some of them survived the extinction of 65 million years ago……..
United Australia Party leader Craig Kelly says there is “no comparison” to the party’s last federal election effort, as the Liberal Party defector and his now-colleague Clive Palmer sought to bat away journalists’ questions about the lofty promises made to a sea of yellow-clad supporters a few hours earlier at Saturday’s campaign launch. In scenes akin to a music festival, attendees at the Sunshine Coast event – held at Palmer’s long-shuttered golf resort – were met with bright-yellow “Save Australia” and “Freedom Forever” signage, with Palmer’s new “Cliveopolis” shrine in the foreground of Mt Coolum.

I believe free sets of Menzies eyebrows were given to the crowd of naive duds — but they had to buy the yellow T-shirts with the new slogans: DINOSAUR PISS IS YELLOW TOO! PISS YELLOW FOR FREEDOM! MORE YELLOW PISS, LESS TAXES!

palmer is a thief of history...
When irksome Queensland mining billionaire and coronavirus misinformation purveyor Clive Palmer asked the Australian Electoral Commission to approve a name change of his eponymous party, there were objections.
In an uncharacteristically modest move, Palmer asked to remove his moniker from Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party and revert to the party’s 2018 designation, United Australia Party, nicking the name of the 1930s party of prime ministers Joseph Lyons, Billy Hughes and Robert Menzies.
Objections included that the original UAP was an Australian political party from 1931 to 1945, which included two terms of government, the second when Menzies was prime minister.
“It is misleading to voters who hold Robert Menzies in high regard to use this party name today,” said one submission to the AEC.
But in August AEC Assistant Commissioner Joanne Reid approved the name change. “I also do not consider that the name ‘United Australia Party’ should be prohibited on the grounds it could be confused with a political party of the same name that contested elections from 1934-1945 and be confused or mistaken with the Liberal Party of Australia due to a historic connection,” she wrote.
Two weeks later, superb egotist and former Liberal MP Craig Kelly announced he was joining the UAP as its frontman and to access its huge election war chest.
And what do you know?
In a bit of shameless self-promotion that will surprise precisely zero voters, the United Australia Party features a gallery on its website of “United Australia Party Prime Ministers” with Lyons, Hughes and Menzies front and centre, as if Palmer and Kelly are the inheritors of their electoral legacy, rather than the Liberal Party.
