did america actually gain control of venezuela’s oil?.....

What if a country could bomb another nation… kidnap its president… and claim its natural resources as its own?

On January 3rd, 2026, under the leadership of Donald Trump, the United States launched a shocking military operation over Caracas, Venezuela. 150 warplanes. A full blackout. And the capture of Venezuela’s sitting president Nicolás Maduro.

Trump claimed Venezuela had “stolen American oil.” But was that oil ever America’s to begin with?

This video breaks down the real history of Venezuela’s oil industry, from foreign contracts with companies like ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell to the 1976 nationalization under Carlos Andrés Pérez. We uncover the truth behind ownership, compensation, and the global energy struggle.

With over 303 billion barrels of oil—the largest reserves in the world—Venezuela sits at the center of a geopolitical battle involving the United States, China, and global energy markets.

But here’s where the story takes a twist.

Despite military force and bold declarations, major oil corporations refused to invest. Venezuela’s infrastructure remains broken. And leadership under Delcy Rodríguez continues to challenge U.S. demands—while maintaining control of the country.

So after all the bombs, threats, and promises…

Did America actually gain control of Venezuela’s oil?
Or did this operation reveal the limits of military power in global economics?

This is the story mainstream media isn’t fully telling.

Venezuela: Who are our friends, who are our enemies?

Options,” the official magazine of the General Union of Engineers, Managers, and Technicians of the CGT (UGICT-CGT)[FRANCE MAIN UNIONS], published an interview with Thomas Posado in which he launched a scathing attack against Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution initiated by Hugo Chavez, then Nicolás Maduro, and now Delcy Rodriguez.

This interview is, in fact, a blatant distortion of the true situation in Venezuela. Thomas Posado is deliberately lying! What are his motives, and why is the UGICT-CGT acting as his mouthpiece?

One could argue that the CGT is being manipulated by one of those TV “experts” whose collusion with the followers of the fanatical Maria Machado is obvious. Actually, no, let's be clear: from now on, the CGT is directly participating in the international campaign orchestrated by Washington against the continuation of the Bolivarian Revolution, in order to distort the perception that sincere activists might have of it when they lack all the facts.

It is worth noting that this is being done in "Options," the newspaper of the UGICT-CGT, whose general secretary three years ago was Sophie Binet. As I explained in an article, (2) S. Binet brought the CGT, lock, stock, and barrel, into the opposing camp internationally. That is to say, the camp of this class-collaborationist unionism, aligned with the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Euro-Atlanticism.

In this interview, it is significant that T. Posado never once mentions the name of the other union federation he speaks so highly of. This is the CTV. The CTV is a typical yellow union that, alongside FEDECAMERAS, the Venezuelan business elite, concretely and financially organized the 2002 coup against Chavez. The CTV is known for its corruption and its close relationship with the most reactionary sectors of the AFL CIO, from which it receives funding, as well as with the NED (National Endowment for Democracy), which, as everyone knows, is a CIA front. In 2002, the CTV received $135,000 to contribute to the coup against H. Chavez. The CTV is also an active member of the Democratic Alliance (AD), whose leader is Maria Machado, a staunch Trump supporter and Nobel laureate who wants to sell Venezuela to the United States.

After years of a bloody dictatorship for which the revolutionary labor movement in Venezuela paid a heavy price, the formation, building, and unity of the Bolivarian labor movement is now a reality that must be supported internationally, particularly its initiatives to form an anti-imperialist front within the anti-fascist workers' movement. This should be the task of the CGT (General Confederation of Labour), which has consistently proclaimed its commitment against the far right, ever since, as S. Binet argues, the priority has shifted from the fight against capitalism to action against the far-right International sponsored by D. Trump, V. Putin, and Xi Jinping.

Under the conditions of the inhumane blockade imposed by the US with the complicity of the European Union, the social consequences of the illegal sanctions against Venezuela, as well as against Cuba and Iran, are extremely costly. Yet, at the same time, the government of Nicolás Maduro and now that of Delcy Rodríguez have encouraged, particularly through the new municipal government, a different redistribution of wealth that has provided rapid, concrete, and material support to the people, which they defend.

T. Posado, of course, doesn't say a word about it. The objective is to sow doubt and destabilize. Because, in fact, this interview is an objective endorsement of the counter-revolution, which, incidentally, is nothing new. Since B. Thibault, the CGT's international department has consistently refused any solidarity with the Bolivarian labor movement, thus contributing to the systematic Western criticism of Chávez and then Maduro regarding human rights. Like father, like son.

With T. Posado, the string is as thin as a cable. It is equally significant that he says not a word about the vast popular movement that demonstrates daily across the country in support of the legitimacy of interim president Delcy Rodriguez, whose recent meeting with Colombian President Gustavo Petro is further proof that Bolivarian Venezuela has not abandoned its camp and remains committed to the revolutionary transformation of Venezuela with "government of the people, by the people, for the people."

This interview with T. Posado must be denounced within the CGT and elsewhere. It illustrates the collusion of the CGT leadership with the worst enemies of workers and breaks with the anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist identity that has defined the entire history of the CGT.

A few months before the 54th National Congress of the CGT, we must learn from the treachery of its leadership, which can only be detrimental to workers and the credibility of the labor movement. This is the responsibility of the CGT unions. It will be up to their Congress, particularly those among the most active who consider Venezuela, Cuba, Palestine, and Iran to be one and the same struggle against capitalism in its imperialist stage.
