J.K. Rowling shared a social media thread on Monday, the day a new Scottish hate-crime law took effect, that misgendered several transgender women and appeared to imply trans women have a penchant for sexual predation. On Tuesday, Scottish police announced they would not be investigating the “Harry Potter” author’s remarks as a crime, as some of Rowling’s critics had called for.
“We have received complaints in relation to the social media post,” a spokesperson for Police Scotland said in a statement. “The comments are not assessed to be criminal and no further action will be taken.”
Scotland’s new Hate Crime and Public Order Act criminalizes “stirring up hatred” against people based on their race, religion, disability, sexuality or gender identity.
“In passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act, Scottish lawmakers seem to have placed higher value on the feelings of men performing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the rights and freedoms of actual women and girls,” Rowling wrote, in part. “The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces, the nonsense made of crime data if violent and sexual assaults committed by men are recorded as female crimes, the grotesque unfairness of allowing males to compete in female sports, the injustice of women’s jobs, honours and opportunities being taken by trans-identified men, and the reality and immutability of biological sex.”
Rowling also appeared to test the new measure by sharing images of 10 transgender women — pairing a convicted rapist and sexual offender alongside an activist and a broadcaster — and referring to them all as men.
“I’m currently out of the country, but if what I’ve written here qualifies as an offense under the terms of the new act, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the birthplace of the Scottish Enlightenment,” she wrote.
Rowling doubled down on her criticisms of the law on Tuesday and celebrated the announcement by police that she would not be prosecuted.
“I hope every woman in Scotland who wishes to speak up for the reality and importance of biological sex will be reassured by this announcement, and I trust that all women — irrespective of profile or financial means — will be treated equally under the law,” she wrote on X.
Rowling has faced criticism for years for her comments about transgender people, including questioning whether more young people have come out as transgender in recent years as the result of a “contagion” fueled by social media. She has also contended that trans girls and women pose a sexual violence threat to cisgender women in restrooms, changing rooms and prisons, and reiterated those claims on Monday.
“It is impossible to accurately describe or tackle the reality of violence and sexual violence committed against women and girls, or address the current assault on women’s and girls’ rights, unless we are allowed to call a man a man,” Rowling wrote Monday. “Freedom of speech and belief are at an end in Scotland if the accurate description of biological sex is deemed criminal.”
In 1953, John McCloy, former U.S. Under Secretary of War, former President of the World Bank and former High Commissioner in Germany, took over as president of the Ford Foundation. In this last role, McCloy provided cover for numerous CIA agents. It was he who, as president of the foundation, ensured that the agency’s interests were met, creating an internal committee to deal specifically with the CIA, composed of himself and two other foundation executives. “They would check with this specific committee and, when it was judged to be a reasonable thing, that did not go against the long-term interests of the Foundation, the project was handed over to internal staff and other executives of the house [without that they] were aware of the origins of the proposal”, said McCloy’s biographer, quoted by Frances Stonor Saunders in her book “Who Paid the Piper? The CIA and the Cultural Cold War”.
“Once this arrangement was established,” the author continues, “the Ford Foundation was officially engaged as one of the organizations that the CIA could mobilize in the political war against communism. The foundation’s archives reveal a wealth of joint projects” (p. 160).
The Ford Foundation has always been infested with CIA agents, from the highest to the lowest levels of the entity. Some of its presidents, such as Paul G. Hoffman (the entity’s first president), John McCloy and McGeorge Bundy, were important U.S. government officials and worked directly with the CIA.
In September 1950, the Ford Foundation’s charter of principles was established, which remains in force to this day. Known as the Gaither Report (because he was responsible for its preparation), it presupposed “investments in institutions, new theories [our emphasis], publication channels and training of personnel and professional elites in Social Sciences”, highlights Wanderson Chaves, doctor in History by the University of São Paulo, citing the Report (Revista Crítica Histórica, Year VI, n° 11, July/2015, p. 234). The report itself stipulated intrinsic collaboration with the State Department and the CIA.
One of the fundamental centers of action of this Ford Foundation policy has since then been universities. Among the main efforts of this collaboration was the establishment of “long-term education and training of political elites for the ‘undeveloped’ areas of the world, so that they could form national and international executive boards in the future”. In order to improve the image of the United States in the world in a “Cold War” scenario, for example, activities were put into practice that aimed to manipulate the meaning of the struggle of black people. “It was proposed that racial conflicts, addressed in literature as a drama of North American social tensions, were reworked, especially academically, to be presented and publicized as a healthy expression of the improvement of the national public sphere and, hence, the potential of its democratic philosophy” (p. 236).
Thus, what we can consider as the embryo of modern identitarianism emerged. And it was born directly from the offices of the Central Intelligence Agency with the aim of combating revolutionary tendencies within the popular masses around the world. In recent decades, the racial issue has ceased to have a social class character and has become a cultural thing: racism does not exist because its victims traditionally were from lower social classes, whose labor force was exploited by the upper classes — it exists because a culture was created within society, that is, the culprit for it is not an economically oppressive social class that dominates society, but rather society as a whole, including its poor and exploited members. Therefore, the enemy to be fought is not the exploiters of the entire people, the bourgeoisie and its international expression (imperialism), but ordinary citizens and, ultimately, the exploited themselves. This policy, therefore, only serves to perpetuate the oppression imposed on all people by the ruling class, and in fact does not combat racism at all.
