During a speech on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden seemed to claim that his administration had cured cancer.

“I said I’d cure cancer. They looked at me like, ‘Why cancer’? Because no one thinks we can. That’s why. And we can. We ended cancer as we know it,” Biden said during a speech in the East Room of the White House.

Biden was scheduled to speak about expanding Americans’ access to mental health care. After the cancer remark, he continued to talk about healthcare for military veterans, which is run by the federal government. 

The strange claim was quickly noticed by Republicans, who have often accused the 80-year-old Democrat of behaving as if afflicted by dementia. 

“Biden just told everyone that he cured cancer. I feel like that would have at least gotten a press release,” quipped Congresswoman Lauren Boebert of Colorado.

Biden cured cancer in the same way that he marched for civil rights, was arrested trying to see Nelson Mandela, grew up in the black church, was raised in the Puerto Rican community, was a professor at UPenn, built the greatest economy in the world, and never spoke to his son about business,” tweeted Texas activist Christian Collins. 

Those were just some of the claims Biden had made over his 50-year political career that turned out to be tall tales. The longtime Democrat also has a history of misspeaking in public. Just last week, he introduced himself as an artificial intelligence. The week before, in Europe, he urged Russia to “stop attacking Russia.” Earlier this month, he also claimed that Moscow was “losing the war in Iraq.” 

Biden’s elder son Beau passed away in 2015 from an aggressive brain cancer, which his father has publicly attributed to “burn pits,” a method used by the US military to dispose of garbage. Beau Biden was reportedly exposed to the toxic pits during his 2008 deployment in Iraq as a military lawyer, and earlier as a contractor in Kosovo.

In February 2022, Biden announced a government program to find a cure for cancer, dubbing it a re-launch of the Obama administration’s 2016 ‘Cancer Moonshot’. The new program’s goal was to “reduce the cancer death rate by half within 25 years and improve the lives of people with cancer and cancer survivors,” according to the National Cancer Institute.

In March this year, Biden had surgery to remove from his chest a “small skin lesion” that had “basal cell carcinoma,” according to the White House physician.

Chinese president urged military to prepare for war with ‘declining’ West – media

 

Xi Jinping reportedly warned in 2020 that a regional conflict could spiral out of control 

Chinese President Xi Jinping told military leaders at a meeting in 2020 that with his country “rising” and the West “declining,” Beijing needed to prepare for a war between both sides, Japan’s Kyodo News reported on Monday.

Citing documents from a December 2020 meeting between Xi and the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Military Commission, the Japanese outlet claimed that Xi declared “the East is rising and the West is declining.”

Amid this shifting power balance, Xi predicted that a localized conflict could break out and widen, although he supposedly ruled out the possibility of a third world war. It is unclear where Xi saw such a conflict originating, but Kyodo News suggested that he viewed Taiwan as a likely flashpoint.

The documents were reportedly compiled after the 2020 meeting and issued to Chinese commanders and party officials last summer. By that point, Russia was fighting what President Vladimir Putin termed “the entire Western military machine” in Ukraine, and tensions between the US and China over Taiwan had reached a boiling point over US President Joe Biden’s repeated insistence that he would defend the Chinese-claimed island with military force.

At the time of Xi’s meeting, Russia’s military operation in Ukraine was still more than a year away, and although then-US president Donald Trump was waging a trade war against Beijing, relations between the two superpowers hadn’t yet reached the nadir that they would under the Biden administration.

Regardless, Xi reportedly stressed the need for the Chinese military to “prepare for the outbreak of a war and its chain reactions,” and ordered commanders to “be constantly ready for fighting” to defend China’s sovereignty and national interest.

Xi’s comments took place behind closed doors, but the Chinese leader often makes similar statements in public. He instructed troops to “comprehensively strengthen military training in preparation for war” during a visit to a command center last year, and in April told soldiers to focus their training toward “actual combat” in defense of China’s “territorial sovereignty and maritime interests.” 

While Xi has also referred to the West as “declining” before, he reportedly cautioned during the 2020 meeting that its military advantage “basically remains unchanged.”

My friend, Andrei Martyanov, published a short piece on Antony Blinken’s latest public demonstration of schizophrenia and I want to elaborate on Andrei’s astonishment at Blinken’s total detachment from reality. There may be a medical explanation. According to the Mayo Clinic, schizophrenia is:

a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning, and can be disabling. 

Keep that definition in mind as you watch Fareed Zakaria interview Blinken. It is truly jaw dropping:

 

Blinken’s calm, earnest demeanor masks the deranged substance of his remarks. Let me highlight some of the crazy train moments from this sit-down with Fareed.

Well, first read put this in perspective in terms of what Russia sought to achieve, what Putin sought to achieve. They’ve already failed. They’ve already lost.

But I’m convinced that with the equipment and support they’ve received now from more than 50 countries with the training that their forces have gotten, and many of the forces who’ve gotten that training have not yet been fully into this fight.

