Australia's Future Civil Liberty.....How We Wll LiveThe line on the paper shouted from the shelf... "The most important civil liberty I have, and you have, is to stay alive and to be free from violence and death," said Australia's Prime Minister. How soon could the freedom to exchange ideas be eradicated ? Content filters scan email and reject combinations of words that a terrorist would never use on the internet, but protesters would, "One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter" could get you jailed in Blair's U.K., new defamation laws will make writing of the "military-industrial complex" akin to treason. Protesting against war, long discredited by Mr Howard, could be considered an unpatriotic act, perhaps a crime "Freedom, by its nature, must be chosen and defended by citizens and All this "protection from terrorism" seems ironic when our recently retired defence commander is about to go on national television to say that the best solution would be to get the troops out of Iraq. Now looking forward to wise words from Bob Hill, to interpret Cosgrove's latest dissent, into what Peter really meant to say. It will turn out that he is, in fact, a strong supporter of government policy, and Iraq is not at risk of becoming a Vietnam quagmire. Like, don't be ridiculous, Kerry. Does everyone have to agree with the ABC, now?
A number of intersecting curves of alternative realities prove that, if Saddam had not been displaced, Iraq would have been a first-class training facility for bomb-makers.
