President Barack Obama had three press secretaries during his eight years in the White House. The Obama press secretaries were Robert Gibbs, Jay Carney and Josh Earnest. Obama broke a string of two consecutive presidents who hired women to serve in the role. Each of Obama's press secretaries was a man.

It is not unusual for a president to have more than one press secretary. The job is grueling and stressful; the average White House spokesman stays in the job for only two and a half years, according to the International Business Times, which described the position as "the worst job in government." Bill Clinton also had three press secretaries and George W. Bush had four. 

The press secretary is not a member of the president's cabinet or the White House Executive Office. The White House press secretary works in the White House Office of Communications.

The Press Secretaries are employed to tell lies on behalf of the president... Some are more skilled than others but it also depends on the way the President of the USA manages his/her own lies (we'll close Guantanamo), and also on the way the MMMM (Mediocre Mass Media de Shit) is enamoured with the President. The press was eating in the hand of Obama who was very clever in his obfuscation with spirited fun.

For example "Carney's toughest jobs was defending the Obama administration in the face of intense criticism over how it handled the 2012 terrorist attack on an American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that resulted in the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others." But the story that the press missed entirely was about "why go to war against Gaddafi?" in the first instance. There was no reason other than Gaddafi was trying to set up a Pan-African Bank that would deal oil and other goodies in another currency than the US dollar (God). The usual mantra that "he was about to kill his own people" was a lot of bullshit.

 

The new buzz is to appear buzzy while producing nothing... I mean busy with new cool fast vernacular and miniaturised baby-sized ideas that are tailored for minimalistic Millenials to cope with the simplest of task, outside punching a small smartphone with two thumbs to tell their mates that they are... are... are.... hey who cares... They “read” (actually they can’t read, they see only images of words without understanding spellings) the thinnest of news digest on a rolling thumb-flicked screen till they hit the latest Hollywood naked scandal and stay there for two whole seconds, scanning the image not for the sexy titillating bit but for the latest swimwear fashion which is already dead yesterday. 

So busy we, young people, are that there is no time to do anything thoughtfully before moving onto the next page of waft. ADHD is rife. It is de rigour. Addiction to the smartphones is necessary and obligatory. The temptation to respond to a “text” or post an instant image is so great that a large proportion of young — L-plated, P-plated and on the loose — drivers are online, driving and punching away the keyboard... while trying to appear not to. I’ve been crashed in the back of my car by a few of them, even discounting those on cocaine.

We, responsible adults who mucked up the planet by trying hard to muck up the planet, need to perform all we wish to say in three seconds to maintain the attention span in our educated youth who will move on to the next distraction. It’s tiring for the old bones...

Apparently, in serious atmospheric professional hubristical devotion to the new yooth, a new social media strategy to catch these young flies, involves a debate over the word “program,” (or programme) and the glorious five-seconds opening of a new highway extension using Facebook. This has been compared to the TV program Utopia by senior staff inside a Department of Infrastructure in Kanbra, also designed by the government massaging the media into believing that things are moving fast while pandemonium of doing not much, at speeds like a fly in a jar, is the rule. 

On the other side of the coin, the deceitful Abbott Government hid the way it dealt with refugees at sea, in order to turn the boats as “promised”. This became a dirty secret “war” in which the Australian Navy breached again and again the rules of international maritime behaviour. We were not suppose to notice the orange lifeboats. Some journalists found bits and pieces of information but in general the serious scribes met the wall of “operational matter” under which any disclosure of information would “place the country at risk”. This was rubbish, but eventually this disgusting Australian refugee policy led to the Manus Island disgrace and others.

But to “tell the truth”, we, the populace of indebted morons, were asleep most of the time, reassured by our Liberal (CONservative) government that the budget would be in the black soon and that the sun was shinning because we were burning more coal. And what was global warming again? A pseudo-scientific scare promoted by the Communists to bugger our economy. But the yooths don’t care much about these long drawn out issues. The yooths don’t even know the meaning of issue. Most who reach puberty while being already in charge of a media department know the value of vacuous hubris to counteract the threat of hard work. This is the concept they have learnt while doing an arts degree at Oxford university, under the pretence of a Rhodes scholarship, and fudged Graball economics at colleges like Harvard.

Meanwhile, our magic communication hub, the NBN, devised by Turnbull under Abbott instructions, would get a first class governmental tick despite being downsized from the original plan to a Tesla coil linked to a penlite that would glow in the dark for $29.95 plus postage. 

Amongst these communication and communicative gems that would be satirical if they never happened, the media itself is being infested by “fake news” and other tremors that make old journalists shake their heads. Nothing new with “fake news” despite being the “word of the year”, now compressed to: Fakenews, gefälschteNachrichten, Faussesnouvelles, noticiasfalsas and Falsumnuntium. Here the Roman and the Greek writers had already perfected the art of fake news back in BC. Thereafter, the art of “fake news” was adopted by the Religious mobs and all other “fake news” were deemed to be fake. 

