John Richardson's blogtroublesome priests ....We know that when Tony Abbott doesn’t approve of something, he is not backward in coming forward about it. He’s made no secret, for instance, of his disapproval of refugees attempting to get to Australia by boat, Aboriginal people indulging their “lifestyle choices” in remote communities and women who access more than one maternity leave entitlement.
"fair" game .....Families with children on the lowest incomes will bear the brunt of the federal government's budget cuts, while high income families will actually see their disposable incomes increase slightly over the next four years.

broken faith in politics .....from The Monthly by Robert Manne
crying wolf .....Counter-terrorism advisers and Muslim community leaders have raised serious concerns about Prime Minister Tony Abbott's obsessive use of the phrase "death cult" to describe Islamic State, saying it is counter-productive, ineffective and does some of the terror group's marketing for them. Of all the existential threats to the Australian way of life, none seem to have captured the Prime Minister's attention like the "death cult", otherwise known as Islamic State, ISIL or ISIS.
real infrastructure investment .....Costa Rica has almost reached its goal of an energy mix based solely on renewable sources, harnessing solar, wind and geothermal power, as well as the energy of the country’s rivers.
TPP .....
let there be light .....The University of Western Australia has pulled out of its deal to create a "consensus centre" run by climate contrarian Bjorn Lomborg and partly funded by the federal government.
yet another village idiot .....The head of the Abbott government's Business Advisory Council claims climate science is a new world order conspiracy involving the United Nations, democracy-hating environmentalists and Chinese communists.
