the future in davos.....Russia will again be absent from the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos early next year, Russian Ambassador to Switzerland Sergey Garmonin has confirmed. The high-profile gathering of international business and political figures is scheduled to take place at the Swiss Alpine resort between January 15 and 19. “Russia will not be represented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, since the organizers didn’t send invitations to the Russians last year and this year,” Garmonin told TASS news agency on Tuesday. Russia skipped Davos 2023 after the organizers said its participation at the event would be“unwelcome” due to Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. According to the WEF, its relations with Russian firms sanctioned due to conflict were frozen. The ambassador said he didn’t think Russia would lose anything by missing out on the WEF again in 2024. “In my opinion, only the forum itself loses from such a decision,” he said. According to Garmonin, Moscow “will continue to solve… problems in other formats and on other platforms.” The diplomat also criticized plans by the Swiss organizers to hold a meeting dedicated to discussions about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s ten-point peace plan to settle the conflict with Russia. Meetings like this “are divorced from reality and lack any added value. They will not bring peace any closer,”he argued. Zelensky’s “peace formula” calls for Russia’s withdrawal from all territories claimed by Kiev, reparations from Moscow, and a war crimes tribunal. Ukraine “is in no position to put forward any ultimatums to Russia, and everyone understands this perfectly well,” Garmonin insisted. “The Kiev regime, which has no hopes of achieving even the slightest success on the battlefield, is denying the obvious and feeding the West with unfeasible projects in its attempts to solicit yet another military assistance package.” Russia’s Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy said last week that Kiev had squandered its chances of a “favorable” agreement with Moscow. “Any possible deal now will be reflecting its capitulation,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter.) READ MORE: Russia wants to improve ties with NATO, not fight – PutinDuring his Q&A session on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that “there will be peace [in Ukraine] when we achieve our goals.” The aims of the Russian military operation “are not changing,” and include the “denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, its neutral status,” Putin reiterated. https://www.rt.com/news/589320-davos-wef-switzerland-ukraine/

Putin vs Schwab: The Davos Rift ExplainedThis insightful video probes the complex and often intricate relationship between Russia and the World Economic Forum in Davos. We explore the reasons behind Russia's notable absence from this influential global stage, a gathering renowned for shaping economic and geopolitical agendas worldwide.
The video begins by examining the historical context of the Russian Federation's interactions with the World Economic Forum and also highlights the role of Ukraine and Zelensky in this international narrative, particularly in the context of recent conflicts and their repercussions on global security and diplomacy.
The analysis further extends to the role of influential figures like Klaus Schwab and the impact of their policies on international relations and global governance. We take a closer look at President Putin's critical stance towards the WEF's vision of a one-world government dominated by multinational corporations and billionaire "philanthropists" and his candid critiques of Davos' economic philosophies. In his historic 2021 speech, Putin underscored the failure of deregulation and trickle-down economics, as promoted by the WEF, in improving global livelihoods. In a world where digital technology and the Fourth Industrial Revolution are reshaping international dynamics, this video critically examines the role of decentralization, economic power, and the evolving landscape of international cooperation and confrontation.
This video is not just another conspiracy theory about global elites or a simplistic narrative about socialism and communism. It steers clear of unfounded speculations and instead provides a nuanced view of the geopolitical risks and economic challenges facing nations like Russia in the face of global crises. It's not an endorsement of any particular viewpoint on central planning or collective ownership. Rather, it offers an objective analysis of the World Economic Forum's influence on global capitalism and its implications for individual freedom and economic development.
This video doesn't purport to offer a comprehensive explanation of the intricate dynamics between Russia and the World Economic Forum (WEF), nor does it fully detail the specific climate change policies of Xi Jinping or Russia, or their economic approaches. Rather, it prompts viewers to engage in critical thinking about the initiatives of the forum, including The Great Reset, and their impact on global matters such as economic policies, security, technology, capitalism, and democracy.
It also explores how these initiatives influence the relationships between countries and prominent international organizations. In essence, this video is a thought-provoking exploration of international dynamics, not a platform for unfounded theories or biased perspectives on global governance and the role of entities like the World Economic Forum.

favourable rates....
The Swiss government can’t afford to send its own officials to the World Economic Forum’s elite yearly get-together in Davos, and is asking even “higher level” dignitaries to share hotel rooms, the Neue Zuercher Zeitung reported on Saturday.
The Alpine resort town of Davos will play host to politicians, business leaders and celebrities when the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting kicks off on Monday. The gathering is an opportunity for like-minded liberal elites to network and discuss their shared interest in eliminating fossil fuels, boosting “diversity and equity,”and planning for calamitous diseases, among other much-maligned proposals.
