la France again and again with hair-brain vain pain in the arse.......

The West should seriously consider placing “conventional deterrence”assets, which could include long-range missile sytems, on Ukrainian soil once the hot phase of the conflict is over, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu has said.

In an interview with the broadcaster TF1/LCI on Monday, Lecornu weighed in on Vladimir Zelensky’s much-touted “victory plan,” which the Ukrainian leader presented to the national parliament last week.

The plan calls for, among other things, an invitation to immediately join NATO, and the lifting of Western restrictions on the use of foreign-made long-range weapons for strikes against Russia. Zelensky also proposed that the West “deploy a comprehensive non-nuclear strategic deterrence package” on Ukrainian soil to keep Russia at bay.

He later explained that this package should “either force Russia to participate in real peace negotiations or allow for the destruction of their military targets,” adding that it should include missile systems.

Lecornu praised Zelensky’s plan as “the beginning of a political path in which we must assume to help Ukraine in the long term, and especially to ask the question what would happen next.” The minister noted that if Kiev concludes a ceasefire with Moscow, this “raises the question of conventional deterrence” which he said will “discourage a new Russian aggression.” This “is an issue that needs to be addressed now,” he added.

The minister stressed that he believes that “one day Ukraine will talk again to Russia,” recalling that the Zelensky plan assumes that Ukraine will retake all of its territories lost to Russia.” “The difficulty of the current moment is that we must assume the balance of forces,” Lecornu pointed out.

While French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has signaled that Paris is ready to back Zelensky’s plan, several NATO nations have been less enthusiastic. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has refused to give Kiev long-range missiles or support its quick accession to NATO, while Hungarian officials have warned that such an approach could result in a major escalation. Earlier media reports also indicated that many Western backers were skeptical of the roadmap, seeing it as nothing more than a “wish list.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has dismissed Zelensky’s plan as a “set of incoherent slogans” and “bloody foam on the lips of a neo-Nazi killer,” adding that Kiev was “pushing NATO members towards a direct conflict” with Russia.

Russian Forces Decimate Ukrainian Military Airfields and Drone Production Sites

Russian forces successfully hammered the infrastructure of military airfields, production facilities, and storage sites for strike drones, as well as a temporary deployment point for foreign mercenaries. They also struck concentrations of personnel and military equipment across 127 locations.
Russian forces have struck Ukrainian energy facilities that supported the operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), the Ministry of Defense reported.
"Operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile troops, and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces have targeted Ukrainian energy facilities that supported the actions of the UAF [Ukrainian Armed Forces]," the report stated.
Furthermore, air defense systems shot down three US-made HIMARS rockets and 52 drones.
In response to Ukrainian attacks on civilian targets, Russian forces regularly carry out precision strikes on personnel, equipment, and mercenary locations, as well as infrastructure, including energy facilities, defense industry sites, military command, and communication infrastructure in Ukraine.
That said, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly emphasized that the Russian military does not target residential buildings or social institutions.

a prank....

FROM LARRY JOHNSON

Remember those two pieces of US intelligence that appeared on the Middle East Spectator and set off alarm bells in Washington about a security breach? Yeah, forget about that. Move along. Nothing to see here. I checked the websites of the NY Times, the Washington Post and Politico this evening and was surprised to see the story has disappeared. No longer worthy of coverage, I guess.

I also noticed that the wars in Ukraine and Palestine have disappeared — or almost vanished — from the front pages of the three sites. However, there is one story that is still being touted — the propaganda that North Korea deployed its troops to Ukraine to fight alongside the Russians.

Sometime on Monday, the Russians decided to do some major trolling on the North Korean meme and scored a big hit:

Russian Armed Forces soldiers decided to play a prank by raising the North Korean flag in the Pokrovsk direction. The result exceeded all expectations: it stirred not only hundreds of smaller channels but also the Bandera mouthpiece, UNIAN (https://t.me/uniannet/148624).

The situation escalated so much that the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Kovalenko, had to respond quickly, urging people not to fall for “Russian psychological operations.”

Hilarious. The Western propagandists failed to take into account that Russia has a fair number of North-Korean-looking people who live in the far eastern portion of Russia. Putting Russian military uniforms on those boys could be interpreted — wrongly, of course — as kitting up North Koreans.

Meanwhile, along the front, the Russians continue their advance:

  • The Russian army controls a town in #Kursk
  • The Russian army advances in the city of #Toretsk
  • The Russian army advances in the north of #Selidovo towards #Pokrovsk
  • The Russian army expands its control inside #Gornyak towards #Kurakhovo
  • The Russian army expands its control inside #Kurakhovo

Ukrainian casualties in Kursk reportedly exceed 23,000 KIA, which represents at least a 67% loss of the force that invaded in August. NATO has started working its way through Kubler-Ross’ five stages of grief— denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I think we have passed the denial milestone and are now in the anger stage. Next stop, bargaining. Only one little problem — I don’t think the Russians are in any mood to negotiate a bargain other than Ukraine’s capitulation.

I talked a little about Ukraine with Judge Napolitano and Nima today. But most of the two conversations centered on Israel and the Palestinians.
