after the phone call.....“Trump appears to have a better understanding of the causes and conditions of the Ukraine-Russia and US/NATO versus Russia conflict,” retired US Air Force Lt. Col and ex-DoD analyst Karen Kwiatkowski told Sputnik, commenting on Wednesday’s lengthy telephone conversation between the Russian and US leaders and its focus on Ukraine. “His tendency to be practical (something we are not seeing in his Israel-Gaza policy) is apparent here. The signal is one of deal making and practicality,” Kwiatkowski said. The call comes at a decisive moment, the observer stressed, pointing out that Congress will be teeing up a new package of aid to Ukraine shortly, with current commitments to run dry in March, as Trump, Elon Musk and the DOGE sniff out “the fraud and corruption of the Biden Ukraine project.” “I suspect this cannot be kept under the lid much longer, so this may explain the urgency of a settlement,” Kwiatkowski said. “Whether Trump gets a settlement he likes from Russia” or not “is not clear, but I think Trump realizes Russia has already won, and Europe/NATO, in agitating for a long costly wasteful war, needs to start dealing with what it has wrought,” the analyst said. Earlier in the day Wednesday, President Trump took to Truth Social to announce that he had a "lengthy and highly productive" phone call with President Putin, and that the leaders had discussed an array of issues, focusing on Ukraine. "We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together. But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine," Trump said. "We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately," Trump said, adding that his first step would be to call Volodymyr Zelensky. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed important details on the call, including Putin and Trump's expression of mutual commitment to a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis. Putin reiterated the importance of addressing the "root causes" of the conflict, Peskov said, and invited Trump to visit Moscow. The conversation was said to have lasted for one and a half hours.

IT SHOULD BE WELL-KNOWN THAT UNDER THE COMMUNIST REGIME OF THE USSR, STALIN (GEORGIAN) ADDED RUSSIAN TERRITORY (THE DONBASS) TO YUCKRAINE TO PREVENT THE KIEV GALICIANS (FASCIST NATIONALISTS) FROM BECOMING "INDEPENDENT". IT IS WELL KNOW THAT KHRUSHCHEV GAVE RUSSIAN-CRIMEA AWAY TO YUCKRAINE FOR THE SAME REASON, ADDING THAT "YUCKRAINE HAD BEEN A GOOD COMMUNIST". AS FAR AS RUSSIA IS CONCERNED, THESE "GIFTS" ARE NULL AND VOID, DUE TO THE NAZIFICATION OF KIEV REGIME AND THAT THE CRIMEA DEAL WAS NEVER APPROVED BY THE DOUMA. AS WELL, UNDER WESTERN INFLUENCE, ZELENSKY TOOK OVER THE YUCKRAINIAN PRESIDENCY BY LYING TO THE PEOPLE, AND STARTED A RUTHLESS DE-RUSSIFICATION OF YUCKRAINE, INCLUDING CONTINUING THE BOMBING OF THE DONBASS REGION... RUSSIA HAS FOUND IT NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE IN THESE REGIONS. HENCE THE LIMITED MILITARY OPERATION... WHICH THE WEST IS TRYING TO BLOW UP TO A FULL WW3...

tulsi through....
Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, has been confirmed by the US Senate as director of national intelligence, following scrutiny on Capitol Hill over her past positions.
On Wednesday, the Senate approved her nomination in a 52-48 vote, with only one Republican, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, opposing her confirmation.
Gabbard, a former presidential candidate and Iraq War veteran, has been a fierce critic of the US intelligence community she is now set to lead.
In a sharp rebuke following the vote, McConnell claimed Gabbard is unfit for the “critical position” and has a troubling record of poor judgment.
“The Senate’s role in advice and consent is not a formality, but a duty—one we must take seriously...”McConnell stated.
Gabbard left the Democratic Party in 2022 and has maintained an independent status for two years.
US President Donald Trump picked her for the top intelligence role in mid-November, provoking anger among establishment leaders who labeled her a significant security risk. In 2022, Gabbard contended that the Ukraine conflict might have been prevented if the US “had simply acknowledged Russia’s legitimate security concerns” linked to Kiev’s ambitions to join NATO.
In October, she revealed her decision to join the Republican Party during a rally supporting Trump’s presidential campaign. She has faced intense scrutiny over her past positions, including her support for whistleblower Edward Snowden and a 2017 meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad.
