misunderstanding the putin moves….
When the Russian invasion of Ukraine started on February 24, Australian embassy staffer Nadia Teriokhina had one thought on her mind: She didn't want to get trapped behind enemy lines.
She told Anthony Albanese she counted herself among the lucky ones.
Hundreds were massacred in Bucha, outside of Kyiv, and about 10 minutes from her home in Irpin, including women and children.
Some women were raped before they were killed.
"We didn't know what to do, how to behave or where to run," she said.
"I said to my husband, 'I just don't want to be in the occupied territory,' so we went to Kyiv."
Ukrainian tanks were headed in the opposite direction as they fled.
The executive assistant embraced her boss, Australian ambassador Bruce Edwards, when they reunited outside what was left of her apartment block.
Both are waiting for the Australian embassy to reopen so they can start work in the city again.
Ms Teriokhina's own flat was undamaged, but the building was condemned as unsafe.
"I had somewhere to stay in Kyiv right now. But some of my neighbours, especially the elderly people, have nowhere to go," Ms Teriokhina said.

Ukraine is not a single homogenous country. far from it. And this is why the Donbass region separated: The Western Ukraine is populated by "Galicians" (Banderite nazis), Eastern Ukraine is populated by (Slavic) Russians. Ukraine became a country as such in 1991, when the Soviet Union bit the dust.
PUTIN DOES NOT WANT TO "CONQUER" UKRAINE. FULL STOP. UKRAINE, INCLUDING LITTLE SHIT ZELENSKYYY-YYY HAVE NOT RESPECTED THE MINKS AGREEMENTS AND KILLED 15,000 PEOPLE IN THE DONBASS REGION. Volodymyr has the blood of about 3,500 dead people on his hands. But this won't be recognised by our new PM, probably briefed by the same morons who were briefing ScoMo, getting their instructions from Washington.

The emergence of Ireland as an independent country is a fairly recent phenomenon. Until the 17th century, political power was widely shared among a rather loosely constructed network of small earldoms in often-shifting alliances. Following the so-called “Flight of the Earls” after an unsuccessful uprising in the early 17th century, Ireland effectively became an English colony. It was formally incorporated into the United Kingdom in 1801. In 1937 the southern state passed a new constitution that offered a more robust expression of sovereignty, and in 1949 it formally left the Commonwealth as the Republic of Ireland.
Since then Ireland has become integrated with the rest of western Europe. It joined the European Economic Community (forerunner of the EU) in 1973. Though the country generally retained a neutral role in international affairs, in 2008 Ireland became an impediment to the enactment of the Lisbon Treaty—an agreement aimed at streamlining the EU’s processes and giving it a higher international profile—when the Irish voted against the passage of the treaty in a national referendum. The treaty, however, was approved by Irish voters in a second referendum, held the following year.
