Bush likens 'war on terror' to WWIII
US President George W Bush has referred to the "war on terror" as "World War III" during a television interview.

Mr Bush told the CNBC television network the revolt of passengers on the hijacked flight 93 on September 11, 2001, was the "first counter-attack to World War III".

He said he agreed with the description by David Beamer, whose son Todd died in the crash, in a Wall Street Journal commentary last month the act was "our first successful counter-attack in our homeland in this new global war - World War III".

Mr Bush said: "I believe that. I believe that it was the first counter-attack to World War III.

"It was unbelievably heroic of those folks on the airplane to recognise the danger and save lives," Mr Bush said.

Flight 93 crashed on the morning of September 11, 2001, killing the 33 passengers, seven crew members and four hijackers, after passengers stormed the cockpit and battled the hijackers for control of the aircraft.

Mr Bush has repeatedly praised the heroism of the passengers in fighting back and so launching the first blow of what he usually calls the "war on terror".

In 2002, then-White House spokesman Ari Fleischer explicitly declined to call the hunt for Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda group and its followers "World War III".

Mr Bush says he has yet to see the recently-released film of the uprising, a dramatic portrayal of events on the United Airlines plane before it crashed in a Pennsylvania field

Gus tells Bush to go and play his little games on another planet... in the black hole constellation, for example...

More rude words ahead. Don't read this.

Einstein did not know what would be the weapon choice for WWIII... But he knew damn well that the weapons used for World War IV would be sticks and stones... So Mr Bushocchio shove your idea of World War III up your arse and melt away like a bad smell... We do not need you to take us where NO-ONE wants to go... Gus

(I make no apology for being rude but these people are dangerous beyond belief!)

demons .....

When junior conjures-up images of WWIII Gus, he's probably reflecting on the myriad demons that must inhabit his head!!

But again, I'd suggest that only bushit, his cronies & maybe 30% of Americans, including "uncle rupert", now give any credence to his fatuous remarks.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- A U.S.-led coalition military transport helicopter crashed while conducting combat operations in eastern Afghanistan, killing all 10 soldiers on board, a U.S. military spokeswoman said Saturday.

The CH-47 Chinook crashed late Friday while on a mission in support of Operation Mountain Lion, an offensive to root out Taliban and al-Qaida militants near the mountainous border with Pakistan. The crash was not the result of enemy fire, said Lt. Tamara D. Lawrence, a coalition spokeswoman.

''The remains of all the 10 soldiers have been found and there are no survivors,'' she told The Associated Press. ''There is no indication that the helicopter came down due to some enemy action.''

Gus is sad that kids die that way... But wars are what they are: killing fields... When will the most powerful people on earth discover or even search for another way to peace? Wars linger way past declaration of victory — often a tragic illusion for those who die beyond "advertising-accomplished" on the deck of an aircraft carrier... Not only this puppet show was wrong, it was an insult to those who know the truth about wars. The monkeys who declare it — Bush and Bin Laden included — should retire from humanity...

Car bombs kill 30 in Iraq
Car bombs across Iraq have killed 30 people and wounded more than 70 in one of the bloodiest spasms of violence of recent weeks.

The southern city of Basra was largely calm as British military engineers examined the wreck of a helicopter, whose apparent shooting down was followed by clashes between troops and youths chanting triumphal Shiite militia slogans.

Twenty-one people were killed and 52 wounded when a car bomb went off close to the main central bus station in the Shiite holy city of Kerbala, 110 kilometres south of Baghdad, police said.

Around the same time, two cars exploded in the capital.

A suicide car bomber hit an Iraqi army patrol in the mainly Sunni northern district of Aadhamiya, killing eight people and wounding 15.

Soldiers and civilians were among the casualties.

Iraqi and US forces conducted a sweep for rebels in Aadhamiya on Saturday, the US military said.

The area is a stronghold of Sunni Arab insurgents.

A second car bomb exploded at a busy traffic intersection in northern Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding five.

The target was not clear.

Interior Ministry sources say 42 bodies have been found in the last 24 hours in the capital alone, including eight found dumped near Kindi hospital in central Baghdad.

The figure is in line with levels of violence seen in recent months.