During her confirmation hearing last week, Gabbard declined to call Snowden a traitor, instead stating that he had “broken the law.”
Despite initial concerns about her lack of intelligence experience, Republicans ultimately unified behind Gabbard, confirming the 43-year-old former Democrat to the role.
As Director of National Intelligence, she will oversee 18 intelligence agencies, including the CIA and FBI, which together employ over 70,000 personnel responsible for handling US intelligence operations.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have spoken on the phone and agreed negotiations to end the war in Ukraine should begin "immediately", according to the US president.
In a 90-minute phone call between the two leaders, the Russian president invited Mr Trump to Moscow for negotiations on a ceasefire deal in the three-year conflict.
Both the White House and Kremlin confirmed the call, making it the first known direct conversation between Mr Putin and a sitting US President in two years.
In a post on Truth Social, Mr Trump said he and Mr Putin had "agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately", and that he would call Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“As we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine,” Mr Trump posted. “President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, ‘COMMON SENSE.’ We both believe very strongly in it. We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s nations.”
Speaking at a press conference in the White House later on Wednesday afternoon, local time, Mr Trump said there would likely be three in-person meetings between himself and Mr Putin, starting with one in Saudi Arabia in the "not too distant future".
"We expect that he'll come here and I'll go there and probably the first time, we'll meet in Saudi Arabia, to see if we can get something done," he said.
"We want to end that war, that war is a disaster."
He also said that it was "not practical" for Ukraine to be given NATO membership and that US aid to Ukraine would not be stopped for the time being.
Russian state news agency TASS also reported Mr Putin invited Mr Trump to Russia.
After his call with the Russian leader, Mr Trump spoke to the Ukrainian president.
Mr Zelenskyy, who had hosted US Treasury officials to discuss a deal on rare earth minerals with the Trump administration, said he and the US president had a "meaningful conversation".
"No-one wants peace more than Ukraine," he said. "Together with the US, we are charting our next steps to stop Russian aggression and ensure a lasting, reliable peace.
"As President Trump said, let’s get it done. We agreed to maintain further contact and plan upcoming meetings."
After speaking to the Ukrainian leader, Mr Trump said: "The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Mr Trump and the Russian president discussed the Middle East, bilateral relations, Ukraine and a prisoner exchange between Washington and Moscow, Russian state news agency TASS reported.
"The Russian president invited the US president to visit Moscow and expressed his readiness to receive American officials in Russia in those areas of mutual interest, including, of course, the topic of the Ukrainian settlement," Mr Peskov said.
Mr Trump said negotiations over Ukraine were a top priority.
"We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now," he said.
The international focus will now turn to the shape of a possible deal between Moscow and Ukraine.
It's been almost three years since Russia invaded Ukraine, and the previous US president, Joe Biden, had consistently maintained arming Kyiv, rather than negotiating with Moscow, was what his country would do.
Mr Zelenskyy had proposed exchanging occupied Ukrainian land for parts of the Kursk region, but the Kremlin has angrily dismissed the suggestion.
Pre-2014 Ukraine border 'unrealistic'It came as US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth unveiled a significant shift in US policy on the war, telling US allies in Brussels that Ukraine returning to its pre-2014 borders, when Russia did not control Crimea, was an "unrealistic" prospect.
The Pentagon chief also said US troops would not be sent to keep the peace as he believed Europe should be responsible for Ukraine's security.
He also flatly ruled out Ukraine being granted membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Ogranisation (NATO).
Mr Hegseth said any peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine must include "robust security guarantees to ensure that the war will not begin again".
"We want, like you, a sovereign and prosperous Ukraine," he added.
"But we must start by recognising that returning to Ukraine's pre-2014 borders is an unrealistic objective.
"Chasing this illusionary goal will only prolong the war and cause more suffering."Mr Hegseth also told Washington's NATO allies that they would have to step up and assume greater responsibility for Europe's security.
He said "stark strategic realities", such US border security issues and threats posed by China, prevented the US from being "primarily focused on the security of Europe".
Russia annexed the Crimea from Ukraine in March 2014 and then backed pro-Russian separatists in an armed insurgency against Kyiv's forces in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine.
Russia currently controls about 20 per cent of Ukraine's territory, mainly in the east and south, while Ukraine holds a small parcel of Russian land.
