s comments as evidence of “bountiful conspiracies about Hitler’s Jewish blood”, but did not elaborate on what about them was so “conspiratorial” or controversial. The subject of Adolf Hitler’s roots has been hotly debated by historians for decades, and began following the publication of the memoirs of Hans Frank, the Fuhrer’s personal attorney, in the early 1950s. Frank claimed Hitler’s paternal grandfather was a Jewish man from Graz, Austria. Historians initially dismissed Frank’s allegations, citing the conclusions of a single academic – Nikolaus von Preradovich – a suspected Nazi sympathiser who claimed that there were no Jews in Graz at the time that Hitler’s father, Alois, was born in 1837. However, a 2019 academic article in the peer-reviewed Journal of European Studies by Dr Leonard Sax postulated, citing data from Austrian archives from the 1800s, that a community of Jews did indeed live in Graz at the time that Alois was born.

making excuses for HIS minuscule nazis…...
On 7 April, when Zelensky addressed the Greek parliament, two Greek militants of the neo-Nazi Azov battalion also delivered speeches to the lawmakers, sparking an outcry in the country. All the political parties were united in their condemnation of the neo-Nazis' performance, and the government subsequently branded their appearance as a "mistake".
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Greece's ERT network that he is grateful to the neo-Nazi Azov battalion and other "volunteers", whoever they may be. He also asserted his belief that there are "almost no" calls for radicalism in Ukraine.
In the interview, broadcast on Sunday, Zelensky was asked about his attitude towards the Azov battalion in light of the most recent public outrage.
The Ukrainian president, who spoke both in Ukrainian and English during the interview, said that back in 2014, "volunteers from different parts of the state united to defend Ukraine", because the country did not have such a "powerful" army as it "has" today.
However, he admitted that he can see the difference between the Ukrainian military and the nationalist battalions. According to Zelensky, the radical calls of the Ukrainian nationalist formations against the Russians were their "personal opinion", and that there is a difference between them and the position of the military.
"There is also the Azov battalion, which does not consist of volunteers, but is part of the national guard of our state. Today it is part of the armed forces, and all of them are the official army of our state. Some of those who were volunteers at the beginning of the war moved into politics and stayed there. Those who decided to continue serving in the armed forces of Ukraine became military and are part of the armed forces of Ukraine. These are two different things," Zelensky said.
According to Zelensky, Mariupol is "defended" by professional soldiers, and not only by the Azov battalion, to which he is grateful, once more highlighting their "professionalism".
"There is also the National Guard, border guards, special forces, and there are the armed forces of Ukraine," he added.
The president claimed, however, that he and his office are keeping a close eye on events.
"And if there are challenges or calls for radicalism, I believe that there are much fewer in Ukraine than in other countries on Earth," he claimed. "I think that we have almost none. Despite the fact that we are at war, If such radical sentiments were to emerge, we would take them very seriously and immediately take all necessary steps against them, believe me."
This is not the first time the Ukrainian president has heaped praise on the neo-Nazi battalion. Last month, he addressed the Greek parliament, with his speech including a video message from two Greek Azovites. Their appearance ignited a huge political row in Greece, with opposition parties and influential members of the ruling New Democracy party slamming their address.
“The neo-Nazi Azov battalion members' speech in the Greek Parliament is a provocation. The absolute responsibility lies with [Greek] Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He talked about a historic day, but it is a historic shame. Solidarity with the Ukrainian people is a given. But the Nazis cannot have a say in Parliament,” Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras wrote on social media.
The former prime minister, Antonis Samaras, stressed that allowing the Azov video message to be broadcast in the Greek Parliament was a "big mistake", and the country's socialists wondered why Greek lawmakers hadn't been informed in advance about the neo-Nazis' speech.
Greek government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou said that showing the message from the Azov battalion was “incorrect and inappropriate”.
Over the eight years of the conflict in Donbass, members of the Azov regiment - whose ideas are similar to those of the Ukrainians who collaborated with the Nazis in the Second World War - have been accused of war crimes in the region, including kidnapping, torture, and indiscriminate looting.
Some of the fighters use insignia that is strikingly similar with Nazi emblems. For a long time, the Azov, along with other radical and extremist groups, were referred to as such in western media, but with events in the country having taken the course they have, many media have backtracked on their rhetoric against Ukrainian neo-Nazis, sometimes to the extent that they seem to be parroting Kiev's propaganda, calling them "defenders".
Russia launched a special military operation to demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine on 24 February. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, stressed that he could no longer ignore the plight of Donbass inhabitants, who had experienced years of genocide at the hands of the Kiev regime, and ordered the operation in response to a call by the Donetsk and Lugansk People's republics.

was hitler jewish?….
Israel summoned the Russian ambassador to Tel Aviv and accused Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of “racism” on Monday. The scandal blew up after Lavrov remarked that Volodymyr Zelensky’s claim that there is no neo-Nazi threat in Ukraine because the Ukrainian president is Jewish was a fallacy, since even Adolf Hitler may have had Jewish blood.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a rebuttal to Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid over his attack on Sergei Lavrov, educating the country’s authorities on the problem of neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism in contemporary Ukraine.
“We took note of the anti-historical statements of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, which largely explain the course of the current Israeli government in supporting the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev”, the Foreign Ministry wrote in an unsigned piece published Tuesday and titled "On Anti-Semitism".
“The Israeli minister said the following: ‘The Jews did not murder themselves in the Holocaust. The basest level of racism against Jews is to blame the Jews themselves for anti-Semitism’”, the ministry noted.
“For some reason, the Western media (and some of our liberals) continue to argue about whether there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine. One of the ‘watertight’ arguments used is the Jewish origin of Volodymyr Zelensky. This argument is not only untenable, but also false. History, unfortunately, knows of tragic examples of cooperation between Jews and Nazis. In Poland and other countries of Eastern Europe, the Germans appointed Jewish industrialists as the heads of ghettos and Jewish councils (‘Judenrats’)".
"Some of these are remembered for absolutely monstrous deeds. In Warsaw, [ghetto administrator] Jakub Lejkin surveilled the Jews and reported everything to the German occupation administration, dooming compatriots to certain, sometimes painful death. [Lodz ghetto administrator] Chaim Rumkowski suggested that the Jews of Lodz give their children to the Nazis to save the lives of the adult residents of the ghetto”, the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled.
The Foreign Ministry agreed with Tel Aviv University Professor Havi Dreifuss’ conclusions that the Jews’ involvement in their own persecution during the Holocaust was a “marginal phenomenon”, but certainly not a taboo, and the subject of serious academic research.
The “historical tragedy” of the ongoing Ukraine crisis is that “if during the Second World War, some Jews were forced to participate in crimes, V. Zelensky, who speculates on his [Jewish] roots, does so consciously and voluntarily. He hides behind his origins and uses them to cover up genuine neo-Nazis – the spiritual and blood heirs to the executioners of his people”, the Foreign Ministry stressed.
A president with Jewish roots is no guarantee of protection against rampant neo-Nazism, Moscow noted, pointing out that along with Ukraine, Latvia has also experienced problems with this phenomenon – with Jewish President Egils Levits covering up the rehabilitation of Waffen SS volunteers in his country.
“Do Lapid and his Cabinet not see this? Just as they cynically ignore the epidemic of the destruction and desecration of monuments to the true righteous among the nations – the troops of the Red Army who stopped the Holocaust and saved the Jewish world. How many times has the Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Poland, Bulgaria, the Baltic countries, or Ukraine itself to express their sharp protest over such actions?” the ministry asked.
