easy: blame russia for your own shit....Russia's intelligence agency has been on a mission to generate "sustained mayhem on British and European streets", the head of MI5 has said. Giving his annual update on security threats faced by the UK, Ken McCallum said GRU agents had carried out "arson, sabotage and more dangerous actions conducted with increasing recklessness" in Britain after the UK backed Ukraine in its war with Russia. MI5 had also responded to 20 plots backed by Iran since 2022, he said, although he added the majority of its work still mostly involved Islamist extremism followed by extreme right-wing terrorism. The complex mix of terror-related threats and threats from nation states meant MI5 had "one hell of a job on its hands", he warned. In a wide-ranging speech, he said:
There was a "dizzying range of beliefs and ideologies" MI5 had to deal with, he told the briefing at MI5's counter-terrorism operations centre in London. "The first 20 years of my career here were crammed full of terrorist threats. "We now face those alongside state-backed assassination and sabotage plots, against the backdrop of a major European land war," he said. The UK's "leading role" in supporting Ukraine means "we loom large in the fevered imagination of Putin's regime" and further acts of aggression on UK soil should be expected, he warned. The UK's current terror threat level is substantial - meaning an attack is likely. More than 750 Russian diplomats had been expelled from Europe since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, "the great majority of them" spies, Mr McCallum said. This affected the Russian intelligence services' capability, he explained, and added that diplomatic visas had been denied to those who Britain and allies considered Russian spies. Russian state actors turned to proxies, such as private intelligence operatives and criminals, to do "their dirty work", but this affected the professionalism of their operations and made them easier to disrupt. While Mr McCallum has spoken publicly before about both the Russian and Iranian threats, he has not previously accused Moscow in such stark terms. In a previous public address he referred to 10 plots against Iranians in the UK. That number has now doubled, implying that Iranian state activity is undeterred by the threat of being caught. He said that since the 2022 killing of Mahsa Amini - the 22-year-old who died in Iranian police custody after being arrested for allegedly violating rules requiring women to wear the headscarf - "we’ve seen plot after plot here in the UK, at an unprecedented pace and scale". He added that, as the war in the Middle East continues, MI5 would give its "fullest attention to the risk of an increase in – or a broadening of – Iranian state aggression in the UK". In both cases, Russia and Iran, the MI5 boss stressed that because it was difficult - to almost impossible - for their accredited diplomats to carry out such actions, they were turning increasingly to underworld criminal gangs. Speaking about China, he said the economic relationship with the UK helped to underpin security. However, he later told reporters the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had a programme to steal data and information, and "we have seen 20,000 obfuscated approaches to individuals by China". 'Canny understanding of online culture'The number of young people being drawn into online extremism is growing, Mr McCallum warned. About 13% of those investigated for involvement in terrorism were under 18 - a threefold increase in the last three years. The security agency was seeing "far too many cases where very young people are being drawn into poisonous online extremism". "Extreme right-wing terrorism in particular skews heavily towards young people, driven by propaganda that shows a canny understanding of online culture," he said. Responding to questions from reporters, he reiterated concerns about the role of the internet being the "biggest factor" driving the trend, and described how easily youngsters could access material from their bedrooms. A high proportion of the threat was made up by “lone individuals indoctrinated online" he said. “In dark corners of the internet, talk is cheap. Sorting the real plotters from armchair extremists is an exacting task,” he said. “Anonymous online connections are often inconsequential, but a minority lead to deadly, real world actions.” Home Office figures published last month show that of 242 people detained on suspicion of terror offences in the year to June, 17% (40) were aged 17 and under. Sir Keir Starmer acknowledged the "sober findings" outlined by Mr McCallum but said the public should be "reassured that our security services are world class and will do everything necessary to keep us safe". https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp8e15yr1gwo

Aliens have visited Earth, and their aircraft, technology, even their bodies, have been retrieved by governments around the world. Those are the claims of former United States Department of Defence intelligence officer, David Grusch.
Grusch made the claims in June 2023, in interviews with investigative reporters Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, and later Ross Coulthart. His assertions were also supported by former Pentagon colleagues and fellow whistleblowers Christopher Mellon and Jonathan Grey*.
In July, Grusch subsequently repeated the claims under oath during the first Congress hearing into UFOs, offering to provide a list of people who have direct knowledge of a secret US Government crash retrieval program.
A team of bipartisan senators has now vowed to continue collecting testimony from other whistleblowers as a result. And those involved hope the investigation will shed light on the program, which has allegedly been operating in secret since the end of World War II.
So, will this finally bring an answer to the question: are we alone?