There was a satirical show on the Beeb, made about three years ago that seems to have been used as training videos for budding millenials, soon parachuted in leadership positions because they would not be able to produce anything but to show other people how to be cool and trendy while not producing anything. 

Programs (programmes) that had been viewed by 4 million people on TV last Wednesday were already passé and the new way of doing things was to get “the public” to send their own (short preferable) videos of their cats, dogs and latest ailments to compare with other videos of the same ilk, that would be seen by many yooth on their smartphones, instantly. Cool!... Of course, the senior producer saw this venture as a public-funded Yootoobe in a tone saying public toilet, but this was shot down in flame by the new yooth executive in a barrage of fancy words and illusionary statistics, designed to pander to our new young morons. 

This would be funny, like our own Utopia show on ABC/TV which I do not watch because having been there, I find it excruciatingly too close to the bone, when I had to fight for the good oil, in advertising and other situations. See my friend E. T. Gundlach... But this new cool is infiltrating ALL our media, including, I believe, our esteemed ABC, from the top (?) down... So, dear public, if you really want to know anything, read the fake news, invert it and divide by three, add a pinch of salt and forget it. The “news” has been massaged for a long time to suit our shrunken brains.

Hillary Clinton on Trump’s Special Counsel Threat: “This Is Such an Abuse of Power”

In an exclusive interview with Mother Jones, Clinton warns that prosecuting her would be “like some dictatorship, like some authoritarian regime.”

“I regret deeply that this appears to be the politicization of the Justice Department and our justice system,” Clinton said on Wednesday. “This Uranium One story has been debunked countless times by members of the press, by independent experts. It is nothing but a false charge that the Trump administration is trying to drum up to avoid attention being drawn to them.”

She said the Trump administration was trying to change the subject from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump’s presidential campaign and the Russian government. But she said she was not personally worried about being prosecuted.

“I’m not concerned, because I know that there is no basis to it,” she said. “I regret if they do it because it will be such a disastrous step to politicizing the justice system. And at the end of the day, nothing will come of it, but it will, you know, cause a lot of terrible consequences that we might live with for a really long time.”

Three months ago, The Washington Post reported that even as Donald Trump ran for president, he pursued plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. The next day, The New York Times published excerpts from emails between Felix Sater, a felon with ties to Russian organized crime, and Michael Cohen, one of Donald Trump’s lawyers and Sater’s childhood friend, about the project. Sater was apparently an intermediary between Trump and Russia, and in a Nov. 3, 2015, email to Cohen, he made the strange argument that a successful deal would lead to Trump’s becoming president. Boasting that he was close enough to Vladimir Putin to let Ivanka Trump sit in the Russian president’s desk chair, Sater wrote, “I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected.”

These stories and many others have been debunked and proven false. Ivanka Trump did not sit in Putin's chair. And whether Trump was planning a Trump Tower is Moscow is irrelevant, if ever he did. On Aug. 9, 1974, Richard Nixon bowed to the inevitability of impeachment and conviction by a Democratic Senate and resigned.

The prospect of such an end for Donald Trump has this city drooling. Yet, comparing Russiagate and Watergate, history is not likely to repeat itself.

First, the underlying crime in Watergate, a break-in to wiretap offices of the DNC, had been traced, within 48 hours, to the Committee to Re-Elect the President.

In Russiagate, the underlying crime—the “collusion” of Trump’s campaign with the Kremlin to hack into the emails of the DNC—has, after 18 months of investigating, still not been established.

Campaign manager Paul Manafort has been indicted, but for financial crimes committed long before he enlisted with Trump.

Gen. Michael Flynn has pled guilty to lying about phone calls he made to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, but only after Trump had been elected and Flynn had been named national security adviser.

Flynn asked Kislyak for help in blocking or postponing a Security Council resolution denouncing Israel, and to tell Vladimir Putin not to go ballistic over President Obama’s expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats.

This is what security advisers do.

Why Flynn let himself be ensnared in a perjury trap, when he had to know his calls were recorded, is puzzling.

Second, it is said Trump obstructed justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey for refusing to cut slack for Flynn.

But even Comey admits Trump acted within his authority.

And Comey had usurped the authority of Justice Department prosecutors when he announced in July 2016 that Hillary Clinton ought not to be prosecuted for having been “extremely careless” in transmitting security secrets over her private email server.

We now know that the first draft of Comey’s statement described Clinton as “grossly negligent,” the precise statute language for an indictment.

We also now know that helping to edit Comey’s first draft to soften its impact was Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe. His wife, Jill McCabe, a candidate for state senate in Virginia, received $467,000 in campaign contributions from the PAC of Clinton bundler Terry McAuliffe.

