The porous southern border is a catastrophe for the rule of law. Although Congress has legislated the types of immigrants the U.S. may admit and in what numbers, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has flouted those rules by welcoming millions of migrants without visas. The House should impeach him.

Australia announced an AUD $110 million (USD $74 million) military aid package to Ukraine this week including 28 M113 armored vehicles, 28 MAN 40M medium trucks, and 14 special ops vehicles. Unfortunately for ordinary Ukrainian troops, experience has shown Aussie vehicles to be worse than useless against Russian forces.

A scandal is brewing in Australia over Canberra’s decision to pawn its Vietnam War-vintage military equipment off on Kiev, with local military experts questioning how the aid that has been announced could possibly add up to $110 million AUD, while opposition leader Peter Dutton said it’s “frankly embarrassing” that Australia is sending equipment to Ukraine that’s so clearly “not fit for purpose.”

French President Emmanuel Macron has argued that social media platforms and video games helped to fuel riots across the country, amid a major bout of unrest over the death of a 17-year-old at the hands of law enforcement. 

Speaking after an emergency security meeting to address the ongoing riots on Friday, Macron noted that around one-third of those arrested over the last three nights were “young or very young,”suggesting the internet was having a negative influence on children and teens.

“Platforms and networks are playing a major role in the events of recent days,” he said of the unrest. “We’ve seen them – Snapchat, TikTok and several others – serve as places where violent gatherings have been organized, but there’s also a form of mimicry of the violence which for some young people leads them to lose touch with reality.”

12:50am: EU leaders back security commitments for Ukraine

European Union leaders declared on Thursday they would make long-term commitments to bolster Ukraine's security as President Volodymyr Zelensky urged them to start work on a new round of sanctions against Russia.

At a summit in Brussels, the leaders restated their condemnation of Russia's war against Ukraine and said the EU and its member countries "stand ready" to contribute to commitments that would help Ukraine defend itself in the long term.

In a text summarising the conclusions of the summit, the leaders said they would swiftly consider the form these commitments would take.

In the last few hundred years, we have invented gun-powder, the steam engine, the aeroplane, genetically modified organisms and tamed radio-waves.

Thinks about it… I will repeat: take a minute to think about it.

In parallel with these inventions, we, humans, have been at war with each others or anything that moved/crawled and stung.

So we have used these great inventions as tools of war, have we not? You might disagree with me for including GMO in this war business, but we have to agree that GMO have been designed “to combat nature”. We create GMO to protect our crops against bugs, diseases and weeds. And we still don’t know what these GMO do to our “natural” internal systems. Do we care?

Jacques-Marie-Bourget: The problem is that, alas, Europe has no face since it has no existence of its own, personality, will, character.

What if the Prigozhin “Coup” is Maskirovka? I want to explore that possibility. Earlier today (Saturday on the east coast of the U.S.) I was sketching out a piece with the catchy title, “PRIGOZHIN — PUTSCH OR PLOY?” Well, that swell idea was blown away like the Kakhovka Dam when the narrative about the Prigozhin plan to march on Moscow and personally strangle Russian Defense Minister Shoigu went full-on Nadia Comăneci — i.e., back flip. Prigozhin ordered “his” troops back to their bases, cut a deal with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to go into exile and will face no judicial punishment. WHAT????? No bloodshed? No miles of burning tanks? And no Mussolini neck tie for Vladimir Putin? What the hell?!!
