An open letter released Wednesday signed by more than 100 veterans of the George W. Bush and Donald Trump administrations, ex-military officers, and former Republican lawmakers and activists called for fellow conservatives and congressional Republicans to support increased military aid to Ukraine and criticized President Biden for “seem[ing] more concerned about the prospects of a Russian defeat than of a Russian victory.”

One of the evils of the Trump era was that illegal, immoral, and at times unconstitutional acts were raised to high standards if they seemed to chip away at Trump somehow. So a fake dossier, which consumed several years and millions of dollars of American life, was brushed off with a fine from the elections commission rather than someone going to jail for lying to the FBI. The Intercept has obtained secret documents that reveal how the Biden administration pushed for the overthrow of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan — and then used the promise of a desperately needed International Monetary Fund bailout to ensure the continued flow of Pakistani weapons to Ukraine.

It needs to be read again apparently, since we have witnessed some days ago the Canadian parliament, the seat of democracy of a nation that fought against the Nazis in WWII, and which suffered heavy losses doing so, and which was an ally of the Soviet Union, cheering and applauding a Waffen-SS soldier whose unit, committed unspeakable crimes against civilians in the Nazi occupied territories of the Soviet Union, particularly Ukraine, but also in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. They applauded in unison and with enthusiasm.

We need an Indigenous Voice to parliament. We need any other voice that will offset the disastrous self-serving notions of the present fools that govern this country. We are all living under the shadows of the illusions of the colonised mind. 

There are many discussions bubbling along under the surface of Australian society today: the UN’s final warning to act on climate change, issues of representation and the sovereignty of First Nations People, lack of social housing, failures in aged care, robodebt, offshore detention… But there are commonalities to these problems; they are created by sneaky, pathetic governance. The Biden administration is looking for “creative” ways to secure further military aid for Ukraine amid mounting opposition at home, POLITICO has reported. Meanwhile, Britain’s Telegraph newspaper claimed that the White House is considering the possibility of a mega aid package to the tune of $100 billion.

In its article on Friday, POLITICO quoted President Joe Biden hinting on Wednesday that “there is another means by which we may be able to find funding” for Kiev. According to the media outlet, the US leadership is considering using the State Department’s foreign military financing program. Under this, grants or loans are provided to partner countries to purchase weapons and defense equipment.

The first visit to China by a US congressional delegation since 2019 has begun with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer claiming that Chinese businesses are to blame for America’s epidemic of opioid addictions and overdose deaths.

Chinese firms are “fueling the fentanyl crisis that is poisoning communities across the United States,” Schumer said after arriving in Shanghai on Saturday. “Every one of us knows families who have lost young men and women to fentanyl.”The New York Democrat stressed that it’s businesses – not China’s government – that are supplying ingredients for production of fentanyl and other opioids in Mexico.

Palestinian armed group Hamas launched thousands of missiles at Israel and deployed its militants to infiltrate Jewish settlements near the country’s border with Gaza on Saturday morning.

A number of people have been killed and hundreds wounded in the surprise attacks. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that country was “at war” and promised Hamas retaliation they “have never known before.” Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by sending dozens of warplanes to strike targets in Gaza.

In a memorandum directed to the Secretary of State and Secretary of the Treasury, Biden proclaimed that this blockade, whose aim is to weaken Cuba’s economy by restricting trading opportunities and barring imports onto the island, was “in the national interest of the United States.”

It’s been more than a year since one of the biggest pieces of energy infrastructure in Europe was destroyed in what can only be described as a terror attack. One would imagine that no stone would be left unturned to investigate a crime of such magnitude and attribute responsibility.

He highlighted that America is deeply divided and that promoting the China threat helps unite Americans; that unlike the UK and the US, China has no imperial legacy; that unlike the Soviet Union, China is not exporting ideology; that China is concerned about managing its large ethnic and religious minorities; and that surrounded by scores of US bases, China’s military is defensive.

Most important of all Percy Allan emphasises that China’s focus is economic.
