NATO vs intervision........MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc wins the Intervision International Music Contest, said Russian jury member Igor Matvienko. "Duc Phuc, Vietnam, won," Matvienko said, announcing the results. Kyrgyzstan and Qatar took second and third place. The jury did not rate Russia's Yaroslav Dronov (Shaman) at his request, a Sputnik correspondent reported. Intervision finale ended with Million Voices performed by all participants. Each contestant performed lines of the song in their native language. Million Voices was originally sung by Polina Gagarina, who represented Russia at Eurovision 2015 and took second place. Intervision is taking place at Moscow's Live Arena. Russia is represented by singer Shaman. Composer and producer Igor Matvienko represents Russia on the contest's judges panel. Australia has pressured pop star Vassy to withdraw from the Intervision song contest in Moscow at the last moment, the organizers claimed. Born Vasiliki Karagiorgos, the singer, who holds both Australian and US citizenship, was slated to represent the US in the televised competition on Saturday. “For reasons beyond the control of the organizers and the US delegation, and due to unprecedented political pressure from the Australian government, singer Vassy will not be able to perform in the contest’s final show,” the organizers announced on the contest’s website just hours before the event. According to the organizers, Australia had “issued an official note addressed to the artist” earlier that same day. The organizers said Intervision “remains outside politics and is dedicated solely to the development of arts and international cooperation.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, a member of the contest’s supervisory board, said the organizers are “not striving for any political effect.” Vassy has not commented on her abrupt exit, and Australia has made no public statements regarding her participation. Singer Brandon Howard was initially set to represent the US but withdrew just days before the event, citing a family emergency. The organizers then announced Vassy as his replacement. Russia revived Intervision, drawing inspiration from a Soviet-era contest of the same name, after it was banned from Eurovision due to the conflict in Ukraine. Artists from 22 countries participated in the contest, with Vietnam’s Duc Phuc taking home the prize. https://www.rt.com/news/624992-australia-pressured-intervision-contest/

charitable winner....
Vietnamese pop star Duc Phuc, who won this year’s Intervision song contest in Moscow on Saturday, has announced plans to donate part of his 30-million-ruble prize (around $358,000) money to charity.
The Hanoi-born artist won the Vietnamese version of The Voice in 2015 and has since released many hits in his home country, where he is widely recognized for his philanthropic work.
“I’ll share a little secret. I want to find a charitable foundation in Russia and donate the prize money I receive to it,” the singer said during an appearance on the show Let Them Talk on Channel One.
He also expressed his admiration for the music of the host country, saying it would be a great honor to collaborate with local artists and to write a song in Russian.
Phuc represented his country with the ballad ‘Phu Dong Thien Vuong’, which earned the highest scores from both the jury and the audience. It received 422 points, while the runners-up, the Nomad Trio from Kyrgyzstan, earned 373 points. Dana Al Meer of Qatar came in third with 369 points.
The contest was held at Live Arena, a major concert venue located just outside Moscow. This year’s Intervision brought together performers from more than 22 countries, including China, India, Cuba, Serbia, Egypt, Belarus, and Brazil.
Russia revived Intervision, a Soviet-era competition, after it was banned from the Eurovision Song Contest due to the Ukraine conflict.
Since then, Moscow has promoted it as an international event that aims to remain free from political influence.
