brat and pratt at mar-a-lago frat....

Months after leaving the White House, former President Donald Trump allegedly discussed potentially sensitive information about U.S. nuclear submarines with a member of his Mar-a-Lago Club -- an Australian billionaire who then allegedly shared the information with scores of others, including more than a dozen foreign officials, several of his own employees, and a handful of journalists, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The potential disclosure was reported to special counsel Jack Smith's team as they investigated Trump's alleged hoarding of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, the sources told ABC News. The information could shed further light on Trump's handling of sensitive government secrets.

Prosecutors and FBI agents have at least twice this year interviewed the Mar-a-Lago member, Anthony Pratt, who runs U.S.-based Pratt Industries, one of the world's largest packaging companies.

In those interviews, Pratt described how -- looking to make conversation with Trump during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago in April 2021 -- he brought up the American submarine fleet, which the two had discussed before, the sources told ABC News.

According to Pratt's account, as described by the sources, Pratt told Trump he believed Australia should start buying its submarines from the United States, to which an excited Trump -- "leaning" toward Pratt as if to be discreet -- then told Pratt two pieces of information about U.S. submarines: the supposed exact number of nuclear warheads they routinely carry, and exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected.

It was a revelation that could have had explosive ramifications.

US news outlet ABC News reported that an “excited” Donald Trump allegedly discussed top-secret details of US nuclear submarines with the Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, who later allegedly shared the information with at least 45 people, including “three former Australian prime ministers”.

The details included “the supposed exact number of nuclear warheads [US submarines] routinely carry, and exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected”, according to the ABC News report.

But now, almost all of Australia’s living former prime ministers have denied receiving top-secret information.

Secret tapes have revealed Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt’s extraordinary private dealings with Donald Trump, a $1 million promised payment to Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, and financial dealings with then-Prince Charles in the hope he would become king.

After recent allegations Trump had leaked classified US submarine fleet details to Pratt, the covert recordings reveal the billionaire claimed the former president also disclosed non-public details about US military action in Iraq and a private conversation with Iraq’s leader.

The tapes, along with internal documents from Pratt’s company, Visy, and briefings from over a dozen sources in the United States and Australia, reveal how the packaging titan uses relationships with powerful figures to obtain an advantage in global business and politics.

Pratt gained access to Trump by spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on membership and event fees at the ex-president’s private Florida club, Mar-a-Lago.

Pratt is heard on the tapes simultaneously admiring and besmirching Trump and comparing him to a mafia figure “with balls” who uses henchmen to do his dirty work.

russian uranium....

The US imports vast amounts of nuclear fuel and compounds from Russia, a reliance which poses a “critical” threat to national security, a senior official in the administration of President Joe Biden has told the Financial Times.

Contracts with Russian suppliers provide about 20% of nuclear fuel used by the US, which is “gravely concerning,” the assistant secretary for nuclear energy, Kathryn Huff, said in an interview published on Tuesday.

“It’s really critical that we get off of our dependence, especially from Russia,” Huff stated. “Without action Russia will continue to hold on to this market… this is really important for national security, for climate, for our energy independence.”

While the US and its EU allies have imposed sanctions on Russian oil and gas due to the Ukraine conflict, sales of nuclear fuel remain legal and unsanctioned. Currently, there are few alternative supply sources to power American and European power plants. However, the politics surrounding purchases of Russian uranium have forced many importers to seek alternative sources of supply, the FT reported, citing industry groups.

“There is alignment in our industry to step away from Russia, but you need something to step to. We really need to increase capacity in that part of the supply chain,” said Maria Korsnick, chief executive of the Nuclear Energy Institute.

A subsidiary of Russian nuclear energy giant Rosatom, Tenex, is currently the only company in the world to provide commercial sales of Haleu, a new type of fuel used in the modern generation of smaller and more efficient nuclear reactors.

Russia owns about 50% of the world’s uranium enrichment infrastructure which is critical for producing nuclear fuel. The country continues to be a major provider of uranium mining, milling, conversion, and enrichment services for US utilities. Last year, Washington relied on Moscow for about a quarter of its enriched uranium, according to US government figures.

rUranium.....

Russia is not planning to preemptively block enriched uranium exports to the US ahead of Washington’s decision on whether to ban the fuel as part of its sanctions, RBK news outlet reported on Friday, citing Tenex, a subsidiary of Russian nuclear energy giant Rosatom.

The statement came in response to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, which claimed that Tenex’s US branch had been warning its US clients of a potential ban. This would be a preemptive measure as Washington is considering legislation to block imports of Russian uranium from 2028.

Neither Tenex itself nor the company’s subsidiaries issued such warnings to their foreign customers,” the statement read.

We have always fulfilled our contractual obligations in full and on time and will continue to do so in the future.”

The company slammed what it called “speculation” about its relations with foreign customers as unacceptable. It also stressed that international trade in the nuclear energy sector should be “protected from geopolitical turbulence and protectionist restrictions.

The proposed US ban, which is part of Washington’s sanctions policy against Moscow, envisages restricting enriched uranium imports from Russia from 2028, but allows for imports to continue until that year through waivers to give local energy companies time to find new suppliers. The bill had been approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month, but was later blocked in the US Senate.

Russia owns about 50% of the world’s uranium enrichment infrastructure, which is critical for producing the nuclear fuel. The country was the largest global supplier of enriched uranium in 2022, accounting for nearly 36% of exports worldwide. US nuclear power plants imported some 12% of their uranium from Russia last year, making it the third-largest supplier after Canada (27%) and Kazakhstan (25%), according to the US Energy Information Administration.
