Last week the world narrowly escaped likely nuclear destruction, as the Biden Administration considered Ukraine’s request to allow US missiles to strike deeply into Russian territory. Russian president Vladimir Putin warned, as the request was being considered, that because these missiles could not be launched without the active participation of the US military and NATO, Russia would consider itself in a state of war with both NATO and the US should they be launched. It was a Cuban Missile Crisis on a massive scale.

 

Washington’s Ukraine Obsession is Going to Get Us All Killed!

Thankfully, permission was reportedly not granted by Washington to hit deep inside Russia, but as we have seen throughout this war, a weapons system is often first denied and then eventually granted to Washington’s proxies in Kiev. We should not rest easy even if nuclear war has been temporarily averted.

Would missile strikes deep inside Russia win the war for Ukraine? Not even the Pentagon thinks so. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin himself said earlier this month that granting Ukraine permission to launch missiles into Russia would not be a “game-changer” in the two and a half year war.

Risking nuclear destruction for no tangible purpose? Have these people gone insane?

Even the “game-changers” have changed little in this war. How many times has the pro-war mainstream media told us a weapons system would be a “game-changer” for Ukraine? Remember Javelin missiles? Leopard tanks? HIMARS? And as each one of them fails to turn the tide in Ukraine’s favor, the neocons and their friends in the media only demand more.

The fact is that Russia is winning the war despite hundreds of billions of dollars and the best weapons systems from the US and NATO countries. Each new shipment of increasingly sophisticated weapons does not produce battlefield victories for Ukraine. It only produces more dead Ukrainian soldiers and more profits for the weapons manufacturers.

Even the mainstream media – which has solidly supported the Ukraine war – has begun to report on Ukraine’s huge losses and hopeless situation. Yet as more and more start to wake up about the disastrous proxy war, Washington only knows one direction when it comes to war: forward. Just over a week ago the Pentagon announced another $250 million arms package for Ukraine. Nobody believes that is going to reverse the steady gains made by Russia on the battlefield, but it will generate more profits for the US arms manufacturers who are the real force behind our hyper-interventionist foreign policy.

The unlikely duo of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Donald Trump, Jr., said it best in a recent editorial in The Hill: “We cannot get any closer to the brink than this. And for what? To ‘weaken Russia’? To control Ukraine’s minerals? No vital American interest is at stake. To risk nuclear conflict for the sake of the neoconservative fantasy of global ‘full-spectrum dominance’ is madness.”

They are right, it is madness to risk the future of our country and our children and grandchildren for wars that have nothing to do with us and serve no national interest of the United States. This is certainly true for the Ukraine war, and it is also true for the wars the US is supporting in the Middle East. When will the madness end? When the people speak up and demand a change.

There is currently too little information about Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s so-called ‘victory plan’ for Russia to be able to properly evaluate it, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday.

Zelensky announced last week that he had concluded work on a proposal that could end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine by the end of this year if the West makes “quick decisions” on boosting its support for Kiev.

The Ukrainian leader is currently in the US, where he plans to present his initiative to President Joe Biden, to members of Congress, and to both 2024 election presidential contenders – Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

When asked by journalists on Monday about Zelensky’s proposals, Peskov said that the authorities in Moscow “believe that it is impossible to conduct any analysis based on media reports.”

“If some information appears from official sources, of course we will study it,” he said.

At the moment, Russia has a “very reserved” attitude towards the Ukrainian leader’s initiative because “there is a lot of different information, including contradictory information, unreliable information” about it, Peskov explained.

According to a report in the Sunday Times, Zelensky’s ‘victory plan’ has four key clauses, such as Western security guarantees for Ukraine similar to NATO’s principle of collective defense, the continuation of Kiev’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region to serve as a territorial bargaining chip, deliveries of “specific” advanced weapons by foreign backers, and international financial aid for Ukraine.

Earlier on Monday, Russia’s first deputy permanent representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, said that Moscow has no idea about the contents of Zelensky’s proposals and that it had not been invited to discuss them. “It is hard for us to understand what is on the madman’s mind,” he stressed.

Polyansky acknowledged that there is “a lot of hype” about the Ukrainian leader’s trip to the US and “about what he will or will not offer.”

During the visit, Zelensky is also scheduled to address the UN General Assembly annual meeting, which will take place in New York on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Sunday, Peskov was asked about the possible outcome of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, replying that “there is no alternative to our [Russian] victory.”

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine will end when Moscow fulfills all the objectives of the special military operation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists during a briefing on Tuesday.

Peskov was responding to a claim by Vladimir Zelensky that “we are closer to the peace than we think” between Moscow and Kiev. “We are closer to the end of the war. We just have to be very strong, very strong,” the Ukrainian leader told ABC News earlier in the day.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that “any war, one way or another, ends in peace.”

However, he insisted that, for Russia, “there is absolutely no alternative to achieving the goals that it has set out for itself” in the conflict.

“As soon as those objectives are met, one way or another, the military operation will be concluded,”Peskov said.

The latter comment appears to suggest that Moscow would accept either military and diplomatic solutions to the conflict, which has been underway since February 2022.

Zelensky told ABC that his so-called ‘victory plan’, which he is currently promoting in the US, “is not about negotiation with Russia.” The scheme is aimed at “the strengthening of Ukraine, Ukrainian army and Ukrainian people. Only in the strong position we can push [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to stop the war [in a] diplomatic way,” he explained.

The Ukrainian leader, who addressed the UN’s Summit of the Future in New York on Monday, is set to present his plan to US President Joe Biden, members of Congress, and both presidential contenders, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian armed forces have eliminated more than 16,700 Ukrainian servicemen and 127 tanks during military operations in the border areas of the Kursk Region, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Tuesday.

In total, during the military operations in the Kursk area, the Ukrainian armed forces have lost more than 16,700 servicemen, 127 tanks, 61 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 809 armored combat vehicles, 508 cars, the MoD said in a statement.

Over the past 24 hours, Kiev lost more than 360 soldiers in battles in the Kursk Region, the ministry added.