And we made sure going back to Labor Day before the war, Christmas before the war, that they started to get in their hands, the equipment they would need if the Russians went forward, javelin, stingers, they had that on hand. They were able to repel the attack against Kiev.

Blinken is either suffering from a debilitating case of schizophrenia or he is a liar. There is no middle ground. He claims that Russia has “already lost.” Yet Putin and his Generals have not received that memo and continue to bombard Ukrainian military targets throughout Ukraine with hypersonic missiles and glide bombs at will. Ukraine has no answer and Western-supplied air defense systems have failed to put even a dent in the Russian effort. 

Russian military ground forces continue to decimate attacking Ukrainian forces and have launched their own counter-offensive operations, which are pushing Ukrainian troops back.

Ignore for the moment Ukraine’s failure to punch through the first of Russia’s three defensive bands in the south and just focus on the fact that the United States cannot produce and deliver in a timely manner the weapons Ukraine supposedly needs to prevail over Russia. A prime example is the Stinger missile.

To replenish its own stocks, the U.S. Army placed an order for 1700 new Stinger launcher units back in May 2022. However, the Pentagon reported that it would take as long as 30 months (or two and a half years) for the completed MANPADS to start rolling off the assembly line. 

The reason behind this lengthy timeframe is quite straightforward—several components for these MANPADS are no longer in production, necessitating the exploration of new methods and possibly novel technological improvements to resume production and increase its rates in the nearest time.

As an example, American engineers have encountered difficulties in manufacturing the homing heads for these MANPADS, so this component will potentially require conducting research and developing replacement modules.

Similar shortcomings in being able to supply Javelins, M77 artillery and 155 mm artillery shells. Is Blinken not talking to President Sleepy Joe Biden? Two weeks ago Biden let slip that the U.S. did not have enough 155 mm conventional shells for Ukraine, which is why he opted to approve sending cluster munitions:

“This is a war relating to munitions. And they’re running out of that ammunition, and we’re low on it,” Biden told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria. “And so, what I finally did, I took the recommendation of the Defense Department to – not permanently – but to allow for this transition period while we get more 155 weapons, these shells, for the Ukrainians.”

It is alarming that America’s top diplomat is so divorced from reality. His denial of what is happening on the ground in Ukraine makes it highly unlikely that he could even contemplate a feasible negotiation with Russia to put a stop to the slaughter of Ukrainian troops. Blinken and his ilk have deluded themselves into believing that repeating nonsense about the illusionary “success” of Ukraine in its fight with Russia validates the anti-Russia policy of Joe Biden. Reality destroys schizophrenic fantasies. The day is coming when Blinken will no longer be able to make such silly pronouncements because the reality of Russia’s victory will not be hidden.

A joke by Hamish Blake at the expense of GPs has drawn the ire of the medical community and NSW MPs.

The esteemed comedian and presenter last week joked general medical practice was the highest-paying job he could do competently for a day.

“I do a lot of Googling medical issues and I have got now 20 years’ experience of going to the GP,” he said on his Hamish and Andy podcast.

 

The dual Gold Logie winner qualified the statement with the “greatest respect to (the) profession” and said he was not “s—ting on GPs here because they’re very good and you do need to go to medical school”.

The Lego Masters host said he would refer any serious cases such as breathing difficulties to emergency departments or other specialists.

But the joke fell flat in the medical community, general practitioner turned Greens MP Amanda Cohn said.

Amid a national shortage, she said it was not OK to “punch down on an exhausted, undervalued and essential workforce”.

“The perception that GPs are somehow lesser doctors is widespread,” she told NSW Parliament on Wednesday.

“GPs know more about gynaecology than cardiologists, more about cardiology than orthopaedic surgeons, and more about orthopaedics than psychiatrists.”

One rural GP contacted Dr Cohn to invite Blake to spend a day in her clinic to see first-hand the variety of complex and numerous presentations.

Other GPs had recalled instances of back pain turning out to be metastatic prostate cancer, reflux being a heart attack or a baby’s fever being the early signs of meningitis, the Greens MP said.

 

Opposition MP Damien Tudehope later rose to recall his father delivering triplets as the GP overseeing a small rural hospital.

Upper House MPs later agreed to Dr Cohn’s motion that dubbed Blake’s comments “as ridiculous as thinking that being a frequent flyer equips you with the skills to fly an aircraft”.

Blake, through Southern Cross Austereo, has been contacted for comment.

A US cancer research center linked with Harvard University has retracted six studies and corrected dozens of others, after a British scientist discovered their authors falsified data by “photoshopping” images of cell samples and test results.

In a statement to CNN on Monday, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston said that it was reviewing 50 research papers by four of its top scientists, including the institute’s CEO, Dr. Laurie Glimcher, and its chief operating officer, Dr. William Hahn. 

Six manuscripts “have retractions underway,” 31 have been “identified as warranting corrections” and another one “remains under examination” for an error, a Dana-Farber spokesman told the network.
