the folly of the blind western media......

The long-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive, touted both by the regime in Kiev and its Western backers for months, finally began this month, although it seems that it has so far failed to produce the results its masterminds desired.

While Ukrainian forces demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for losing manpower and military hardware by charging across minefields into fortified positions held by Russian forces, they haven’t managed to get close to, let alone breach, the first line of Russian defense.

Retired USAF Lt.Col. Karen Kwiatkowski, a former analyst for the US Department of Defense, told Sputnik that Western media “has reported very little concrete information about the counteroffensive,” with much of the information on the subject coming straight from Ukrainian media and thus being “difficult to verify.”

According to Kwiatkowski, Kiev was “politically pushed” into launching this counteroffensive by “its NATO sponsors,” despite the fact that, as it turned out, Ukrainian forces simply weren’t prepared for it.

SO, HOW IS THE COUNTEROFFENSIVE BEING NARRATED BY THE VARIOUS MEDIA?

IF WOULD BE WRONG TO DISMISS ALL VIEWS, YET DESPITE SOME GLORIOUS EXPOSE IN THE WESTERN MEDIA WITH “COLOUR STORIES”, THE KIEV REGIME IS LOOSING BIG TIME. KIEV WOULD KNOW THIS BUT THE LYING KIEV REGIME EXPECTS RUSSIA TO BE KIND AND MODERATE IN ITS DESTRUCTION OF ITS UKRAINIAN "BROTHERS".

DESPITE THE WESTERN MEDIA REPORTS, THE MATHEMATICS ARE SIMPLE:

— 50,000 UKRAINIANS TROOPS IN A DOOMED ASSAULT USING DISPARATE WEAPONRY

— UP TO 1,000,000 RUSSIAN SOLDIERS, 300,000 IN FORTIFIED POSITIONS

— RATIO OF KIA (KILLED IN ACTION)

AT BEST 10 UKR FOR 1 RU

AT WORSE 100 UKR FOR 1 RU

— EQUIPMENT DESTROYED:

10 UKR TANK TO ONE RU PIECE. 100 UKR GUNS FOR ONE RU

— OTHERS:

    RUSSIAN “IMPROVEMENTS”.

SOME CALLS THIS A “BUTCHERY”

SOME LAUDS THE UKRAINIAN BRAVERY

THE RUSSIAN SIDE DEPLORES ALL DEAD

THE UNREALISTIC FANATICAL DELUSIONARY UKRAINIAN SIDE WANTS TO KILL ALL RUSSIANS

THE WESTERN SIDE WANTS TO DEFEAT RUSSIA: THIS WON’T HAPPEN UNLESS….

HERE ARE A FEW SAMPLES OF NARRATIVES:

'The Russians are becoming ingenious': Ukrainian officers see invaders [RUSSIANS**] making progress

From the province of Donetsk to Zaporizhzhia, soldiers and officers are drawing lessons from the start of the counter-offensive and its modest gains, while waiting for the launch of large-scale assaults.

By Rémy Ourdan(Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia (Ukraine) special correspondent)

"At the end of the day, the Russians are like us; they're learning how to wage war..." said Corporal K., a soldier in an assault infantry company of the 116th mechanized brigade, fighting on the Orikhiv front, with a mischievous look on his face as he sipped a latte.
"Since their defeats at Izium and Kherson, the Russians have been imitating us. They're becoming more creative," said L., a soldier in an intelligence unit of the 35th Marine Infantry Brigade which, on the Velyka Novosilka front, has advanced to the right (West) bank of the Mokri Yaly river. "The Russians are becoming ingenious, both with drones and with mines," echoed D. who, at the head of a National Guard reconnaissance and combat commando, is conducting operations on the Mala Tokmachka front.

**GUSNOTE: THE RUSSIANS ARE DEFENDING THE RUSSIAN POPULATIONS OF THE DONBASS REGION, NOW BEING RUSSIAN TERRITORY BY KIEV DEFAULTING ON THE MINSK AGREEMENTS GUARANTEEING AUTONOMY.

Two weeks since the counter-offensive began, Ukraine is making modest but steady progress in three areas of attack across the 1,000km (620 mile) front line.

Troops are launching probing attacks, while most of Ukraine's forces are being held in reserve, waiting for a big enough opening in Russian defences to launch a main attack and try to recapture land in the south of the country.

The fighting has been hard, with heavy casualties on both sides*, and opposing armies claiming the upper hand. Ukraine's advance in southern Donetsk has stuttered, but continues.

The BBC joined the 68th Jaeger Brigade as its combat forces sought to expand their control eastward of the recently regained village of Blahodatne.

In their sights were a series of trenches protecting Russian forces on nearby hilltops.

