blair, bush, howard, cheney, wolfowitz, biden, clinton, obama...US President Joe Biden has called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “a war criminal” over the conflict in Ukraine, with the Kremlin responding that such remarks from the United States are “unacceptable and unforgivable.” During a White House event on Wednesday, Biden was asked by one of the reporters if he considered Russia’s president a war criminal. Initially, Biden answered “no,” but then he asked the journalist to clarify the question and said: “Oh I think he is a war criminal.” Commenting on the American leader’s remarks, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told TASS that Moscow considers “unacceptable and unforgivable such rhetoric from the head of state, whose bombs killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world.” While the US has consistently condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Biden’s remarks on Wednesday apparently mark the first time the American leader used a term as strong as “war criminal” to describe Putin’s actions. Previously, the White House avoided using this definition, explaining that it was a specific legal term. In a speech on Wednesday, Biden accused the Russian military of shelling hospitals and apartment buildings – something that Moscow denies. The president’s remarks came a day after the US Senate backed a resolution declaring Putin a war criminal. The Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday that both Democrats and Republicans joined together “to say that Vladimir Putin cannot escape accountability for the atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people.” Putin has consistently denied the accusations of indiscriminate shelling of Ukrainian cities by the Russian forces, stressing that the military “are working with modern high-precision weapons,” hitting only military targets. Moscow attacked Ukraine in late February, following a seven-year standoff over Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, and Russia's eventual recognition of the Donbass republics with capitals in Donetsk and Lugansk. The German- and French-brokered protocols had been designed to regularize the status of those regions within the Ukrainian state. Russia has now demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force. The West imposed tough sanctions on Russia for the offensive against Ukraine, including against Putin personally. Moscow responded with counter sanctions which targeted the US President.

Resurfaced Video Shows Biden Confessing He Proposed Bombing of Belgrade in NATO Op in Yugoslavia
Earlier, Joe Biden labelled President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal" over Russia’s operation to demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine, launched on 24 February to defend the predominantly Russian-speaking people of the two breakaways, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR, LPR), against deadly offensive attacks by the Kiev regime.
A video has resurfaced on social media, where then-senator Joe Biden, speaking at a Senate Foreign Affairs Committee meeting in 1998, say he suggested bombing the peaceful city of Belgrade and sending American pilots to destroy all the bridges on the Danube in 1999.
The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, reposted the footage on his social media account, reminding the current US President of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia that is estimated to have killed about 2,500 people, including 89 children.
“Can Biden be reminded who the war criminal is?" queried Rogozin, adding:
"On the edge of his grave, this bloody old man must remember his atrocities, the thousands of civilians he killed."
The Russian space chief statement followed POTUS' move to label Russian President Vladimir Putin a "war criminal".
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also reminded that the meeting in the video featuring Biden took place just a year before the bombing of Belgrade.
“Biden says he was the one who suggested bombing the Yugoslav capital. I repeat once again - he talks about this even before the actual bombing, explaining that if Belgrade had been bombed, as he advised, then 200 thousand people would not have died in Bosnia. And all this is being said by a representative of a state that had neither common borders nor a common history with Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia posed no direct or indirect threat to the United States or its citizens,” said Zakharova.
Russia’s operation to "demilitarise and de-Nazify" Ukraine, launched on 24 February, was in response to ramped up deadly offensive attacks by the Kiev regime on the predominantly Russian-speaking people of Donbass in southeast Ukraine. It came after Moscow officially recognised the two breakaways, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR, LPR), established in the spring of 2014 in response to the Western-backed coup in Kiev and since then systematically subjected to “abuse, genocide”.
Responding to the official request for military assistance from the DPR and LPR, the Russian government has repeatedly stated that the goal of the current operation was to neutralise Ukraine's military capacity while not harming the civilian population of the country.
The US and a slew of NATO allies have vociferously been condemning Russia’s ongoing operation in Ukraine as an “invasion”, despite their own bloody track record.
Washington and its Western cohorts have waged numerous military operations unilaterally, without any authorisation from the United Nations, ranging from US-led wars to proxy aggression, with the bombing of former Yugoslavia a glaring example.