The influx of elites naturally drives the cost of accommodation in Davos through the roof, and even the Swiss government is feeling the pinch, according to an official audit cited by the Neue Zuercher Zeitung.
The WEF made 25 hotel rooms available to representatives of the Swiss federal government last year. 20 of these were inside the heavily-policed “security zone,” and priced at 1,269.90 francs ($1,472) per night, while five outside this zone cost the Swiss taxpayer 599.90 francs ($705) each.
According to the audit, these prices were set after “complicated negotiations” between the WEF and local hotels, and were considered “favorable” rates.
However, federal expense regulations only allow Swiss government officials to spend a maximum of 180 francs ($211) per night, or 250 francs ($293) in what the newspaper called “justified exceptional cases.”
With prices running nearly ten times this rate, the government is making some cutbacks this year, Economy Minister Guy Parmelin told the paper. Parmelin said that the size of this year’s delegation is being kept“as small as possible,” and that some members will stay in the town of Chur, 50 kilometers from Davos.
While the government has managed to secure hotel rooms in Chur for the comparative bargain of 190 francs per night, delegates will still have to share rooms in some cases. Even those at the “higher levels of the hierarchy” will have to bunk up, Parmelin stated.
Some 5,000 Swiss soldiers will be deployed throughout the country during the WEF’s gathering, the Swiss Defense Ministry said last week. A sizable contingent of these will be housed outside the town, but will not be subjected to the same spending limits as the government delegation, the newspaper reported. Soldiers on duty at last year’s summit had an even better arrangement, staying in the resort itself.

panic and reject....
PANIC:
US diplomats are scrambling to hold on to their influence in Switzerland, as their Chinese counterparts attempt to woo the country’s top officials during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Politico reported on Monday, citing sources.
The outlet said American officials were so alarmed by the size of the Chinese delegation at the event that they rushed to arrange a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Swiss President Viola Amherd to ensure Washington does not lose influence in the Alpine country, famed for its neutrality and status as a mediation powerhouse.
Politico cited an internal State Department memo dated January 12 as outlining US strategy in this regard. It reportedly warns that Beijing “will have 10 state ministers in attendance,” with Scott Miller, the US ambassador in Bern, suggesting the delegation had all the hallmarks of a “pseudo state visit.”
The document reportedly further underscores the importance China attaches to the trip, noting that the delegation was to be headed by Premier Li Qiang, described in the memo as the “No. 2” to Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Miller believes it would be bad optics if S[ecretary] doesn’t at least have a handshake with new Pres of Swiss Confederation,” the paper is said to note, adding that Amherd “has made herself completely available” for a sit down.
Meanwhile, Li and Amherd held talks on Monday, bolstering an already existing free trade agreement and discussing cooperation and mediation issues. China has also agreed to grant Swiss citizens visa-free entry.
At the same time, a spokesperson for the State Department told Politico that Blinken was also expected to meet with Swiss officials, although the exact timing remains unclear. The top US diplomat will be in Davos on Tuesday and Wednesday and is likely to meet Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, as well as a number of Western leaders, according to the article.
Washington’s apparent effort to step up its diplomatic game comes just as it has once again locked horns with Beijing in the aftermath of the presidential election in Taiwan, which China considers part of its sovereign territory.
After the US congratulated Taiwanese President-elect William Lai, who is a supporter of a pro-independence course, China stated that this message sent a “gravely wrong signal,” and protested the US having “any form of official interaction with Taiwan and interfering in Taiwan affairs.”

REJECT:
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has intervened to stop Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek from attending the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) meeting in Davos this week over the organization’s stance on the Israel-Hamas war, Bloomberg reported on Monday.
Simsek was due to travel to Switzerland for the annual gathering of business and political elites until Erdogan called off the trip, Bloomberg reported, citing “people familiar with the matter.”
It is unclear how many others were planning on traveling in Simsek’s delegation, with Bloomberg simply stating that the Turkish leader had “asked his country’s officials to skip” the summit.
Back in October, WEF founder Klaus Schwab released a statement condemning Hamas’ “terrorist attacks against Israel.” The statement also called for the protection of “the civilian population in Gaza,” without explicitly stating whether this responsibility fell on Israeli forces or the Palestinian militants.
Erdogan has been far more scathing in his criticism of the Jewish state, accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza and declaring that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “no different than Hitler.”
The Turkish president has not been to Davos since 2009, when he took part in a debate with Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres. Erdogan, who at the time was Türkiye’s prime minister, berated Peres over Israel’s incursion into Gaza the previous year, before announcing that “I don't think I will come back to Davos after this” as he left the stage.
A WEF spokesperson told Bloomberg that the “serious security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East will be a key focus,” of this year’s summit, and that “over 50 leaders from the Arab world, including a Palestinian high-level representative” will be present during the weeklong meeting.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog will sit down for an interview with Schwab on Thursday, while UN and Red Cross officials will brief attendees on the humanitarian situation in Gaza on Tuesday.
