Can a senator move to the House of Representatives and become Prime Minister?

A senator can become a member of the House of Representatives but only after they first resign from the Senate. They can then stand for election to the House of Representatives.

If they are elected to the House and become leader of the party or coalition of parties with the support of the majority of members in the House, they would become Prime Minister. By convention – tradition – the Prime Minister is always a member of the House of Representatives.

In 1968, following the death of Prime Minister Harold Holt, Senator John Gorton became the first and only senator to be appointed Prime Minister. After being sworn-in as Prime Minister, Mr Gorton resigned from the Senate and stood in and won the by-election for Mr Holt’s former seat in the House of Representatives.

Behind a lovely polished pamphlet, the AfBG claims to be a union of disaffected voters from all major parties… : GREEN VOTERS, LABOR VOTERS, LIBERAL VOTERS, “TEAL” VOTERS. Do I smell a derivative ONE Nation trying to get under your seat and start a warm fuzzy fire of doubt? In CIA parlance, this is a behind the scene side-flank addition to YOUR MAIN deceitful frontal assault. Say Pauline is visible and probably looking a bit like a sour rightwing trying to appear reasonable… This is why One Nation needs to add a bit more sweet sauce… which may or may not be “directly connected” to it. SOLUTION IS NOT to subsidise the destruction of our natural environment.

SOLUTION IS NOT to export cheap energy [the ABfG do not mention gas, but we KNOW they mean GAS] while destroying our local environment and driving the cost of living at home…

WELL, apart from catering for a deluded bunch of climate change sceptics, THE PITCH here seems to come from a consortium of oil and coal companies as one needs energy from somewhere, unless we go back to living in caves during the last Ice Age — because oil and gas [that ALSO DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT AND the ATMOSPHERE] are becoming more expensive than renewable energy.

Yes we know that “GREEN” energy isn’t 100 per cent green, but it is far GREENER THAN COAL, GAS AND OIL.

And whales do not fear OFFSHORE wind turbines either.

Nor do wind turbines kill more birds than cats [CATS IN AUSTRALIA KILL MORE BIRDS by a bigger factor than one million to one…]

So, as elections come along, it is always time to place the deceitful [or ignorant] ONE NATION and the AUSTRALIANS FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT in the trash bin of history. THEY BELONG THERE TOGETHER forever….
