This ain’t a click bait title. It is a legitimate question. I discussed it with George Galloway, Thursday morning my time, before we learned of Russia’s missile strike on the massive Yuzhmash defense plant in Dnipropetrovsk. Since then, there has been some troubling warning indicators.

Consider the following:

The United States opened a new military base in Poland two weeks ago — one step closer to Russia.

Vice Admiral Buchanan announced this week that the United States is prepared to fight and win a nuclear war with Russia.

United States has put its strategic nuclear submarines on high alert in response to Russia’s new nuclear doctrine.

Russia released photos of mobile nuclear shelters being deployed throughout Russia.

Russia unveiled a new hypersonic intermediate-range missile with new kinetic-energy multiple warheads that can defeat any Western air defense-system.

Russia’s new Hazel (Oreshnik) missile will reach London in 16-17 minutes, Berlin in 11-12, and Paris in 15-16.

Russia’s Ambassador to the UK, during a TV interview, told the reporter: The UK is now directly involved in the Ukraine conflict because this firing [of the Storm Shadow missiles at Russia] cannot happen without NATO and British staff.

Employees of the American, British, French and German embassies have left Ukraine. Most are in Poland, some have gone home. Chinese diplomats and representatives from Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries also left Ukraine.

A raft of retired US Generals have been making the rounds on US cable channels insisting that Putin is just bluffing and there is no way he would use a nuke. These are the same people who promised quick victories in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have zero credibility and should be locked away in an asylum and treated for delusional psychosis.

Putin does not want a nuclear war. He is not saber-rattling as part of some information operation. He was dead serious on Thursday when he warned the West that any further attacks on Russian territory with Western supplied missiles would elicit a deadly and immediate response by Russia. Putin vowed that Russia would hit military targets and would give enough warning so that civilians could evacuate the target.
