the rainbowed vs the anti-rainbow…..This is the state of our Western Anglo-Saxons today: confusion. The definition of populism is conflicted by various populist trends. The right, the left, the LGBTiW+ (I have added the Wankers to the nomenclature), the traditional Christians versus the progressive and of course the warmongers versus the naked peaceniks, the lovely Democrats versus the nasty republicans, all with their arse in the air as they feed from the same capitalistic trough.
I restrict this version of confusion to the UK/US hegemony, though the West, the East and the Middle at large suffers various degrees of “populism” — some that may not encompass homosexuality which could be latently abhorrent in, say, Catholic Poland but which is part of “freedom” in Ukraine, because Ukraine deserves freedom to be rainbowed — though it is a country that was never unified, because some people there love the Russians while others hate the Ruskies, traditionally or not, with a hate/love of the Jews in the mix. So there.
So is a right to abortion a populist vision or a populist delusion?
The (dis-)United States is a hotbed of populism. Even the old Jo Biden, dotty in his deceitfully tarnished golden years, plays the game of liberal populism as instructed by his teleprompter. He will use the abortion issue as a populist reinforcement of his tanking populism. Even the democratic Democrat Judge Ginsberg didn't like the Wade vs Roe law…
Most think-tanks about populism refer to Trump, Le Pen and Orban as the representatives of the nasty movements of popularism that are dictatorial. Meanwhile many rightwing outlets refer the “woke” movement as a stupid populist dictatorial movement that confuses issues in order to promote freedom to be stupid about race and sex…
Sex, genders and breast-feeding become rights rather than natural trends, because rights are more popular than the obviously draconian evolution of mistake-full nature. Nature is somewhat annoyingly dictatorial, but through our genetic and medical inventions we try to dictate the terms of our lives. We live longer. We still lose our mind to senility towards the end. Experiments on mice show… Oh… Forget it. We had a crummy life so far, miserably controlled by various populist trends, like mice on treadmills — especially religions — and our freedom to think won’t change the universe — even if we understand the universe better with an atom-cracking cyclotron.
So, which trends are we going to follow, even if it’s our own invention which won’t be unique because someone in a cave painted the same hunting scene to explain the caper 20,000 years ago?
I could refer to a certain anonymous critic, on the Literary Gazette, who invented abstract painting — way before abstract painting — in May 1842:
“… as if by throwing handfuls of white and blue and red at the canvas, and letting what would stick, stick.”
Some painters thought this was a good idea, and Jackson Pollock was born 100 years later to become Jackson Pollock. Then the bourgeois valuing of exchange came in with more dollars than sense.
So basically, most of what we think or do, leads eventually to a populist trend, even if loony. As long as we're happy and don't destroy the joint, all's good...
So why do some people hate populism, when even the hate of populism can turn into a populist trend? Presently, quite a few people mourn the collapse of societies — or the incoming collapse thereof. Some populism are against the populism of elites or populism against populisms that demand acceptance of others who are “not like us”. Do we accept forced marriages and chopping the hands of thieves so we can share a meal with a Muslim?
The price of fish and tomatoes is thus a sore point. Meanwhile, the voltage of our electric system is regulated. From country to country, different plug-in are used in order to minimise blowing up a fuse, because of various standardised supplies…
So at what point do we start to streamline/standardise our philosophies? Does everything has a price? My soul is worth nothing because I don’t have one. But the effin’ devil is always trying to buy it through the likes of moronic dangerous populists, like the Pompeo yankee.
Provocative use of some tonalities?…..
Yes, we lose our pants here. We do not have to love Putin to understand his actions. He had to defend the Donbass, did he not?… In fact he’s not defending “a territory”, but a people who speak like him and believe in the same populism: a Russian tradition of being Russian, with the language, the books and the music.
Unfortunately, any such action will ruffle our freedom feathers and kill a few innocent people, many of whom we have not even bothered to bury when we had our own ventures in Iraq, in Libya and everywhere else we bombed from 30,000 feet. And our bombings did not have any populism of affinities with the people we destroyed. We went in there to teach democratic values, which are fascist populisms disguised as sweetness itself. The truth really was that the guys we destroyed did not want to play the dollar game….
The dollar is the most draconian form of populism. Imagine a country like Russia where the people collectively own 50 per cent of the resources! Or a country like China where the rich cannot influence the laws nor the serenity? These populisms of course go against our sense of private ownership where we can buy a senator’s vote so we can make a few more bucks on polluting the planet or making weapons… The concept of weapons is by itself a very popular form of nasty populism amongst righteous elites.
Our populism is hypocritical as we have accepted the Irish mob in our midst, possibly because they have the common currency that is a derivative of the dollar, but we reject the others like an oily salmon because we HATE Russia, don’t we? And we hate Putin in particular, because the annoying blither prevented us from RAPING RUSSIA twenty years ago, did he not?… Bastard! The Donbass people were going to be swamped by a Ukrainian nazi (are there any nazis in Ukraine? — no. They call themselves Banderites who are worse than the German nazis of WW2) army, led by a deceitful little Jewish liar.
Do we really hate the Russians like we should hate the Irish for having gained their independence from the Poms? Or do we still enjoy Father Ted?
These are the questions of life….
Meanwhile the American and English populist morons who run the joints keep JULIAN ASSANGE IN PRISON? Isn’t this crazy??????