A few people believe (rightly? yes, I would believe that...) that the US is trying to "spark" (control/manage) a civil war in Iraq rather than having its troops being fired upon from an Iraqi united front... (divide to rule tactics). When the !raqi people discover the heist, they could unite against the Yanks, then work the spoils of war in blood if they have too... But that could be the only route they have left, if they do not want to indebted to the Americans for 500 years to come... And if they want to be really free to be who they are. A mixture of extremists, intelligent people and greedy people like the rest of us, except they have a different history, thus a different momentum and beliefs...

Riot Erupts in Kabul After U.S. Traffic Accident

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- U.S. and Afghan security forces fired on protesters in the Afghan capital after a riot erupted Monday because of a deadly traffic accident involving U.S. troops, police and eyewitnesses said. At least four people were killed.

Hundreds of protesters marched on the palace of U.S.-backed President Hamid Karzai in the city center after the incident, shouting ''Death to Karzai! Death to America!''

Elsewhere in the city, gunfire was heard near the U.S. Embassy. The staff was moved to a secure location within the heavily fortified compound, said Chris Harris, an embassy spokesman.

Rioters broke into shops and stole household items, and an AP reporter said he saw several demonstrators pull a foreign man from a vehicle and beat him. The man escaped and ran to a line of police, who fired shots over the heads of the demonstrators.

Gus would say something has gone amiss somewhere in the brains of some US personnel and their masters — unless the soldiers are under direct order to shoot and create more problems to give themselves an alibi to "do" more crowd-control with bullets. Intimidation to show who's boss sort of thing... until they get kicked out...

Hundreds of protesters can mean a thousand (as reported on other channels), of which at least ten percent of people can suddenly become involved in some solid counter-occupation activities. This means that in one day's work, a few soldiers of the American army have created a minimum of one hundred "freedom" fighters, just in that particular spot... Furthermore, vengeance can be coldly calculated, cultivated for many many years, even with an apparent patient peace or acceptance oozing at the interface...

Yes, as the US "police" shoots motorists, the traffic will improve in Kabul...

Fighting erupts in Kabul after US military accident
Several people are feared to have been killed in the Afghan capital Kabul during a protest by angry residents after a US military convoy was involved in a traffic accident.

It was not immediately clear who fired first but the violence soon degenerated into a gun-fight between protesters and police.

Reuters reporters at the scene saw one man shot dead and several wounded people being taken away.

Witnesses said some protesters had been killed after police intervened and forced residents to scatter.

"A number of our citizens have been martyred and a number of them have been wounded," Yunus Qanuni, president of the Lower House of Parliament, told the assembly. He urged people to exercise restraint.

Earlier, scores of people took to the streets after a vehicle in a US military convoy was involved in a fatal accident with a taxi and then tried to drive away, witnesses said.

A US military spokeswoman confirmed that a military vehicle had been involved in an accident in which one person had been killed and six injured.

The spokeswoman, Lieutenant Tamara Lawrence, said she had no information about the subsequent shooting.

"People are very angry," said resident Samad Shah.

Protesters set two police vehicles on fire and damaged a vehicle belonging to an Afghan television station.

Gunfire later erupted between protesters and police, Reuters journalists said.

A man standing next to a Reuters cameraman was shot and killed, the cameraman said.

Scores of protesters blocked a main road running through the capital and there were sporadic exchange of gunfire involving police and protesters, a police official said.

Gus apologises... It appears it was the Afghan police who did the shooting but how can we really know what happened... ? The problem is created by weapons of all kinds, too many troops, not enough troops, and too many possibility of oops-more-collateral-damage... Are things improving? Nada, not, niet, non, nicht... Too many bullets... not enough good will... And the police is doing the work for a US puppet government...?

Gus can only deplore more loss of lives in Iraq... An no matter how good the US soldiers are, and how we "need" them there, according to Jose Ramos-Horta in his 2005 writings (thanks John for showing us this), the whole war in Iraq, as declared by the US, has been a shameful sham...

41 dead in one day, bombs galore, many injured, families in mourning, revenge, anger, frustrations, more killings... and the US army cannot stem the flow... Can they? Without creating more problems? That whoever-little-Dubya started this "war" and he should be feeling disgusted with himself, but he wont... So many death resulting from his decision to go to war and abandoning the route of peace via peaceful means...
