Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce has criticised the National Farmers Federation (NFF) for urging the party to pass an amended emissions trading scheme (ETS).

The NFF says the emissions trading scheme should be supported if the Government agrees to exempt agriculture.

The Nationals supported the Coalition in negotiating amendments to the scheme, but say they will not vote for it under any circumstances.

Senator Joyce says the NFF is out of touch.

ABC News Breakfast co-host Virginia Trioli was shown twirling a finger near her temple after a segment showing footage of National Party Senator Barnaby Joyce.