Türkiye arrested 33 people suspected of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency earlier this month, accusing them of plotting to conduct “reconnaissance” work including “pursuing, assaulting and kidnapping” foreign nationals living in Türkiye on behalf of Israel. The arrests came after Ronen Bar, director of the Israeli Shin Bet intelligence agency, warned that West Jerusalem would hunt down Hamas operatives in multiple foreign countries, including Türkiye.

zelensky is mad.....
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin’s entire family with “criminal trials” and long prison sentences, during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday.
Zelensky’s address to the gathering of aspiring global leaders focused on asking for more weapons, money, and ammunition so he could continue to fight Russia. At one point, however, he made a reference to the Russian leader’s family.
Putin will not “rest in peace, both in this world and in the next,” said Zelensky. "Neither his children, nor his grandchildren.”
The Russian leader is “the sole reason why various wars and conflicts persist” and he must be held accountable so his “aggression” doesn’t embolden other “autocracies,” Zelensky insisted.
“Yes, we are not terrorists, and therefore these will be criminal trials,” after which Putin and his entire family would spend “a long, multi-year vacation” behind bars, he added.
Zelensky has repeatedly insisted that Ukraine does not engage in terrorism, while admitting he would have Putin assassinated if the opportunity arose. The Ukrainian security service, the SBU, has operated a dedicated assassination unit since 2015, according to its former chief.
The Washington Post recently highlighted the SBU’s campaign of assassinations while attempting to deflect any blame from the CIA, which is deeply embedded in Ukrainian intelligence.
Ukraine has targeted local Russian officials, as well as journalists such as Darya Dugina and Vladlen Tatarsky. Writer Zakhar Prilepin survived an assassination attempt, while Russian security services thwarted a SBU hit on RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan in November.
Zelensky’s mention of Putin’s grandchildren came just a day after Anne Applebaum – an American journalist and wife of Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski – claimed that the Russian president “has a grandson with Dutch citizenship.” Her source was an associate of Alexey Navalny, a Russian blogger imprisoned for embezzlement.
The Russian president was married from 1983 to 2013 and has two daughters, who have stayed out of the media spotlight. His ex-wife, Lyudmila Ocheretnaya, was sanctioned by the UK in 2022.

“Switzerland wants to hold Ukraine peace summit” (SRF News), “Switzerland wants to win over China for peace summit” (“Tages-Anzeiger”), “Ukrainian peace summit. ‘It was quite a coup that this agreement was reached in Switzerland’” (Welt online) – this is how the media at home and abroad announced the alleged good news on 15/16 January. Anyone hoping that in a world of wars and humanitarian disasters this would mean the Federal Council returning to the task of neutral Switzerland is sadly mistaken.
In fact, the “peace summit” was not even slightly what it claimed to be. On the eve of the WEF, on 14 January 2024, the Federal Council organised a meeting in Davos “within the framework of the Ukrainian peace formula”, at which Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis and the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, discussed “principles for a lasting and just peace in Ukraine” with around 80 “national security advisors”. This was the fourth “peace formula” meeting since June 2023.1 By the way, the number of 80 is misleading: it is not 80 states that support the Western agenda, since the meeting was also attended by diplomats from India, Brazil and other states in the Global South, who merely wanted to be informed rather than being part of the Western narrative.
‘Peace formula’ from Kiev
The formula consists of ten points and reads like a victor’s dictate to the loser.2 Unconditional surrender is what they call it – rather unrealistic in view of the fact that the Ukrainian army is less and less a threat to the Russians. And furthermore, in view of knowing that Ukraine would quickly go bankrupt if it were to be cut off from the drip feed of the USA and its networks. The ten points include the complete evacuation of the territories “occupied” by Russia (“occupied” at the request of the respective population, mw), the “complete withdrawal of all Russian troops”, a war tribunal and reparation payments at Russia’s expense, the integration of Ukraine “into the transatlantic security structures of NATO” and finally a “peace treaty” that would contain all the points mentioned here and a few more – as I said, an unconditional surrender by Russia.
The Russian government was neither invited to the “peace summit” nor was it keen to dance along with the “geopolitical peacocks” at the “carnival” in Davos. Russian journalist Elena Karayeva comments: “In the Davos carnival club […] what is happening now is called the ‘peace conference on Ukraine’. Orwellwould be green with envy. The proxy war unleashed by those who want to lead the discussion is now called ‘security guarantees for Kiev’. Almost two years ago, Moscow tried to obtain real security guarantees, but our voice wouldn’t be heard.”3
Media conference: 1.5 billion francs of taxpayers’ money for ‘reconstruction’
At the media conference the day after the summit, Swiss President Viola Amherdannounced that Switzerland was ready to organise a peace conference with a “special focus on reconstruction”, for which she had “allocated” CHF 1.5 billion over the next four years.4 This without asking Swiss taxpayers! Having just been appointed President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd was visibly enjoying herself. What Zelensky said at the conference was not available to listeners unfamiliar with Ukrainian, as the translation on SRF News did not work.
