NSW defends changing gun rules for Cheney's guards .....

The New South Wales Police Minister, John Watkins, has defended a decision to allow the US Vice President's security guards to carry guns while in Sydney.

The State Government has changed regulations to allow members of Dick Cheney's party to carry weapons when they arrive tonight.

Mr Watkins says the Federal Government requested the change.

"They made very clear that this was critically important to the visit by the Vice President," he said.

"Accordingly, we've changed the regulations to the Firearms Act which will enable a certain number of the Vice President's party to carry firearms under licence.

"In New South Wales there are very strict conditions being placed on that.

Sydney motorists will also face major disruptions on the roads for the second time
in three days.

good riddance

Cheney leaves Australia after whirlwind visit
The US Vice-President, Dick Cheney is flying back home after a four-day visit to Australia.

Mr Cheney was greeted and farewelled at Sydney Airport by the US ambassador to Australia, Robert McCallum.

The Vice-President's plane, Air Force 2, is now in the sky, escorted by a US Air Force KC10.

In keeping with every step of the Vice-President's visit to Sydney, security on the tarmac is very tight with metal detectors, sniffer dogs and bag searches.

Mr Cheney used his time in Australia to raise concerns about a nuclear Iran and a military build-up in China.

Australia was the last leg of a trip that also took in Japan.

Gus: men like Dick never give up. Always hassling hustling someone else about the straw in their eyes while not seeing the fourbetwo in their own. Men like Dick are a menace to a fair and equitable world because that's against their greedy creed since they want most of it for themselves. Eat crumbs tharestovyar... Yes Mr Cheney... And while we sup our gruel, would you like us to bend over so you can use our back as a table top?

And our brown nosing "modest" (Rudd is getting full of himself while I'm only full of s...) rodent plays both sides of the street, as instructed by the White House, to give the hot and cold shower treatment to those friend we don't trust — but need to keep North Korea in check, buy our boat loads of coal and need to give us cheap goods to keep inflation down, while the country goes to manufacturing dogs:

Howard evades question on Cheney's China stance
Prime Minister John Howard has evaded a question about whether he agrees with the US Vice-President's position on China's military build-up.

Yesterday, US Vice-President Dick Cheney criticised China's rapid military build-up.

When asked whether he agrees that China's military build-up is unnecessary, Mr Howard emphasised Australia's closeness to both the US and China.

"We have no illusions that China remains an authoritarian country," he said. [Gus: please note the "we" as if it included all Orstralyans and their fleebags] "We have sought to emphasise in our relations with China those practical things that we have in common.

"We do, I hope with appropriate modesty, regard it as one of the foreign policy successes of this country over the last decade, that we have simultaneously become ever closer in our relationship with our great ally the United States but at the same time built a very constructive, understandable relationship with China."

"We" blah blah...

Great load of national interest in which the buck talks loudest. But our greatest achievement in hypocrisy relates to David Hicks who according to Dick has been put as the front of the guilty queue lucky-if-he-hangs-not", under the request of an impatient little Johnnee who does not like to see his polls slip away like old underpants.

Ah, I love the racket of the lorikeets... at least you do not have to try and make sense out of a nonsensical babble. But makes sense to them birds, unlike the rubbishy profanities by the pollies.

good riddance. May you have a pleasant flight.

Dick's plane lost a feather?

US Vice-President Cheney's plane diverted

The White House has confirmed there were mechanical problems with United States Vice-President Dick Cheney's flight out of Sydney.

Mr Cheney left Sydney on Air Force 2 this morning after a four-day visit.

Prime Minister John Howard says he was made aware of the problem on the plane but he has little detail.

"I'm not aware of the full circumstances and I have not been told, except that it has been diverted," he said.

"As to the precise circumstances, I'm not as yet advised."

A potted history of good-will trouble

Now we know :

--------

From the NYT

WASHINGTON/SYDNEY (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's plane had a small mechanical problem on Sunday but there were no safety concerns and it would make a planned refuelling stop in Singapore, the White House said.

White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore said there was a problem with a generator on the plane, which left Sydney's international airport about 9 a.m. on Sunday (5 p.m. EST (2200 GMT) Saturday), but it posed no safety issues and the aircraft was fine.

......

Cheney's health has also been a concern in the past, with the vice president having a history of heart trouble.

--------------

Gus: the trouble was they could not find it. The generator of good will that is... thus there was no safety problem, apart from Dick mouthing off our other mercantile friends, the Chinese...

What is quite astonishing is that a few Dick protesters (thank you, it was no trouble at all, you should all get a medal) have been arrested for disrupting Sydney's traffic — a few hundred car being delayed for five minutes — while our heartless Dick is lauded for being who he is, a sycophantic warmonger dick, while disrupting more than a hundred thousands motorists on either side of the Harbour Bridge up to the air-plot. Blimey, If that's what war, money and power does to you, I want plenty of it... but then as my mother always said " when you die, you won't take the loot with you. Not even your bad dreams"... But I guess the stench of our actions during our rotten lives may give the worms a bad taste in their guts...

And what a friend to Johnnee, that Dick is, — telling us that it would not make a hoot of difference to the US-Australian alliance if we had troops in Iraq or not! Gees, we had to see our Johnnee Rattus back-pedalling at hundred miles an hour with a: "Dick was only polite" platitude of Nullarbor size proportion.

Meanwhile, Johnnee was also holding hands with Super Dudman in his campaign against the villains of Goddam City who dared challenge his Opus Dei inspired crusade to take over NSW — a crusade underpinned with a brilliant slogan "let's f.. NSW".

Sure... I can see it already. The last bastion of decent wages and working conditions held in the Lucky country, all going to the dogs of Johnnee's PorkChoices... then the real slash-back can fullswing swimmingly. And many other unsung details that would make a no-secular-Iraq Shiite militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr proud.

Sure NSW has been plodding along, but more often than not it's better to plod along nicely with a few pot holes than drive a highway through your lounge room — It messes up the furniture. Beware. In fact had the motorcade of Dick taken the City Cross Tunnel, purposely built for that, or even the Harbour Tunnel, Sydney traffic would have been flowers. But obviously as I see it, Johnnee Rattus wanted to inflict maximum pain to the present incumbent so Super Dudman would look good. But then Rattus will "work harder at it" since the good angel Maxine has decided to fight him in his own lair. May the best woman win.
