Falling on our dehind...

The minister for scientific holes in the head says children need to be taught more practical skills in science. "We've got major challenges ahead of us," he said. "Australia is a leader in the world of science, but unless we focus increasingly on these programs we run the risk of falling behind." Yeah... GIVE US MONEY so we don't have to rely on charitable organisations to fund our projects!! Encouraging enough?

Australia facing scientist shortage...

From the ABC

Govt audit finds Australia facing scientist shortage
A Federal Government audit has found Australia is facing a severe shortage of scientists.

The Department of Education and Science has found within six years there will be a shortage of 20,000 scientists and engineers.

Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training Julie Bishop says there needs to be a national framework to address the problem.

She says children and students must be encouraged to study in the field.

"We must increase the number of students going into teaching in these areas so we can increase the number of high quality teachers in our schools," she said.

"It will take a coordinated comprehensive effort across the nation and that's what I'm calling for.

"I am aiming for a national approach to science education across the country."

Very weird... I find it difficult to understand why kiddies want to emulate sport's people with IQ that matches their shoe-sizes while getting paid near a million bucks per annum rather that do scientific work for peanuts... Hey what about the cuedos? Sure.

Say, we've been alerting the country's rulers for the past few years... thus, now when the shortage is more critical than ever, they're looking into it through the back door... Amazing!

tweeting joke...

Robbie Farah, the NRL star who has called for tougher laws to fight internet trolls, last year tweeted that Prime Minister Julia Gillard should be given a noose for her birthday.
The Wests Tigers captain has this week called on the Prime Minister and the police to put an end to vicious trolls online, after he was the target of an offensive message about his late mother, Sonia.
But it has been revealed that, in September last year, on Ms Gillard's 50th birthday, Farah responded to a tweet from former league star, now Triple M radio host, Mark Geyer, asking "what would you buy the PM for her birthday? It's her 50th today" with "a noose".

apology from the footballer...

West Tigers captain Robbie Farah has apologised to Prime Minister Julia Gillard for an offensive tweet he posted last year.

Farah's apology comes only days after he made a public stand against trolling on Twitter, having been the victim of such behaviour himself.

A Twitter user posted offensive comments about Farah's late mother on Sunday, which led the New South Wales State of Origin star to call for political and police intervention.

Farah asked both Ms Gillard and NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell to crack down on trolling.

But it has been revealed that Farah posted a tweet last year, responding to former rugby league international Mark Geyer, who had asked what users would buy for Ms Gillard's 50th birthday.

Farah's tweeted response was "a noose", which he later removed.

He says he has written to Ms Gillard to apologise for any hurt his post caused, highlighting the offence he took to comments made about his mother.
