bravo emmanuel....French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that his country will recognize Palestine as a state in pursuit of what he called a “historic commitment to a just and lasting peace” in the region. In a surprise statement on X on Thursday, Macron said that he would make a formal announcement to this effect at the United Nations General Assembly in September in New York. “The urgent need today is to end the war in Gaza and to rescue the civilian population,” he added. While most countries around the world recognize Palestine as a nation, the United States and many of its close allies do not. With President Macron’s decision, France would be the first major country in the G7 – comprised of the US, Britain, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Italy – to officially recognize a Palestinian state. The move comes as US President Donald Trump’s administration tries to end the hostilities between Israel and Hamas. Earlier on Thursday, US Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff said that Washington had decided to bring its negotiating team home for consultations “after the latest response from Hamas,”which “clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.” The deal under discussion calls for a 60-day truce during which Hamas would release ten living hostages and the remains of 18 more in phases, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Humanitarian aid supplies would be increased, and both parties would hold negotiations toward a lasting ceasefire. The talks have stalled over conflicting demands on how to end the war. Hamas insists it will only release all hostages in exchange for a complete Israeli withdrawal and a cessation of hostilities. On the other hand, Israel refuses to agree to end its campaign until Hamas relinquishes power and disarms, a condition that the militant group rejects. The conflict started in October 2023 after a Hamas incursion into southern Israel that killed 1,200 people. Since then, over 59,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. https://www.rt.com/news/621961-france-recognize-palestine-macron/

not leaving...
The Palestinian residents of Gaza will not accept any plans to expel them from the Gaza Strip, says Shehdeh Abu Rook, mayor of the town of Khuza’a that was completely obliterated by the Israeli military.
“For us to leave our land, leave Gaza, and go to other countries? No, this is impossible! We are ready to die, but we will not leave, not even to Egypt.”
Israel simply wants to expel Palestinians from Gaza in order to seize the land and build Israeli settlements there, says displaced Palestinian Gaza resident Yasser Adwan.
“The goal is clear: to gather a large number of people in Rafah to facilitate their forced relocation outside of Gaza.”
The people of Gaza will never agree to it and will not participate in these schemes, adds another displaced Palestinian, Miral Hassan.
“The people of Gaza do not abandon their land, we love our homes, we love our land. The people have already gone through something like this, and if they have to go through it again, they will endure.”

US and Israel condemn French plan to recognise Palestinian state
France will become the first G7 nation to recognise a Palestinian state when it makes a statement before the UN in September, President Emmanuel Macron has said.
In a social media post, Macron says the decision is “consistent” with France’s “historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East”.
After calling for a ceasefire and the “release of all hostages”, Macron says: “We must build the State of Palestine, guarantee its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarisation and fully recognising Israel, it contributes to the security of all in the region.”
Palestinian officials have welcomed Macron’s decision, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls it “a launch pad to annihilate Israel”.
The US also says it “strongly rejects” the declaration. Secretary of State Marco Rubio calls it “reckless”.
Currently, the State of Palestine is recognised by more than 140 of the 193 UN member states.

[AUSTRALIAN] PM labels Gaza a 'humanitarian catastrophe' and reaffirms aspiration for Palestinian statehoodtaking....
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told ministers that he will seek cabinet backing for a plan to fully occupy Gaza, despite objections from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), The Times of Israel reported on Monday.
Israel controlled Gaza for 38 years, from 1967 until 2005. After the IDF and Israeli settlers withdrew from the enclave, it was left to be governed by the Palestinian Authority, which also controlled parts of the occupied West Bank. Hamas took control of Gaza after it won elections there in 2006. Since then, no elections have been held.
Several ministers reportedly said Netanyahu referred to the term “occupation of the Strip” during private conversations, reflecting his vision for expanding military operations. It marks a significant shift in tone as the government prepares to discuss the future of the campaign.
“The die is cast – we are going for a full occupation of the Gaza Strip... There will be operations even in areas where hostages are being held. If the IDF chief of staff doesn’t agree, he should resign,” a senior official close to Netanyahu was quoted by Ynet as saying.
The IDF currently claims to hold approximately 75% of the territory. Under the new plan, the military would be expected to occupy the remaining area as well, bringing the entire enclave under Israeli control.
The Times of Israel claims the IDF is against the idea of taking all of Gaza under control. The military believes it could take years to dismantle all Hamas infrastructure. Additionally, this approach could put hostages at risk of execution if troops move too close to where they are being held.
The conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted in October 2023 with a surprise attack by Hamas in southern Israel, leaving about 1,200 dead and 250 taken hostage. Around 50 hostages have not yet been returned, with fewer than half believed to be still alive. Israel’s counterattack has led to widespread destruction in Gaza, with the enclave’s health authorities estimating at least 60,000 deaths.