Comey has also admitted he leaked to the New York Times details of a one-on-one with Trump to trigger the naming of a special counsel—to go after Trump. And that assignment somehow fell to Comey’s predecessor, friend, and confidant Robert Mueller.

Mueller swiftly hired half a dozen prosecutorial bulldogs who had been Clinton contributors, and Andrew Weinstein, a Trump hater who had congratulated Acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to carry out Trump’s travel ban.

FBI official Peter Strzok had to be been removed from the Mueller probe for hatred of Trump manifest in texts to his FBI lady friend.

Strzok was also involved in the investigation of Clinton’s email server and is said to have been the one who persuaded Comey to tone down his language about her misconduct, and let Hillary walk.

In Mueller’s tenure, still no Trump tie to the hacking of the DNC has been found. But a connection between Hillary’s campaign and Russian spies—to find dirt to smear and destroy Trump and his campaign—has been fairly well established.

By June 2016, the Clinton campaign and DNC had begun shoveling millions of dollars to the Perkins Coie law firm, which had hired the oppo research firm Fusion GPS, to go dirt-diving on Trump.

Fusion contacted ex-British MI6 spy Christopher Steele, who had ties to former KGB and FSB intelligence agents in Russia. They began to feed Steele, who fed Fusion, which fed the U.S. anti-Trump media with the alleged dirty deeds of Trump in Moscow hotels.

While the truth of the dirty dossier has never been established, Comey’s FBI rose like a hungry trout on learning of its contents.

There are credible allegations Comey’s FBI sought to hire Steele and used the dirt in his dossier to broaden the investigation of Trump—and that its contents were also used to justify FISA warrants on Trump and his people.

This week, we learned that the Justice Department’s Bruce Ohr had contacts with Fusion during the campaign, while his wife actually worked at Fusion investigating Trump. This thing is starting to stink.

Is the Trump investigation the rotten fruit of a poisoned tree?

Is Mueller’s Dump Trump team investigating the wrong campaign?

There are other reasons to believe Trump may survive the deep state-media conspiracy to break his presidency, overturn his mandate, and reinstate a discredited establishment.

Trump has Fox News and fighting congressmen behind him and the mainstream media is deeply distrusted and widely detested. And there is no Democratic House to impeach him or Democratic Senate to convict him.

Moreover, Trump is not Nixon, who, like Charles I, accepted his fate and let the executioner’s sword fall with dignity.

If Trump goes, one imagines, he will not go quietly.

Donald Trump’s press secretary issued a begrudging clarification on Sunday after being accused of posting a misleading photograph of the president online.

Sarah Sanders was criticised for a tweet on Saturday that appeared to show Trump busily directing missile strikes against Syria from the White House situation room, with vice president Mike Pence at his right hand.

“Last night the President put our adversaries on notice: when he draws a red line he enforces it,” Sanders wrote as a caption.

Keen observers promptly noted that the photograph could not have been taken on Friday as the attacks were mounted – because by then Pence had arrived in Peru to deliver remarks at the Summit of the Americas.

“Fascinating tweet in which Sarah Sanders reveals that Mike Pence was simultaneously in Peru and Washington,” said Walter Shaub, the former director of the office of government ethics. “If this new capability doesn’t scare our enemies, nothing will.”

Sanders on Sunday responded with a new installment from the Trump administration’s series of prickly statements in which an inaccurate remark is simultaneously defended and amended.

It said: “As I said, the President put our adversaries on notice that he enforces red lines with the strike on Syria Friday night. The photo was taken Thursday in the Situation Room during Syria briefing.”

Trump, who frequently makes untrue statements, last month posted misleading photographs of his own. Pictures supposedly showing the start of work on his much-vaunted border wall in fact showed repairs to an existing fence in California.

Sarah Sanders had it coming. If she wanted the respect of the Washington press corps and a fat corporate job after leaving the White House, she should have worked for a Democrat.

But she chose to be the press secretary for the Worst Human Being Ever, so she deserves the mud bath she’s getting on her way out the door.

Go back to Arkansas, you hick, you lying Republican rube. Besides, as a woman and mother, how could you work for him?

That pretty much sums up the tone of the coverage that greeted Sanders’ announcement that she is leaving after two years on the firing line. There was neither fondness nor civility and none of the usual willingness to let bygones be bygones when the day is done.

This was personal and it was cruel.

Moments like this reveal how nasty and partisan the left-wing media has become. Their hatred of Trump knows no bounds, and many are using the departure of Sanders to engage in what the late Charles Krauthammer called “moral preening.”

Sanders, you see, is unforgiven and will never eat another expense- account lunch in the nation’s capital. The media enforcers are better than her and she is condemned for eternity.

