When politicians announce a tax cut to be delivered after they've been re-elected, there are no prizes for guessing it's an electoral bribe. But they never fail to sanctify the exercise by assuring the lucky recipients that the money they're getting will do wonders for the economy.

Malcolm Turnbull is going into this election promising a pathetically small tax cut to the top quarter of taxpayers, which starts – officially, anyway – the day before the election.

How does the budget stack up as an exercise in tax reform?  

Plus a one-sixth cut in the rate of company tax that's to be phased in over the next decade, starting small and ending big.

Company tax will be cut because Turnbull & Co Ava Plan to help Jobson Grothe​.

Which sounds nice. But is it good enough?

Before the last election, Tony Abbott promised to devote his first term to laying the ground for major tax reform. There'd be a full inquiry – with no restrictions on what could be considered – a green (discussion) paper and finally a white paper setting out exactly what the government planned to do in its second term if re-elected.

Lessons of the last week

Here I sit after returning from hiding from the media. I don’t know where to start this except with what are the lessons for Australia in this episode

I think they are this 1 if a person shows the powers to be out of touch people that they are they will be dropped, probed and attacked in any way with no thought to the mental wellbeing of their children.

2 this exposing of your life and every discrepancy in it will be published ruining your job prospects (would you give me a job after a google search comes up with the headlines of last week and will be used as a example to keep people like me quiet)

Now there has been serious consequences from the decisions that the news corp press has taken in my so called story. I told everybody I talk to that I have just been to the royal commission and have serious mental issues. Knowing this the right wing press decided to write the story’s they did without a care for me or my (now ex partner ) mental health . Now as somebody who is training to learn to be a mental health advocate I ask does News Corp have a mental health policy when it comes to dealing with people like me. Yes they do, they have thrown this out to show the world that power. Has news corp broken the mental health act by knowing I have issues, my partner has issues and still coming in boots and all.

We appreciate your dismay at the merde-och press, but don't cry too much over it. The maddest person on the planet is Uncle Rupe. He is mad because he controls a lot of sane people to do outrageous and dangerous things, including trying to shoot you down. Trump does not come up to Uncle Rupe's boot-laces when it comes to being a megalomaniac. So to say the least, take what the Daily Turdocrap says about you with a pinch of salt. Trying to attack the arse-holes who bludge at the editorialising cloaca of the DT would only reinforce their right to be arse-holes and bigots, or bigoted arse-holes in a cesspool.

Goebbels would have been to tame for Uncle Rupe to employ...

 

The Warren cartoon below appeared on Saturday June 25 in the Daily Telegraph — a Murdoch paper.

It's VERY FUNNY except it does not reflect the situation one bit. Well, may be a little. Or a bit more. Comparing Brexit to the bumbling Mr Fawlty and the bumbling EU to Manuel in Fawlty Towers is actually a stroke of genius, except... it is misunderstanding the debate... Europe is bigger than Britain for starters and Europe wants Britain out of Europe as soon as possible.

A toon where Basil Fawlty hits himself in the eye during a tantrum, while being kicked in the butt by Sybil — his wife representing the EU — would be more appropriate... But then one would not have the crutch of dealing with the foreign thick sausage in Britain...

As it stands the cartoon is FUNNY, a bit too right wing and misrepresentative.
