Ukraine is preparing a “comprehensive plan” for ending the conflict with Russia that should be ready by the end of the year, Vladimir Zelensky has said.

Zelensky made the comments at a press conference in Kiev, after meeting Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar on Friday.

“We will also work out all other points of the Peace Formula and prepare a comprehensive plan that will be on the table before our partners,” Zelensky said. “It is very important for us to show a plan to end the war that will be supported by the majority of the world. This is the diplomatic path we are working on.”

The so-called peace formula is a ten-point document Zelensky unveiled in November 2022, which envisions Russia ceding all formerly Ukrainian territory, withdrawing all of its troops, paying reparations and submitting to war crimes tribunals, among other things. Moscow has dismissed it as unrealistic and “detached from reality”.

Ukraine “must be strong on the battlefield,” Zelensky added, because Russia only respects strength.

“These are two parallel things – to be strong on the battlefield and to develop a plan, a clear plan, a detailed plan. And it will be ready this year,” he told reporters.

Zelensky’s comment came after he signed a long-term security pact with the EU on Thursday, obligating the bloc to years of military and financial aid. The US and several of its allies have signed separate aid pacts with Kiev, also pledging to prop up Kiev “for the long haul.” Western diplomats have openly said that the purpose of such treaties was to protect the Ukraine policy in case Donald Trump wins the November US presidential election.

Speaking in Brussels, Zelensky had argued that Ukraine “does not want to prolong the war” and does not want the conflict to last “for years.” 

“We have many wounded and killed on the battlefield. We must put a settlement plan on the table within a few months,” he said, without offering details.

Kiev has been coy about Ukrainian casualty figures, insisting instead that it has inflicted massive losses on Russian forces. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukraine lost 35,000 troops in May alone and has lost close to 500,000 since the start of the conflict.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The armed forces of Ukraine lost up to 4,410 soldiers in clashes with Russia’s Battlegroup Yug in the past week, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Friday.
"The AFU [the armed forces of Ukraine] losses were up to 4,410 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, eight armoured fighting vehicles, 48 motor vehicles, and 39 field artillery guns, including 11 US-made M777 and M198 howitzers [in battles with Battlegroup Yug]," the MoD said in a statement.
Battlegroup Tsentr repelled 39 counterattacks and Ukraine lost up to 2,950 soldiers, while in battles with Battlegrop Vostok, Ukraine has lost up to 930 servicemen, the ministry said.

Russia's Battlegrop Zapad repelled six counterattacks and Kiev lost up to 3,230 soldiers, while Ukraine lost up to 1,560 servicemen in clashes with Battlegroup Sever, the MoD noted.
"From 22 June to 28 June 2024, the Russian Armed Forces carried out 17 group strikes with high-precision weapons and attack unmanned aerial vehicles. [The strikes targeted] Enemy energy facilities, infrastructure of military airfields, logistics centres for storing weapons delivered by Western countries to the AFU, as well as assembly and storage facilities for attack unmanned aerial vehicles and uncrewed boats," the ministry said.
Additionally, the Russian armed forces have taken control of the village of Rozdolovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

Over the past day, Russian Aerospace Forces and artillery targeted a train unloading military equipment for the 117th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Sunday.
The Russian military has liberated Spornoye and Novoalexandrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday.
"Units of the Yug Battlegroup have liberated the settlement of Spornoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) as a result of active operations. [...] Units of the Tsentr Battlegroup have liberated the settlement of Novoalexandrovka following successful actions," the statement said.
Furthermore, Russia's operational-tactical aviation, drones, missile troops, and artillery hit a railway train unloading weapons. "Military equipment, and personnel of the 117th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as concentrations of enemy troops and military equipment in 127 areas [were hit]," the ministry added.

 

