is marco rubio an imbecile or an idiot?.....
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday that there was an imminent threat from Iran. "There absolutely was an imminent threat, and the imminent threat was that we knew that if Iran was attacked [BY WHOM?], and we believed they would be attacked [BY WHOM?], that they would immediately come after us, and we were not going to sit there and absorb a blow before we responded," Rubio told reporters.
US embassies are under attack as a result of Iran's retaliatory actions against US and Israeli strikes, the secretary added. He said that the US focuses on destroying Iran's ballistic missile capabilities and responding to the alleged threat by Iran's navy to global shipping. "Our mission and our focus is the destruction of the ballistic missile capabilities and their ability to manufacture them as well as the threat posed by their navy to global shipping," Rubio told reporters. The United States would like to see regime change in Iran [IS RUBIO BELIEVING HIS OWN SHIT?], but that was not a goal of the attack, Rubio added. "We would love to see this regime be replaced. As the President [Donald Trump] has said, he would love for the people of Iran to use this as an opportunity to rise up and remove these leaders," Rubio told reporters. US political commentator and journalist Tucker Carlson on Monday said Saudi Arabia and Qatar caught and "arrested Israeli Mossad agents planning bombings in those countries".
"Why would the Israelis be committing bombings in Gulf countries, which are also being attacked by Iran?" Carlson asked on his show, adding, "Aren't they on the same side?"
"Israel wants to hurt Iran, and Qatar, and UAE, and Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, and Oman and Kuwait," he said.
Carlson, on his show, also said that Israel deliberately sows chaos among America's Arab allies.
In February, Israeli security officials detained Carlson and members of his team shortly after he interviewed Washington’s ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.
In the interview, Huckabee stated that Jews have a “divine right” to colonise Palestinian land and denied Palestinian national identity.
The interview followed a public spat between the pair online after Carlson slammed Israel’s "shocking" treatment of Christians and accused Huckabee of failing to ensure protections for Christians who face attacks from Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and in Jerusalem.
In 2025, after he visited Palestinians refugees from Gaza in Qatar and accused Israel of murdering children, a pro-Israel advocacy group in the US named Carlson as its “Antisemite of the Year”, citing his opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Ongoing US-Israeli attackCarlson's latest comments come amid ongoing US and Israeli strikes on Iran, after the countries began a joint attack that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, several other top officials and hundreds of civilians.
Around 150 girls were killed in a strike on a school in southern Iran on Saturday.
France, Germany and the UK said on Sunday that they stood ready to protect their interests and those of their Gulf allies and could take what they described as “defensive action” if required.
Iran has retaliated by hitting American bases in the region and shutting down trade routes for oil.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has targeted over 500 US and Israeli sites, using 700 drones and hundreds of missiles.
On Monday, an Iranian drone attack caused a "limited fire" at Saudi Arabia's Aramco oil refinery in Ras Tanura.
European gas prices soared almost 50 percent after Iranian strikes prompted Saudi Arabia to close its biggest oil refinery, and Qatar to halt the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Due to the tension, insurance providers have cancelled war-risk coverage for ships in the Persian Gulf.
Several senior military and political figures have been killed by Israel and the US since the two countries began striking Iran on Saturday morning. Donald Trump said 48 leaders had been killed.
Iranian authorities acknowledged several of the fatalities, including Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s defence council, and Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh.
US and Israeli bombing on Iran has continued, with President Donald Trump warning the "big wave" is yet to come.

Closure of the Strait of Hormuz sends shockwaves through markets, with Citi projecting Brent crude could surge to $80–$90 a barrel (bbl) this week.
"According to market reports, war risk underwriters [MARITIME INSURERS] began canceling policies for strait transits hours after Operation Epic Fury launched," Dr. Tilak K. Doshi, energy editor at The Daily Sceptic, tells Sputnik. "The Financial Times confirmed premiums surging 50%. Vessels linked to American or Israeli interests are becoming uninsurable entirely."
Overall impact for an extended shutdown:
Immediate/near-term spike: → 80–150%+ sending Brent from around $70–80 per barrel to $130–200, amplified by panic, hoarding, and risk premia → This matches qualitative analyst warnings of triple-digit oil and potential 1970s-style shocks
The immediate price impact will moderate over time, falling to 40–70% above baseline as efficiency gains, fuel switching, and non-Gulf supply response, according to the expert. In the short run, however, global consumption may falls by about 20 mb/d (the shortfall), with disproportionate pain in Asia, which takes estimated 84% of Hormuz oil flows.....
Broader effects:
Sharp global inflation surge: two-four percentage points
Recessionary GDP drag (oil shock multipliers typically −0.5 to −1% GDP per 10% price rise in short run), and severe hits to import-dependent economies
"A prolonged Hormuz closure would trigger a massive, multi-year oil price shock (doubling or more initially), rationing around 19% of global supply purely through demand destruction. This underscores the chokepoint’s strategic risk," Doshi says.
The expert presumed that markets "are now pricing in only a short disruption to the Strait of Hormuz, but much depends on how the war is prosecuted going forward."
"With the US midterm elections in sight, the Trump administration will want to ensure that global crude oil prices are brought back down as quickly as possible, so as to put a limit on US gasoline prices," Doshi stresses.