*GUSNOTE: BOTH SIDES DO NOT SUFFER "HEAVY CASUALTY RATE. ONE DEAD RUSSIAN IS A HEAVY CASUALTY FOR RUSSIA. THE RUSSIANS DEPLORED THIS WESTERN-PROVOKED WAR.

Butcher's Bill.

Mr. Ze [ZELENSKY] continues to increase the intake of special substances and declared today that all Ukie Patriot PAC3 are fine and continue to shoot down Rooskie missiles in huge numbers, including yet another six Kinzhals. But while AD of 404 continues to shoot down all kinds of things, including UFOs and interstellar ships from Independence Day movie franchise, Russia MoD reports today:

Ukrainian military forces have sustained heavy casualties across the frontlines during the last 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. Russia’s Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions have seen the most intense fighting, with Kiev losing more than 800 soldiers in those regions. “Over the past day, enemy losses in the Southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions amounted to more than 800 Ukrainian servicemen, 20 tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles, [and] 15 armored fighting vehicles,” the military stated on Sunday during a daily media briefing. The ministry did not elaborate on whether its figures for casualties includes those killed and injured or fatalities exclusively. As well as these setbacks in personnel and equipment, Ukrainian troops also lost two US-made M777 howitzers and several Soviet-made artillery systems, the military added.

In the same time, the aggregate for June is reflected here in Russian MoD SitRep:

It is 14,125 [UKRAINIAN] KIAs and if dynamics remains, by the end of this month Russian Armed Forces would have completely erased the force the size of field corps. This is supported by the desperate attempts of Kiev regime to conduct mobilization already in Western provinces, such as Ivano-Frankivsk — a hot bed of Ukie Nazis and Bandera worshipers. Well, desperate times — desperate measures. But those too will be annihilated. As Spiegel reports, many VSU Leopard-2 tank crews refuse to go into battle, while some are trying to sabotage tanks altogether. Totally expected.

Just to demonstrate how all this influences the world outside increasingly insulated West. Here is Indonesian news service, with almost 7.4 million subscribers on YT alone.

Reaction of Indonesians in the past year was openly and overwhelmingly supportive of Russia. And this is just ONE example out of many. The first rule for any military strategist is to recognize the NATURE of war — a task no people in Washington are up to. When even one of the greatest Russophobes and falsifiers, late Richard Pipes noted:

We have no general staff; we grant no higher degrees in “military science”; and, except for Admiral Mahan, we have produced no strategist of international repute. America has tended to rely on its insularity to protect it from aggressors, and on its unique industrial capacity to help crush its enemies once war was under way. The United States is accustomed to waging wars of its own choosing and on its own terms. It lacks an ingrained strategic tradition. In the words of one historian, Americans tend to view both military strategy and the armed forces as something to be “employed intermittently to destroy occasional and intermittent threats posed by hostile powers.”

dam disinfo.....

THIS VERSION OF EVENTS COMES FROM THE UKRAINIAN SIDE AND SPURTED OUT BY THE WESTERN MEDIA. HERE THE SMH ARTICLE, FROM AP***:

BERISLAV: Russia had the means, motive and opportunity to bring down a Ukrainian dam that collapsed earlier this month while under Russian control, according to exclusive photos and information obtained by The Associated Press.

Images taken from above the Kakhovka Dam and shared with the AP appear to show an explosive-laden car atop the structure, and two officials said Russian troops were stationed in a crucial area inside the dam where the Ukrainians say the explosion that destroyed it was centred.

The dam’s destruction led to deadly flooding, endangered crops in the world’s breadbasket, threatened drinking water supplies and unleashed an environmental catastrophe. Ukrainian commanders say it also scuppered some of their plans to take Russian positions in a counteroffensive that is now in its early stages.

Each side has accused the other of destroying the dam, but the various Russian allegations – that it was hit by a missile or taken down by explosives – fail to account for a blast so strong that it registered on seismic monitors in the region.

In the region around the dam, the Dnipro River forms the front line between Russian and Ukrainian forces. Russians were in control of the dam itself.

Two Ukrainian commanders who had been in the area said the rising waters had quickly swamped their positions and Russian ones and destroyed equipment, forcing them to start all over again with their planning and leaving them facing a much larger distance to cover, all in mud.

Said Illia Zelinskyi, commander of Bugskiy Gard: ‘‘It’s a regular practice, to mine [places] before a retreat. In this context, their actions were to disrupt supply chains as well as complicate a crossing of the Dnipro for us.’’