In 1999 NATO waded into the armed confrontation between Albanian separatists from the Kosovo Liberation Army and the Serbian army, that erupted in 1992, launching a military operation against the-then Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
Joe Biden, a Democratic Senator from Delaware at the time, was among the first to call for the so-called "lift and strike" policy of ditching the UN-imposed arms embargo, in place since 1991, and supporting Bosnian Muslims with NATO air strikes.
The successive administrations of George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton had initially shown reluctant to implement the policy. However, finally a measure sponsored by Bob Dole (R-Kansas) and senator Joseph Lieberman (D-Connecticut), referred to as the Dole-Lieberman bill, passed by a vote of 69–29 and had the bipartisan support of 21 Democrats and 48 Republicans. The binding legislation prodded the Clinton Administration into taking a more forceful stand.
Yugoslavia's refusal to sign the Rambouillet Accords, citing unacceptable conditions offered to Belgrade by Western mediators, was initially offered as justification for NATO's use of force. The decision to move against the sovereign nation was based on allegations by Western countries that the Yugoslav authorities were allegedly carrying out ethnic cleansing of Kosovo Albanians.
Codenamed Operation Allied Force, it resulted in NATO forces pounding the country with cruise missiles and airstrikes.
The operation, which witnessed use of military force by NATO without the approval of the UN Security council, ended up killing scores of civilians and wreaking havoc upon the country’s infrastructure. Numerous bridges, industrial facilities and public buildings got blown up along with actual military targets, as NATO airstrikes continued from March 24 to June 10, 1999.
The Serbian authorities say that about 2,500 people, including 89 children, were killed and about 12,500 people were injured in the bombings. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that the use of depleted uranium weapons caused a dramatic surge in the number of cancer patients in the country.

President Xi Jinping of China arrived in Serbia on Tuesday for a two-day visit, landing on the 25th anniversary of the deadly US airstrike on the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.
The strike, which came during the 1999 NATO air war in support of ethnic Albanian separatists in Kosovo, killed three Chinese nationals and injured 20 more. Beijing never fully accepted Washington’s apology that the strike had been a mistake caused by “old maps.”
China “should never forget” the bombs that claimed the lives of Shao Yunhuan, Xu Xinghu, and Zhu Ying, Xi wrote in an opinion piece published on Tuesday by Serbia’s oldest newspaper, Politika.
“The Chinese people cherish peace, but we will never allow such tragic history to repeat itself,”the president added.
Serbian MiG-29 fighters, purchased from Russia several years ago to replace NATO-inflicted losses, were scheduled to provide an honor guard to Xi’s airplane as it entered Serbian airspace.
Since Xi’s last visit in 2016, Beijing has emerged as Belgrade’s largest foreign investor and second-largest trading partner after Brussels. China has also backed Serbia’s territorial integrity with regard to Kosovo, whose provisional government declared independence in 2008 with US and NATO backing. The EU has recently named recognition of Kosovo as a condition for Serbia’s prospective membership.
We support Serbia’s efforts to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and oppose any attempt by any forces to interfere in Serbia’s internal affairs,” Xi wrote in his article for Politika.
China and Serbia “hold similar positions on many major international and regional issues,” Xi noted, adding that the two countries should cooperate in bringing about “an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.”
Both Beijing and Belgrade have refused to join the US and its allies in imposing an embargo on Russia over the Ukraine conflict, despite repeated demands from the West to do so. Visiting France on Monday, Xi told President Emmanuel Macron that he rejected Western attempts to pressure China over Ukraine and “incite a new Cold War.”
Xi described Serbia as “a land of beauty and legends” and said that its friendship with China, “forged with the blood of our compatriots,” will inspire the two nations “to march forward with big strides.”
The Chinese delegation, consisting of around 400 people, is expected to sign some 30 agreements with its Serbian hosts over the two-day visit. After Belgrade, Xi is scheduled to visit neighboring Hungary, another important Chinese trading partner in Europe although it is an EU member.