However, there were three revealing questions from the media representatives. The first question was about Zelensky’s financial expectations (his main interest, as we know): Many schools and hospitals were destroyed, he said, but – and this is remarkable – the electricity infrastructure was less affected this winter than last year. Do you remember? At that time, it was mainly the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, occupied by the Russians, that was shelled – they would hardly have shelled themselves. The second question (Reuters) was about the planned peace conference: “Should China and Russia be involved?” Zelensky’s answer: “We are open to all countries that recognise our territorial conditions.” Note: So, the participation of the two major powers in the East is rather unlikely. Third question (“Neue Zürcher Zeitung”): “What role can China play?” Zelensky’s answer: “China is important, we would like it to join our peace formula. But our wishes are not the only thing that matters. All civilised countries will take part in this peace summit.”
Does Kiev, London and Washington consider China to be a “civilised country”? In any case, the obedient Federal Councillor Cassis is getting ready “according to well-informed sources” to take the road to Beijing (“Tages-Anzeiger” of 15 January 2024). I wonder if he really wants to try to get China on Nato’s side? That will be rather tricky.
‘WEF becomes a propaganda tool of the West: Switzerland loses neutrality’
This is the title of an article by “Russian Market” in RT DE on 13 January 2024.5 The author unfortunately describes Switzerland’s political coordinates correctly, namely as partly imposed from outside, but also partly self-imposed: “In the midst of a paradigm shift in global diplomacy, Switzerland is noticeably retreating due to self-imposed EU and US sanctions. These decisions not only affect its neutral position, but also lead to a significant change in international perception. The former haven of diplomatic serenity is now in a phase of fading out.” Instead of Switzerland, Middle Eastern diplomats are now conducting negotiations, often successfully. The “peace formula meeting”, at which Russia is not welcome, is “another example of Switzerland’s dwindling neutrality.” Market concludes: “These days, Switzerland is not only experiencing the lowest temperatures of this winter, but also a frosty phase with regard to its traditional neutrality. Switzerland’s former mediation successes are fading and its role as a neutral platform for negotiations is faltering.”
It is sad to read this assessment from Russia, but unfortunately it is confirmed by the constant attacks on Switzerland’s neutrality from transatlantic Swiss writing rooms: “[...] neutrality will only not degenerate into an empty formula in today’s world if it is used to serve Switzerland’s interests as a country open to the world. [...] It is therefore in its own interest that Switzerland supports the demands made in the Ukrainians’ so-called peace formula [...] – even if this means taking sides with Ukraine (and with European freedom).”6
President Vladimir Putin debunks the ‘peace formula’
At least both the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” and Federal Councillor Cassis have realised that ultimately there can be no peace conference without Russia: Editor Fischer: “But Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis was also right when he emphasised in Davos that ultimately a peace agreement is only possible with Russia and that a peace conference must include Moscow and its supporters.” President Vladimir Putin has already made it clear what he thinks of the Davos peace theatre and what is at stake: the so-called peace formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is nothing more than a continuation of the “ban” on negotiations with Russia. The core of the peace formula is the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. Nobody can force Russia to give up the territories it has conquered so far, Putin said. “Everyone understands that this is not possible.” Putin stated that “the initiative on the battlefield [was] entirely in the hands of the Russian armed forces” and urgently warned Ukraine “against ending its existence as a state”. According to Putin, the conflict could have ended a year and a half ago if Ukraine had implemented the agreements reached during the negotiations in Istanbul. However, the “fools” in Kiev, controlled by the West, would then have decided to continue fighting.7
So why not consider resuming the relationship with Russia that the Federal Council severed under pressure from the US/UK? However, this would require some effort on Switzerland’s part.
Back to our roots: a credible policy of neutrality for peace
Finally, a word from the appeal “Left and Greens say yes to the neutrality initiative” – to the Federal Council and media editors in the notebook: “We advocate for an open and multicultural Switzerland. Paragraph 4 of the initiative calls for Switzerland to actively contribute to preventing and mediating conflicts in the future. Our country will not take sides in international conflicts but will unequivocally offer itself as a platform for negotiations to any state of the international community. As a meeting place for diverse cultures and worldviews, Switzerland can promote peace in the world. Our neutrality policy must also be credible towards countries of the Global South and those without Western-oriented democratic systems.” •
