JULIAN ASSANGE MUST BE RELEASED…..
29.juillet.2022 // Les Crises
Julian Assange is an Australian journalist in prison. In prison for having fulfilled his mission as a journalist.
Julian Assange founded WikiLeaks in 2006 to enable whistleblowers to leak documents of public interest. So in 2010, thanks to whistleblower Chelsea Manning, WikiLeaks did some journalism, including providing evidence of war crimes committed by the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Media around the world used this information. Some have even associated themselves with WikiLeaks.
French journalists and the owners of publications are challenged here since too many major media are showing a conspicuous silence in the face of the fate of Julian Assange.
He has been persecuted by the United States for twelve years, with the help of their British ally. Pursued, harassed, smeared in his honour, he has already been deprived of freedom for more than eleven years in the United Kingdom (one year under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, seven years a political refugee in the cramped premises of the Embassy of Equator to London and for three years in Belmarsh high security prison).
Julian Assange risks being extradited to the United States, which is prosecuting him for "espionage". There, he faces up to 175 years in prison!
For years, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) with its 190 affiliates representing some 600,000 media supporters in 150 countries and national unions have advocated his cause tirelessly.
For years, collectives, organizations, media, personalities have been warning about the persecution of which Julian Assange is the victim and demanding his release.
Several calls have been made. Recently, Geneva Call* brought together journalists, editors and managers, publishers and media (Swiss Press Club, June 22, 2022).
On July 3, following a rally in Place de la République in Paris supported by some twenty organizations and media – on the occasion of Julian Assange's 51st birthday – a French support committee was created and a new call is launched.
This Paris Appeal asks:
– that Julian Assange be released, protected, rehabilitated, returned in all his personal and professional rights and compensated;
– that the French government grant him political asylum.
Julian Assange is nominated** in 2022 for the Council of Europe's Václav Havel Human Rights Prize which, each year, rewards a person, non-governmental organization or institution working to defend human rights. It is already an essential recognition for this political prisoner victim of the reason of State of Washington.
If he were extradited to the United States, what person in the world (journalist, whistleblower, etc.) would still dare to inform about embarrassing files for the American administration?
JULIAN ASSANGE MUST BE RELEASED.
FRANCE MUST GRANT HIM ASYLUM.

FREE JULIAN ASSANGE TODAY………………..
At a rally before the Parliament building in Canberra on Thursday, Australian politicians decried the British and U.S. governments’ persecution of Australian journalist Julian Assange, the imprisoned publisher of WikiLeaks, and demanded that he be released.
Assange faces up to 175 years in a U.S. prison if Britain extradites him for the “offense” of exposing crimes of the state.