In recent weeks, Ukraine’s armed forces have reported limited gains in the beginnings of a counteroffensive to take back territory seized by the Russians since their invasion in February 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin himself indirectly acknowledged the advantage to his forces last week, although he maintained Russia’s denials of responsibility while saying: ‘‘This may sound weird, but nonetheless. Unfortunately, this disrupted their counteroffensive in that area.’’

Speaking to military correspondents, he explained his use of the word ‘‘unfortunately’’ with bravado: ‘‘It would have been better if they had attacked there,’’ he said. ‘‘Better for us, because it would have ended very badly for them, attacking there.’’

Kakhovka is one of a series of Soviet-era dams along the Dnipro (or Dnieper) River that were built to withstand enormous force, amounting to thousands of pounds of explosives. They were built in the wake of the World War II Dambusters raids by the British that destroyed German dams.

Ukraine is not believed to possess any single missile with the kind of power necessary to blow up a dam wall.

Sidharth Kaushal, a researcher with the Royal United Services Institute, said the Ukrainians were not believed to have any missiles with a payload greater than about 500 kilograms. Nor does it seem credible that Ukrainian commandos could have sneaked in explosives to blow the dam, which was controlled by Russian soldiers for months.

As recently as the day before the structure’s June 6 collapse, Russians had set up a firing position inside the dam’s machine room, where Ukrhydroenergo, the agency that runs the dam system, said the explosion had originated.

The photos, taken from Ukrainian drone footage, obtained by the AP and dated May 28, show a car parked on the dam, its roof neatly cut open to reveal enormous barrels, one with what appears to be a land mine attached to the lid, and a cable running towards the Russian-held side of the river.

A Ukrainian official, who also noted the car appeared to be rigged, said he believed the purpose was twofold: to stop any Ukrainian advance on the dam and to amplify the explosion originating in the machine room and destroy the top of the dam. The car bomb itself would not have been enough to bring down the dam. AP

counter-countering.....

Russian forces have struck Ukrainian troops on several fronts in an apparent attempt to assume the initiative, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar claimed on Monday. The development comes as the much-touted Ukrainian counteroffensive of recent weeks has failed to bring about any major changes on the frontlines.

Moscow had mobilized additional forces and is mounting an “active offensive” operation in the Krasny Liman and the Kupyansk areas, Malyar said in a Telegram post, adding that the Russian troops were “trying to seize initiative from us.” Kiev’s forces in these areas had been subjected to intensive shelling, she added.

According to Malyar, Russian troops were still seeking to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Krasny Liman is a Ukrainian-held town in the northern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Kupyansk is a town in the eastern part of the Kharkov region, located not far from the Lugansk People’s Republic border. It also hosts a major railway junction.

The Russian command has supposedly concentrated significant forces in the area, including elite airborne assault units, the deputy minister said. Ukrainian troops have allegedly been able so far to thwart attempts at advancement, she added.

musk's tick.......

Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk has endorsed an article by investor and entrepreneur David Sacks arguing that Ukraine’s military push against Russia is faltering.

On Tuesday, Sacks posted an article on Twitter, claiming “it’s becoming clear that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is failing to achieve any of its originally stated objectives.”Washington’s bet that Kiev would be able to “roll back Russian territorial gains, cut the land bridge to Crimea”and make it engage in negotiations had not paid off, he added.

“On the contrary, a stalemate is more likely, or even that Russia will take more territory and win the war,” the investor stated.

He went on to compare the situation in Ukraine with the US military campaign in Afghanistan, which ended with a chaotic withdrawal of US troops in 2020. “It’s worth recalling that the American public was assured for two decades that we were winning in Afghanistan,” Sacks wrote, adding that any belief that the local military was “standing up” to the Taliban crumbled within just a few weeks.

Unfortunately, it looks like we’re headed for a similar kind of outcome in Ukraine. The only question is when, and how long Biden will be able to perpetuate a proxy war of choice that could have easily been avoided,” he claimed.

Musk appeared to agree with Sacks’ take on Ukraine, writing on Twitter: “Well said.”

Meanwhile, Sacher pointed to new evidence showing that Moscow and Kiev could have come to an agreement at the very start of the conflict last year, referring to a draft treaty on neutrality and security guarantees for Ukraine shown by Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week.

However, the negotiations on the matter broke down in the spring 2022 after Ukraine accused Russia of committing war crimes, a claim Moscow has vehemently denied. The alleged atrocities were discovered after Russian troops withdrew from areas around Kiev in a “goodwill gesture,”according to Moscow.

Kiev’s troops launched their long-anticipated offensive in early June, but their attacks have failed to gain any ground, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, which last week estimated Ukrainian frontline losses since the start of the push at 7,500. Meanwhile, Putin has claimed that Ukraine has lost up to 30% of its Western-supplied military equipment.
