at the 2022 oscars...American movie star Sean Penn is laying down the law with the organizers of the Academy Awards, threatening to destroy his Oscars if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky isn’t invited to participate in Hollywood’s biggest annual event. Speaking from Warsaw on Saturday night in an interview with CNN, Penn said his understanding was that a decision had been made not to include a message from Zelensky in the awards show. He called for others to join him in boycotting the event if Ukraine’s leader isn’t asked to speak. “If it turns out to be what is happening, I would encourage everyone involved to know that, though it may be their moment – and I understand that – to celebrate their films, it is so much more importantly their moment to shine and to protest and to boycott the Academy Awards,” Penn told CNN host Jim Acosta.

has penn destroyed his statues?...
... Zelensky did not appear and did not speak at Oscars 2022.
As reported by Deadline and their sources, there have been talks between Kyiv and Hollywood for Zelensky, former actor and comedian, to appear at this year’s Academy Awards.
Several actors supported the idea, including host Amy Schumer [Jewish] and actor Sean Penn. Penn spent several weeks in Ukraine filming a documentary about the Russian invasion.
...
The Academy paid a silent salute to Ukraine after a performance by Reba McEntire and made an appeal for donations.
“We’d like to have a moment of silence to show our support for the people of Ukraine currently facing invasion, conflict and prejudice within their own borders,” a message on the screen read.
“While film is an important avenue for us to express our humanity in times of conflict, the reality is millions of families in Ukraine need food, medical care, clean water, and emergency services. Resources are scarce, and we — collectively as a global community — can do more.”
Ukrainian-born American actress Mila Kunis introduced McEntire and said: “In such devastation, it’s impossible not to be moved by their resilience. One cannot help but be in awe of those who find strength to keep fighting through unimaginable darkness.”

Would there have been a minute of silence for the people killed (14000 so far) in the Donbass region by the Ukrainian armies?