whitewashing....
by Ricardo Mohrez Muvdi
In recent weeks, a wave of countries—Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia, among others—have loudly announced their recognition of the State of Palestine. For some, this is a historic step. For others, it is a moral victory after decades of occupation and suffering. But behind these diplomatic gestures lies a much more complex strategy. The question is inevitable: what are the real interests behind this sudden avalanche of recognitions?
A Palestinian State or a Way Out for the West?First of all, it must be understood that these recognitions do not come out of nowhere. They are occurring in the midst of a genocidal war against Gaza, where Israel has failed in its attempt to eliminate the Palestinian resistance, particularly Hamas. Neither with bombs, nor with hunger, nor with forced displacement has it succeeded in subduing a people who are resisting with dignity.
Faced with this failure, the West—and particularly the United States and Europe—are looking for a Plan B. They can no longer sustain the narrative that Israel is “defending itself.” They need to offer an alternative that maintains political control, deactivates resistance, and eases internal social pressures. This is where recognition of the “Palestinian state” comes in.
But there's a catch. Because the recognized state has no borders, no army, and no sovereignty over its territory. It controls neither its airspace nor its maritime space. It cannot guarantee the security of its citizens and has no political unity. In essence, it's an administrative phantom under occupation. And it's not a real state.
Whitewashing Europe's imageThese recognitions also serve to cleanse Europe's conscience. After months of complicity in the genocide, whether through silence, military support, or targeted sanctions against the resistance, they are now trying to balance the scales with a symbolic gesture. They talk about "two states"—as if this were still a viable option, when in reality, Israel has fragmented and colonized the territory to such an extent that this formula has become impractical.
Recognizing a "Palestinian state" without sanctioning Israel, arms sales are not cut, and settlement expansion continues. In other words, a diplomatic solution is legitimized without changing the material conditions of the occupation.
What if the real goal was to replace resistance?Another worrying element is who is recognized. Most of these countries continue to consider the Palestinian Authority as the "legitimate government" of the Palestinian people despite its lack of representativeness, internal corruption, and collaboration with the occupation.
Are we facing an attempt to reorganize the Palestinian leadership from the outside, excluding resistance movements such as Hamas or Islamic Jihad? Are we seeking to create an artificial and obedient state that administers the occupation without questioning it?
If so, the avalanche of recognitions would be less a demonstration of solidarity and more a geopolitical maneuver to neutralize the struggle of the Palestinian people.
The trap of the fictitious stateThere is a huge risk that the world will begin to refer to Palestine as a "recognized state" while, in practice, it remains an occupied, colonized, and blockaded nation. This legal fiction can be used to freeze the conflict, defuse international complaints, and blame the victims themselves for their plight.
In this scenario, the Palestinian cause of a legitimate anti-colonial struggle is transformed into a bureaucratic dispute between two governments. History is erased, apartheid is rendered invisible, and the voices of the martyrs are silenced.
ConclusionThe avalanche of recognition is neither gratuitous nor disinterested nor revolutionary. It is part of a global political readjustment in the face of the moral erosion of the West and the rise of Palestinian resistance. This may be useful diplomatically, yes, but we must not be fooled: true liberation will not come from foreign powers but from the determination of the Palestinian people, in Gaza, the West Bank, in exile, and in the diaspora.
As long as the Zionist occupation regime remains undismantled, no recognition will be complete. And as long as blood continues to flow in Gaza, no symbolic gesture will suffice.
