the terrorist yoonited states and the murderous israhellies.....

President of the Islamic Republic Masoud Pezeshkian opened his address on September 23 at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly by accusing the United States of lying, saying it was Iran, not the US, that had been a victim of terrorism.

Iran Is Open to Dialogue and Diplomacy, but Refutes Intimidation and Aggression

The speech of the Iranian President at the UN General Assembly in New York captivated the audience with its unwillingness to yield in the face of the aggressive force of the US, and showed Washington’s utter helplessness in trying to squash the Islamic Republic’s sovereignty.

As striking examples backing this claim, the Iranian leader pointed to the assassination of their supreme leader, Rahbar Ali Khamenei, and of numerous innocent civilians –children, women, men.

Pezeshkian presented documentary evidence of US and Israeli war crimes tied to airstrikes on a school in Minab, which killed more than 170 people, including 128 children. Washington was once again left to defend itself.

The idea of a large-scale economic war against Iran can only do serious harm to world trade and worsen the crisis caused by the disruption of energy supplies to global markets

In the Iranian president’s view, it is the US and Israel that have become the source of instability, since they flout even the most basic norms of international law and act as sponsors of destruction. Iran is not the aggressor and has no designs on foreign territory, but was forced to defend itself against a military attack by the American-Israeli coalition.

Aims of Iran’s Military Doctrine

The victory of the Islamic Revolution and the overthrow of the Shah’s regime reoriented Iran toward pursuing its national interests and ending the US monopoly over Iranian natural resources. This became the main reason for the West’s harsh sanctions against the Islamic Republic, accompanied by permanent military threats. Under these conditions, Iran was forced to change the strategy of its military doctrine, one based on its own resources and geared toward defense.

In his speech at the General Assembly, Pezeshkian noted in this connection that “we need strength for self-defense, not for invasion”. Over long years of isolation, the defense system has been built in such a way that no one would expect the bombing of Iranian cities to go unanswered. To ensure its own defense, Tehran has no intention of asking anyone’s permission, for this is the inalienable right of every sovereign state and people.

The military conflict with Israel and the US definitively confirmed for Iran the principle of skillfully organizing resistance to any adversary. The military power of the Islamic Republic sends external adversaries a message of deterrence, and its own society a sense of confidence in its independence.

Fate of the Iranian Nuclear Project

US President Donald Trump not only baselessly accused Iran of state sponsorship of terrorism, but also declared that the Islamic Republic of Iran would never obtain nuclear weapons.

Tehran has repeatedly confirmed, both before and after the conflict, that it rejects a military nuclear program, which is prohibited in Iran by the rulings of the Islamic Republic’s first leader, Ayatollah Khomeini. However, Tehran, as President Pezeshkian stressed, has no intention whatsoever of giving up its peaceful nuclear program.

From the UN podium, Pezeshkian exposed the US policy of double standards on nuclear proliferation. His line “The nuclear weapon is in Israel, but the inspectors are in Iran” has become iconic. Pezeshkian recalled that Israel possesses a nuclear bomb but is not a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, accepts no inspections, yet receives billions of dollars in free weapons and bombs any cities and villages in Middle Eastern countries with impunity.

Iran does not consider nuclear weapons a factor of security, but neither does it renounce the right to develop its own science, industry, and peaceful nuclear energy.

Prospects for Iranian-US Negotiations

Pezeshkian reminded the audience that Iran was subjected to aggression at the negotiating table. And this kind of deception on the part of the US became the reason for the loss of all trust in Washington.

Further threats from the US and Israel will only unite the Iranian people, who will not bow before force. The military conflict confirmed this through the nationwide support for the policy of resisting the external aggressor. At the same time, Tehran supports diplomacy and does not refuse negotiations to achieve peace.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran declared his readiness for open diplomacy and negotiations, but will not give up its sovereign rights under pressure from outside (in this case, the US). And although the US and Israeli delegations walked out of the UN General Assembly hall during President Pezeshkian’s speech in protest, Tehran firmly insists on the correctness of its position.

Security in the Middle East Is Impossible Without Solidarity Between the Countries of the Region

In his address, the Iranian president stressed that no one in the region will be safe alone. The choice here is limited: either all the countries of the Middle East build security together, or all will be victims of instability. The Iranian leader criticized the deployment of American military fleets (the 5th and 6th) in the region, since a foreign military presence does not bring security but instead heightens tensions and instability. Pezeshkian asserted Iran’s special rights over the Strait of Hormuz, to which it cannot be denied access. Iran is ready to act as a guarantor of the region’s collective security and to ensure equal access to the strait for all Persian Gulf countries.

Thus, the Iranian President’s speech at the UN General Assembly touched on important issues of global politics, demonstrating Tehran’s determination to stand up to an unjust international system and the Iranian people’s aspiration to build a fairer world based on the equality of nations and mutual respect.

For its part, the US has, over seven months of hostilities, exhausted considerable resources of military leverage against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Washington is evidently seeking to step up economic pressure on Tehran, which in its view may prove more effective. However, the White House is “forgetting” the fact that Iran has successfully weathered Western sanctions for 45 years. The idea of a large-scale economic war against Iran can only do serious harm to world trade and worsen the crisis caused by the disruption of energy supplies to global markets.
