The dust had hardly started to settle before John Howard was opportunistically ‘dog-whistling’ the tragedy of the London bombings to justify our continuing involvement in the carnage of Iraq (‘We won’t budge on Iraq: Howard’, Herald, July 8).

Whilst this latest murderous terrorist attack on innocent civilians is abhorred by every decent human being, so to should the deaths of many tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians: victims of a US-inspired illegal war of aggression.

The blood of innocent civilians everywhere is inevitably on the hands of arrogant, self-righteous & dishonest politicians & their profiteering corporate handlers: whether they be a brutal dictator, renegade outlaw, ‘accidental’ war president or sometime deputy sheriff.