British support for Ukraine has made London a target of Moscow’s spies, the head of the British Security Service, Ken McCallum, has claimed.
In an annual speech on threats said to be facing the UK, McCallum listed Russia after terrorism, above Iran and China, while demanding more funding and warning about the dangers of the internet.
”The UK’s leading role in supporting Ukraine means we loom large in the fevered imagination of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s regime, and we should expect to see continued acts of aggression here at home,” McCallum said on Tuesday.
“The GRU in particular is on a sustained mission to generate mayhem on British and European streets: we’ve seen arson, sabotage and more,” he added, using the acronym for Russian military intelligence.
According to McCallum, this “concerted campaign” requires “a strong and sustained response,” including the use of the new National Security Act “to its fullest extent.”
McCallum was the key force lobbying for the 2023 law, which granted Britain’s security and intelligence agencies wide-ranging new powers to battle alleged “malign activity undertaken by foreign actors” such as espionage, sabotage, or attempts to meddle in UK politics.
Britain’s Security Service is unofficially known as MI5, while the external Secret Intelligence Service is MI6. Both are descended from the Secret Service Bureau, founded in 1909.
On Tuesday, McCallum reiterated the claim that the UK is under threat by “autocratic regimes” who target “our democracy, journalists and defenders of human rights,” as well as sensitive government information.
According to the MI5 head, the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats beginning in 2022 was unprecedented and “put a big dent in the Russian intelligence services’ ability to cause damage in the West,” but Moscow allegedly responded by recruiting proxies online.
McCallum used the speech to once again call for the “ability to track the online activity of those who mean us harm,” calling it “utterly crucial.”
“Privacy and exceptional lawful access can coexist if absolutist positions are avoided,” McCallum stated, adding that the alternative is “allowing child abusers and terrorists to operate at scale, without fear of consequences.”
Earlier this year, former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace claimed that Russia was responsible for “disinformation campaigns, the enemies in this country using cyber to divide us, to rob from us, to spy on us, and to create frictions in our society.” His comments came after British police broke up an online scamming ring targeting the elderly that had no connection to Russia.

Putin addresses MI5 ‘nonsense’
The EU and UK’s own policies are to blame for any civil unrest, the Russian president has argued...
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed British intelligence claims that Moscow aims to create chaos across the UK and EU as complete “nonsense.”
Earlier this month, Ken McCallum, head of the UK's MI5 intelligence agency, alleged that Russia was on a mission to create “sustained mayhem on British and European streets.” A BBC journalist asked the Russian leader to address the accusation on Thursday at a news conference following the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan.
“This is utter nonsense,” Putin stated. “What is happening on the streets of some European cities is the result of those countries’ internal policies.”
READ MORE: MI5 blames Russia for ‘mayhem on the streets’“The European economy is teetering on the brink of recession, and the leading economies of the eurozone are actually in recession,” the Russian president said, emphasizing that none of this is Moscow’s fault.
This causes a corresponding reaction because people’s living standards are falling.
Putin argued that these issues stem from the West’s decision to reject Russian energy resources.
“Western countries, European countries, have given up on our energy resources,” he said, noting that one pipeline of Nord Stream 2 remains intact, and Germany’s decision to keep it deactivated is “political.” He added that the US has “created the conditions for a whole sector of the German economy to move to the United States.”
Additionally, Putin pointed out that some countries have been affected by the misuse of “green” policies, shutting down anything related to nuclear power or hydrocarbon fuels. “Many in Europe and elsewhere, including the US, have abused and continue to abuse the environmental agenda and global warming discussions,” he said.
During talks with Milorad Dodik, the leader of Republika Srpska, later that day, Putin further suggested that the British accusations are mere self-projection and part of the West’s efforts to evade accountability for its own mistakes.
“We do not have such tools… This is all to push their own agenda and evade responsibility for the fundamental mistakes the West has made in its dealings with other countries, all in pursuit of domination at any cost,” the Russian leader stated.
“We are not fighting with anyone; we don’t want any confrontation. We are simply going our own way, creating new mechanisms of cooperation based on equality and mutual respect,” he declared at the BRICS summit, a group that currently represents more than 45% of the world’s population and has surpassed the US-led G7 bloc in its share of global GDP.

A TRUNCATED ANSWER BY PRESIDENT PUTIN IS AVAILABLE ON THE BBC... IT IS CUT TO MAKE ROSENBERG APPEAR WITH THICK ANKLES:
Watch: Putin challenged over Ukraine war by BBC's Steve RosenbergThe BBC's Russia Editor asked Vladimir Putin about "justice and security" in light of the Ukraine war.
In response to Steve Rosenberg's question, Putin said the Nato expansion "violates" Russian security. "There is no justice here and we want to change this situation", he added.
Rosenberg also asked the Russian president about recent MI5 intelligence reports which said Russia's intelligence agency has been on a mission to generate "sustained mayhem on British and European streets".
"It's utter rubbish", Putin replied.
PUTIN SAID A LOT MORE, DID HE NOT?.....