Donny Deutsch, on MSNBC, said her legacy will be the “toxicity and the cancer that stays with” her. Joe Scarborough chimed in to say she would “have trouble” getting another Washington job for the rest of her life.

“She would claim to represent the truth on behalf of a president who lies,” columnist Margaret Sullivan wrote in The Washington Post. “She did it disrespectfully, and apparently without shame or an understanding of what the role of White House press secretary should be.”

Sullivan accused Sanders of lying with a “distinctive curled-lip disdain” and stopped her finger-wagging only long enough to bring in a wise man to put it all in historic ­perspective.

“Sanders failed at all aspects of the job,” said the wise man, one Joe Lockhart, a press secretary for … Bill Clinton.

Ah yes, the good old days, when lying to the press was commonly called spin. Media Democrats don’t mind being misled as long as it is by a fellow traveler.

We’re all on the same team, right?

Lockhart is prime proof that nothing succeeds like working for a corrupt, dishonest — and impeached — Democrat.

When he was promoted in October 1998 to replace Mike McCurry, Lockhart was welcomed with a series of puff pieces. None other than George Stephanopoulos — Clinton’s first press secretary and ever since an ABC anchor — dutifully praised him effusively. Stop the presses.

In its profile, The New York Times slobbered, then slobbered some more. “Mr. Lockhart is a Mets and Bruce Springsteen fan who comes across like a regular guy you would probably enjoy having a beer with,” it wrote, saying he “is inclined to fall back on humor as the scandal coverage continues.”

The article, like several others, quoted his wife, who like Lockhart was a former journalist, as saying she hoped he could still get home to read their daughter, Clare, her favorite bedtime story, “Little Bear.’”

Sarah Sanders, who graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, has three young children. I bet you don’t know their names and their favorite bedtime stories.

When it came to defending a president who had sex with an intern in the Oval Office, “regular guy” Lockhart was a total warrior. On the day Clinton finally admitted it all under oath, Lockhart, speaking 20 years later, told the Times his attitude was “Well, we’ve just got to fight our way out of this.”

Last year, on CNN, where he is a paid commentator, he insisted his defense of Clinton was somehow different than Sanders’ defense of Trump. Presumably that covers the attempts to hide Monica Lewinsky in the Pentagon, the pardons-for-sale scandal, the renting out of the Lincoln Bedroom and many other deceptions.

Yet working for Clinton certainly didn’t damage Lockhart’s career, as he later scored top gigs at Facebook and the National Football League. When Barack and Michelle Obama left the White House, they leased Lockhart’s mansion in DC’s ritzy Kalorama district, then bought it for $8.1 million.

The Democrat-media industrial complex was a major feature of both the Clinton and Obama administrations. Jay Carney, Obama’s second press secretary, was Time magazine’s Washington bureau chief and his wife is a reporter at ABC.

Carney was on duty when PolitiFact named Obama’s line that “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” the Lie of the Year for 2013.

There were no media calls for Carney to resign in protest over Obama’s lie, and his loyalty earned him a very nice afterlife. He, too, moved to CNN, then became Amazon’s senior vice president for global corporate affairs.

Sanders, just 36, will never be a member of that elite boys club. Journalists might have at least recognized her for being just the third woman to hold the job, but that would mean giving Trump credit and excusing her decision to work for him.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - Joe Biden intends to appoint former Obama State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki as his White House press secretary, Biden's transition team has announced.

On Sunday, Biden's team announced new members of the White House staff who will serve in senior communications roles, with all females picked for his presumed communications team.

"I am proud to announce today the first senior White House communications team comprised entirely of women. These qualified, experienced communicators bring diverse perspectives to their work and a shared commitment to building this country back better", Biden said, as quoted in his team's Sunday release.

Biden’s communications team will be led by Kate Bedingfield, a longtime aide who served as his campaign communications director and who will now be White House Communications Director.

Jen Psaki, who previously served as the spokeswoman for the State Department during Obama's tenure, as his White House Press Secretary on Sunday. Psaki reacted to the news on Twitter, praising Biden for his previous political efforts while serving in the Obama administration.

Honored to work again for @JoeBiden, a man I worked on behalf of during the Obama-Biden Admin as he helped lead economic recovery, rebuilt our relationships with partners (turns out good practice) and injected empathy and humanity into nearly every meeting I sat in.

Biden's transition team also named Symone Sanders as Kamala Harris's spokesperson, Ashley Etienne as Harris's communications director, Karine Jean-Pierre as Deputy Press Secretary, Pili Tobar as Deputy White House Communications Director, and Elizabeth E. Alexander as Communications Director for the First Lady.

Major US media outlets have projected Democratic nominee Joe Biden to be the winner of the 3 November presidential election. 

While incumbent President Donald Trump has said he would leave the White House if the Electoral College votes for Biden, he has so far refused to concede, pledging to continue his legal fight for the legitimate results.