Tsentr Battlegroup
The Tsentr (Center) Battlegroup improved its tactical position and inflicted losses on the formations of the 23rd and 47th Mechanized Brigades, the 95th Air Assault Brigade, the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the 2nd National Guard Brigade in the areas of Toretsk, Kirovo, Mikhaylovka, Novgorodskoe, Volch'ye, Shevchenko, Sokol, and Vishnevoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.
Over the day, five counterattacks by assault groups of the 24th, 31st, 41st Mechanized, and 68th Jaeger Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled, according to the military department summary.
The enemy's losses included up to 370 soldiers, eight vehicles, a 155-mm M777 howitzer made in the US, a 152-mm 2A65 Msta-B howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, two 100 mm MT-12 Rapira anti-tank guns, and a US-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar station, as noted by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Yug Battlegroup
According to the ministry, the units of the Yug (South) Battlegroup improved their position on the front line and also inflicted damage on the troops and equipment of the 24th, 28th, 30th, 93rd Mechanized, 56th Motorized Infantry, 46th Airborne, 79th Assault, and 144th Infantry Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Vasyukovka, Kalinina, Chasov Yar, Kurdyumovka, Yelizavetovka, Katerinovka, and Kurakhovoye of the DPR.
"The attack of the assault group of the 214th battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was repelled. The enemy lost up to 450 military personnel, two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, and four cars," the ministry's report states.
According to the ministry, during the counter-battery fight, two 155-mm howitzers M198 manufactured in the US, four 152-mm guns D-20, a 122-mm self-propelled artillery unit 2S1 Gvozdika, and four 105-mm guns L-119 manufactured in the UK were destroyed.
"Also destroyed were a Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery ammunition depot and two Enclave-N electronic warfare stations," the Ministry of Defense reported.

 

Sever Battlegroup
The Sever (North) Battlegroup inflicted losses on the personnel and equipment of the 41st Mechanized, 57th Motorized Infantry, 71st Infantry Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 34th Marine Brigade, 125th, 127th Territorial Defense Brigades, and the 13th National Guard Brigade in the areas of Neskuchnoye, Staritsa, Vesyoloe, Ternovaya, Zhovtnevoye, Volchansk, and Liptsy in the Kharkov region, according to the ministry's statement.
Russian military personnel managed to destroy an ammunition depot of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as enemy military equipment, the department noted.
"The enemy's losses amounted to up to 285 troops, a tank, five vehicles, a 155 mm M109 Paladin howitzer made in the US, two 155 mm M777 howitzers made in the US, a 152 mm D-20 gun, a 100 mm MT-12 Rapira anti-tank gun, and a BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher," the ministry added.


Vostok Battlegroup
The Vostok (East) Battlegroup seized more advantageous positions and inflicted losses on the personnel and equipment of the 115th, 123rd, and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades in the areas of Rovnopol, Vremevka, Novoukrainka, and Velikaya Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic. The counterattack by the assault group of the 123rd Territorial Defense Brigade was repelled. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 130 soldiers, according to the report.
Additionally, over the course of the day, Ukrainian forces lost two armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles, a 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, a 155-mm M198 howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, as well as two field ammunition depots and a military-technical property depot in this section of the front.

 

Zapad Battlegroup
The Zapad (West) Battlegroup has captured more advantageous positions and inflicted losses on the 14th and 43rd Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the 1st Brigade of the National Guard, and the 12th Azov Special Purpose Brigade (a neo-nazi battalion banned in Russia) in the areas of Sinkovka and Petropavlovka in the Kharkov region, Grigorovka and Serebryanka in the Donetsk People's Republic, and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic. Two attacks by assault groups from the 110th Territorial Defense Brigade were repelled, as reported by the ministry.
According to the department, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 515 soldiers, two armored combat vehicles, and four vehicles over the day. During the counter-battery fire, a 155-mm AS-90 Braveheart self-propelled artillery unit from the UK, two 155-mm M777 howitzers from the USA, a 122-mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, a 152-mm 2A65 Msta-B howitzer, and a BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher system were hit.
Additionally, two field ammunition depots and two electronic warfare stations, Bukovel-AD and Enclave-N, were destroyed, as stated by the Ministry of Defense.

 

Dnepr Battlegroup
Russian units of the Dnepr Battlegroup reported destroying up to 105 Ukrainian combatants, two US-made 155 mm M777 howitzers, a 122 mm D-30 howitzer, and a 105 mm M119 artillery piece from the US, an Enclave-AD electronic warfare station, and three field ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Dnepr group inflicted losses on the troops and equipment of the 35th Marine Brigade, the 121st Territorial Defense Brigade, and the 22nd National Guard Brigade in the areas of Ilyinka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Zolotaya Balka, Olhovka, and Tyaginka in the Kherson region.
The reported enemy losses included up to 105 soldiers, eight vehicles, two US-made 155 mm M777 howitzers, a 122 mm D-30 howitzer, and a 105 mm M119 artillery piece from the US. Also destroyed were an Enclave-AD electronic warfare station and three field ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as stated in the message from the Russian military department.