Gender discontent is just a phase for most kids, a new study shows. Will transition pushers leave those kids alone? ‘Progressive’ educators seem hell-bent on turning a passing state of confusion into irreversible decisions many come to regret
BY ROBERT BRIDGE
Thousands of children will likely regret going under the knife to change their sex as the majority of gender-confused kids have been found to shed the confusion by the time they are fully grown adults.
Search anywhere on social media these days and you’ll find endless chatter on the subject of young people ruminating over a sex change. Coming at a critical time in a child’s development, the messaging can sow tremendous confusion. And what has been missing from the conversation is how many of these young people eventually grow out of their feelings over time.
One such adolescent, ‘Rebecca,’ was 11 years old when she began to identify as transgender. At the age of 13, at the emotionally sensitive time when puberty sets in, she broke the unsettling news to her friends and family. That same year, the doctors prescribed her puberty blockers and testosterone. At the tender age of 16, she went under the knife for a double mastectomy. Less than a year later, however, she understood that she’d made a terrible mistake.
“I need to open up about my experience,” Rebecca told RT via email. “I want others to understand that they needn’t go through the same trauma that I did.”
At the age of 17, Rebecca belongs to a growing number of individuals known as “detransitioners,” those who hope to reverse a sex-change operation, often after coming to the conclusion that they are comfortable with their biological sex. But making the journey back from such extreme medical procedures is far from easy, and many young people will suffer for the rest of their lives with an irreversible decision they made as minors.
In the West, the number of minors experiencing gender dysphoria has exploded. Between 2009 and 2019, the number of children being referred for transitioning treatment in the United Kingdom surged 1,000% among biological males and 4,400% among biological females. In the US, the number of young people identifying as transgender has almost doubled since 2017, according to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.
Now, a landmark 15-year study concludes that what this new medicine recognizes as “being transgender”is, more often than not, just a passing phase for kids. Researchers from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands monitored more than 2,700 people from age 11 to their mid-twenties, questioning them every three years for sentiments about their gender.
At the start of the study, published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, about one in ten children (11 percent) expressed ‘gender non-contentedness’ to varying degrees. By age 25, however, just one in 25 (4%) said they ‘often’ or ‘sometimes’ were discontent with their gender, the Daily Mail reported.
The researchers concluded: “The results of the current study might help adolescents to realize that it is normal to have some doubts about one’s identity and one’s gender identity during this age period and that this is also relatively common.”
Will this revelation slow down the advent of sex-drenched lessons in ‘progressive’ Western classrooms? Will educators stop and consider the findings of the data and let kids enjoy their childhood years before they are introduced to these radical ideas? Of course, shielding kids from the messaging in the age of social media is virtually impossible, and questions will naturally arise from some of the students. So if teachers feel the need to breach the subject on an individual basis (as opposed to discussions in front of the entire classroom), this should be done privately in the company of parents and counselors as the children are reassured that they will likely grow out of their mixed feelings over time. The problem, however, is that the wheels of change have already been set in motion and it is doubtful they will reverse anytime soon.
In 2022, members of the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teacher’s union in the US, laid out ways for teachers to introduce gender pronouns to children starting in pre-kindergarten, in a webinar titled “Using Pronouns to Create a Safe, Welcoming, and Inclusive Environment.” It was recommended that schools ask students their preferred pronouns and add LGBTQ+ books to school library shelves.
In light of the latest findings, will these methods be re-evaluated? If doubting their gender identity is only a passing phase for most children, then aggressively pushing the ideas of transgenderism and things like gender fluidity seems like a sure-fire way to exacerbate this phase and turn it into full-blown gender dysphoria. This, in turn, can possibly lead to a sex-change operation somewhere down the road that will be largely irreversible.
Meanwhile, there are other ways that children are being set up to question their gender identity. Public libraries have gotten in on the action, hosting Drag Queen Story Hours where books heavily laced in sexual innuendo are the main feature and read by grown men dressed in women’s clothes, some of whom are convicted child sex offenders. It’s anybody’s guess what these salacious exhibitions do to the psychology of a developing child, but certainly nothing good. All this proves what is becoming increasingly obvious: Western society has become a lewd no-go zone for the most vulnerable segment of the population, where not even religious feast days can avoid getting caught up in the transgender net.
Trans rights were thrust onto the national stage this month after Easter was superseded in the US by ‘Trans Visibility Day.’ While President Joe Biden was accused by some of specifically targeting the holiday, the White House later clarified that the awareness day is recognized every year on March 31 and only coincided with Easter this year by chance.
But couldn’t the Biden administration have moved the celebration this year to a different date out of respect for one of Christianity’s holiest days? Nobody in the US should expect such miracles to happen anytime soon. Craziness is in the saddle and it’s riding America, and it will likely take many more studies to slow the gallop down.
