The Messenger Press Newspaper, 21st June p. 3 and p. 9,reads that the Premier Mike Rann
and ALP MP L. Simmons, have had a series of "street corner
meetings" with Campbelltown residents and ratepayers. The residents and ratepayers are
meant to be "feral" about Campbelltown Council and the inability of
the council to "hear them". The residents and ratepayers seem not
feel consulted re decisions made on council via majority vote. In the Messenger June 21, p. 10 Mayor Steve Woodcock says council has "followed due process". There seems to be a debate about whether the consultation process occurrs and is adheered to. Perhaps the council needs to define for us what they mean by "due process" and "consultation".
Ms Simmons MP has door knocked 5000 of the 6000 plus homes in
her electorate and found that all people talked about was their concerns over
Campbelltown Council. That certainly seems to me to be allot of members of the
community.
The Messenger 21 June reports that Cr Amber feels that the Civic Centre
plans are "taking shape nicely. The Messenger 21 June p. 8, says Cr Woods
thinks its "tremendous!" and Cr Malthouse thinks its "exciting". I thought they were representing the community? Perhaps......!
In another article related to the same issue the Messenger Press June 21, p. 9, reports that the
Mayor of Campbelltown, Steve Woodcock refers to the street corner meeting
findings as "a handful of residents".
MMmmmm..... 5000 peoplehomes equating to the 10 fingers on my hand
mmmm.... I think one side is heavier than the other on the scale of opinion!
People may like
to find out which councillors are actually continueing to make these unpopular
decisions as well as finding out which councillors are actually listening to
the community and getting results for the community.
