the biggest presidential scandal of them all.....A key Trump administration official has claimed that left-wing Sen. Elizabeth Warren called the shots on the Biden administration’s restrictive approach to cryptocurrencies. White House artificial intelligence and crypto czar David Sacks argued Tuesday night that Warren (D-Mass.) has a “pathological hatred” for crypto and pushed the Biden administration to suppress the nascent technology. “This is the financial system of the future, Jesse and we have to encourage it,” Sacks told Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.” “What the Biden administration was doing, and let’s face it — it wasn’t Biden — Elizabeth Warren controlled the autopen during that administration,” Sacks added “She, for some reason, has this pathological hatred for the crypto community. She wants to drive this community offshore. She doesn’t want it happening in the United States. That’s the wrong policy.” Sacks later clarified to The Post that his comments were specific to crypto policy and pointed to Warren’s close ties to former Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler, another critic of decentralized currency. “Just to be clear, I was talking about the issue of crypto,” Sacks emphasized. “It won’t come as a surprise to anyone in the crypto community that Elizabeth Warren was calling the shots on crypto policy during the Biden administration.” President Trump and his allies have repeatedly suggested that aides to former President Joe Biden used an autopen, a device to recreate his signature, on key documents such as executive orders to mask the commander in chief’s cognitive decline. Trump has mused that some of Biden’s pardons and executive actions should be voided if an autopen was used on them. Last week, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) demanded testimony from former White House doctor Kevin O’Connor and four Biden aides to examine the use of autopen during the last administration. Other presidents, such as Barack Obama, used autopen during their White House days, with Harry Truman widely believed to be the first president to use the modern machine. Warren is among the foremost progressive voices on finance and has long been a crusader for aggressive market regulations. “I believe that Democrats understand the importance of consumer protections and anti-money laundering curbs in any new financial product,” Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, told reporters earlier this year. “All we’re looking for is a level playing field between crypto and all of the other financial systems.” Crypto is currently subject to fewer regulations than other financial assets, such as stocks and bonds. Prominent finance gurus, such as JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, have been very skeptical of crypto, with Dimon warning lawmakers in September 2022 congressional testimony that the industry is rife with “decentralized Ponzi schemes.” Congress is currently mulling the GENIUS Act to set up regulatory guardrails for stablecoins, a type of crypto that is pegged to certain types of assets meant to limit volatility. Warren has long been a skeptic of that bipartisan legislation. Trump has fully embraced crypto, announcing a US strategic reserve earlier this year and launching a memecoin that has boosted his net worth. Last week, Trump convened a dinner at his Northern Virginia golf course for the top 220 holders of his memecoin, $TRUMP. Vice President JD Vance also spoke at a crypto event in Las Vegas on Wednesday and revealed that he owns Bitcoin. “Consumer confidence is hitting new highs and Bitcoin confidence is hitting new highs,” added Sacks, who attended the crypto event in Las Vegas. “This was a community that a year ago, was completely under siege. They were being prosecuted.” “They were being subjected to lawfare. They just wanted to know what the rules were. They said give us fair rules and we’ll abide by them. The Biden administration would never do that.”
====================== Stephen Colbert on Biden dropping out: ‘Courage, grace, humility, true patriotism’This article is more than 9 months old Late-night hosts discuss Joe Biden’s decision to end his presidential campaign, his record in office and Kamala Harris’s potential running mates Late-night hosts react to Joe Biden’s shock decision to exit the presidential race and presumptive nominee Kamala Harris’s options for a running mate. Stephen ColbertStephen Colbert reacted to the news that Joe Biden would suspend his presidential campaign to make way for a different Democratic candidate with gratitude. “This makes sense. It will give them time to rest up for 2028,” the Late Show host joked on Monday evening. “And I for one want to salute this good man for the selfless act of stepping aside from being the most powerful person in the world, for the greater good. “I believe that this act puts Joe Biden in the league with history’s most selfless leaders: the Roman general Cincinnatus, the father of our country, George Washington, and Kim Cattrall, who has stepped down as Samantha after Pelosi showed her the polls,” he added. https://www.theguardian.com/culture/article/2024/jul/23/stephen-colbert-biden-dropping-out-harris ========================= TALKING ABOUT POLLS AND RATINGS.... According to the most recent Nielsen data, Gutfeld’s show is the only late-night program averaging more than 3 million viewers. His broadcast and cable rivals, which include Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” on NBC and Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” on CBS,” usually never break 2 million viewers. What’s more, Gutfeld is attracting more Democrats and independents than the competition and is sitting at No. 1 in two surprising demographics for Fox News: adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. ======================== Lessons Erdogan and Bahçeli Should Learn from Joe BidenBY Adem Yavuz Arslan If you’re among those who say “what does this have to do with anything?” before even reading the article, then this piece is especially for you. Because the story—or perhaps the tragedy—of Joe Biden, the former president of the United States, is not just a matter of American politics or of politicians alone. Those in similar situations, particularly those concerned about their political legacies, have much to learn from his example. There are also serious implications for the media and bureaucracy. Although Donald Trump dominates the agenda with his statements and controversial actions, Joe Biden has returned to the headlines in the past week. The reason isn’t just the announcement that the former president has an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Two newly released books that reveal the behind-the-scenes cover-ups within the White House to conceal Biden’s mental and physical decline have completely shaken the public discourse. WAS THERE A COVER-UP? The announcement of Biden’s metastatic prostate cancer has reignited concerns and rumors about his health. Even those wishing Biden well and empathizing by recalling that his son also died of cancer are now asking: When did his health begin to deteriorate? Why and how was the truth concealed? The two newly released books are full of striking information on this matter. Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s new book “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” offers a wealth of content on Biden’s health deterioration and how it was hidden by his closest circle. The book was released just two days ago but has already become one of the most talked-about publications. The title says it all, but the content delves deep—covering denial, partisanship, political calculations, and how political mythology blinded decision-makers. EVERYONE SAW IT, EVERYONE STAYED SILENT The authors explain how, since 2023, the White House systematically concealed Biden’s mental decline. This effort was led by Joe, Jill, and Hunter Biden, along with close advisers Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti. The book provides concrete examples of how the Democratic Party, White House staff, and the campaign team chose to remain silent about Biden’s deteriorating health and even tried to legitimize it. The authors don’t provide a precise date for the onset of Biden’s cognitive decline but suggest it worsened during family turmoil. Some believe it began with the death of his eldest son, Beau Biden, in 2015. A senior White House official said, “Beau’s death destroyed him. A part of him died and never came back.”Legal troubles surrounding his son Hunter—especially the collapse of a 2023 deal involving tax and gun charges—were seen by advisers as a breaking point. The book lists numerous incidents showing Biden’s decline. In 2019, during a bus tour in Iowa, Biden couldn’t remember the name of his longtime adviser Mike Donilon. In March 2020, he forgot the words to the Declaration of Independence. In 2022, at the White House, he couldn’t recall the names of National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Communications Director Kate Bedingfield. In 2024, at a Hollywood fundraiser, he failed to recognize George Clooney. Tapper and Thompson detail how the White House tried to obscure Biden’s condition. THEY ISOLATED THE PRESIDENT Witnesses report that Biden’s speeches were simplified, his vocabulary reduced, and sentences shortened. His reliance on teleprompters and cue cards increased. A cabinet member who traveled with him in 2022 said to another, “This is impossible. He’s too old.”Biden started using the teleprompter even for 10-minute speeches, and no events were scheduled after 6 p.m. These examples show that Biden’s halting and confused performance during his June 27, 2024 debate with Trump wasn’t an anomaly. The authors emphasize: “This wasn’t a cold. This wasn’t poor preparation or over-preparation. This wasn’t just a tired man.” What else does the book reveal? Journalists who questioned Biden’s mental fitness faced heavy pressure from the White House. Although some Democrats believed he was unfit not only to run but to govern, they kept silent for fear that voicing such concerns would cost the party the election. Biden’s inner circle created a “politburo”-like environment, limiting access to the president to a handful of individuals. THEY TOLD BIDEN ONLY WHAT HE WANTED TO HEAR This part feels very familiar. Biden became detached from reality. He was told fabricated poll results and reassured of strong public support. His inner circle effectively created a parallel universe. So much so that they began making decisions on his behalf—thinking for him. Biden’s candidacy was never even discussed in party committees. His close team, including family members, made and announced the candidacy decision. When some party members expressed concerns, they were told, “So you want Trump to come back?” Doubters were almost accused of betrayal. Biden’s inner circle used fear as a weapon. They kept telling Biden he was still competitive and polling well; “NO ONE EVER LEAVES THAT SEAT WILLINGLY” The book “Fight” by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes focuses on why all this happened. According to them, Biden’s motivation to stay in the race was deeply personal. The saying, “no one ever leaves that seat willingly,” also applied to Biden. His wife Jill Biden played a significant role. According to the authors, “Her years as First Lady accustomed her to the power at the top of Washington.” So, the much-discussed “family influence” was far from negligible. When you read Original Sin alongside Allen and Parnes’ Fight, it’s hard not to come to a terrifying conclusion: A PARALLEL UNIVERSE? The saga of Joe Biden and the U.S. elections offers lessons for every politician, every political party, and even every civil society organization. Especially the fatal error made by party members, journalists, and bureaucrats who saw the problem—and the approaching disaster—but said nothing. The 200 sources interviewed by Tapper and Thompson, including lawmakers, campaign staff, and White House personnel, offered a sort of self-criticism. Some regret speaking out only after the election; others regret not speaking sooner. The implications for journalism are also grave. Many journalists who witnessed Biden’s decline did not pursue the issue. They trusted statements from Biden’s close team claiming his health was fine. One question from the New York Times, a Biden-supporting outlet, stood out to me: I think this is a question everyone should ask themselves. LESSONS FOR ERDOĞAN AND BAHÇELİ It’s no exaggeration to say that Joe Biden’s experience is highly relevant to Turkey. Because Turkey is currently led by two figures—Devlet Bahçeli and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—both of whom have serious health issues. Neither intends to step down willingly. Like Biden’s close circle, Erdoğan’s and Bahçeli’s inner circles isolate them. It’s unclear where, how, or by whom decisions are made. If a president’s politburo lies—and worse, doesn’t even realize it’s lying—then the situation is extremely dangerous. In short, both Erdoğan and Bahçeli have serious lessons to learn from the Biden story. Above all: knowing when to step down matters. https://politurco.com/lessons-erdogan-and-bahceli-should-learn-from-joe-biden.html YOURDEMOCRACY.NET RECORDS HISTORY AS IT SHOULD BE — NOT AS THE WESTERN MEDIA WRONGLY REPORTS IT.
